  1. Ah, sexy fighter. Looking good and good luck with the parts!
  2. Okay. BALSE!
  3. If we go Prequel-less, then no he didn't. But we must assume that the prequels do exist even as the EU has been wiped clean. And in that context, he knew she was pregnant, but must have assumed the child died as well. In any case, and all we can do is close our eyes and go 'La-La-La!!'
  4. There's no nuance. Stay in prison and do nothing to help POWs - or get out of prison to help POWs. He chose the latter.
  5. It was a choice. Stay in prison, or save his fellow servicemen who he lamented losing at the end of First Blood. It was a choice and he made the right one. When Trautman arrived with the offer, that was the war coming to Rambo's doorstep, even if he was living in a prison. There is no way the Rambo from First Blood could have turned him down. In fact, I think that even if he would have been tossed right back into jail if he survived the mission, he still would have gone.
  6. And why would Obiwan or Owen or Beru be using the name Skywalker anywhere but in secret? Obiwan is the first to call him a Skywalker. We don't know if anyone else around there even knew of the name. And if even so, some twenty years after the birth of the Empire, how would the name Skywalker even move from the distant Lars moisture farm all the way to Mos Eisly? Much less the correct ears to get the name all the way to the Emperor's right hand? And to point out, whether the prequels were planned at the inception of Ep4 or not, Leia asks only for General Kenobi. Not his apprentice. For anyone else but the Jedi Council, the name Skywalker was hardly a blip in the sensors, and after the destruction of the Jedi, it is more than likely that it simply vanished. No one cared about the name or who he had been. And as has been pointed out, Vader thought his son had died with Padme. There was no reason to even think of the name Skywalker anymore. So, all Vader's connections to the Skywalker name were severed, the name itself had no historical regard, neither Luke's family or Obiwan were going to even mention the name, and a planet-wide desert is a big place for an inconsequential name of a poor moisture farmer to get lost in.
  7. That would be interesting. Young Ben Solo has a crush on Mara Jade and that feeds his resentment. Then he finds out he's Vader's grandson and goes looking for answers about Anakin Skywalker, which then brings him into contact with Snoke. Snoke then builds on that jealous resentment to turn young Ben to the Dark Side. He then kills Mara if he can't have her, which fits into the novel universe where the son of Han and Leia kills Luke's wife. But, this is after Mara has hidden her daughter, Rey, on Jakku with on old enemy who owes her a debt. Thus hiding Rey from Kylo Ren and Snoke. And incidentally, her husband Luke, who by this point thinks she's dead. If they had to do a Death Star type super-weapon, then I wish they could have done something like the Darksabre from the novel. Or someone saw BSG Blood and Chrome...
  8. Or do as I'm going to do, and don't watch EP 1 ever again!! It itself is almost a completely closed movie, with no storylines that extend to the following films that those films themselves don't already discuss. As stated by the Machete Order, where you watch Eps 4 and 5, then skip back to 2 and 3, before going on to 6, it knocks midichlorines out almost entirely while still preserving the shock aspect of Vader announcing that he is Luke's father. As I understand it, there is an uneasy truce between the New Republic and the Empire Remnant. Leia has burned her bridges in the new Senate as being a war hawk and crying Wolf, so she has turned the Rebels into the Resistance and continues the fight against the First Order. Some in the Republic support her and her forces, which leads to the First Order destroying the Senate, which has taken to rotating its sessions between the capitols of the member worlds. None of this is explained in the movie however, which is sad. I would have gladly watched another thirty minutes of it just to know all that, without having to go through multi-media such as the cutaway and art books. And apparently there were some scenes shot with members of the New Republic Senate. But they were cut... I can only hope we will get an extended version when it comes to DVD!
  9. Well, I'm pretty sure the whole movie won't be a Beastie Boys video. And that actually hearkens back to the first JJ film, when young Kirk was driving the classic Corvette. I actually liked it. It rocked, which I think after the last movie, the series needed. I'm sure the next trailer will probably be more in depth. As for the movie, it would appear that yet another Enterprise has given it's swan song. Which raises hopes for the next Enterprise! Hopefully it will be Excelsior-esq, as was originally intended for the end of ST III. And yeah, more action. If we want something more cerebral, I think we'll have to wait for the next ST series next year. Or is it after next year..? For the movies, expect action, though I do hope we have some moments of plot building fed in there.
  10. Yeah, the alien tech is really something that turns me off about the fighter. Sleek and beautiful otherwise. Have to see how it works on film. I kept hoping they were retractable in some way. If they make a kit, I'll have to see about integrating them somehow so they're not so obnoxious hanging out there. Really ruins the lines! But the movie looks good. Or as good as a sequel to ID4 can be at any rate. And did anyone else notice that that was Washington DC being scooped up by a big alien 'shovel...' I'll be going to watch!
  11. One thing I would have wished, is if they were going to bring back Zod, they should have done it all the way. Zod was bass-ass enough without turning him into a some Hulkerized monster thing.
  12. A truck with a snow plow...
  13. The military also had RPGs. And tanks. And machine guns. And ground attack aircraft. I don't see RPGs as being anything else than a quick escape device. Clear some ground within which to run, so to speak... And who else thinks that kid is going to be tossed to the monsters if he gets any louder? And holding hands? No. Walkers shamble all about without any real direction. You don't want to string a line within them for them to shamble into. And why no fortifies houses? You know, just in case the wall comes down..?
  14. You can never be out of Yuki...
  15. Yes, I like that it doesn't have to be a single villain for the team to fight - or split - against. In that way, the villains are the main heroes themselves, because they are allowing themselves to lose focus on their friends and team mates truly are. The hero is the villain when they allow to happen what an actual villain would be unable to do.
  16. The T-70 is pretty cool. What we haven't seen yet, are the Resistance ships. What will their frigates look like, their Mon Col cruisers and such? I'm hoping we see those at some point as well.
  17. Agreed. Definitely no longer a toy!
