  1. Here's my growing VF-1S "Booby Duck" collection. Aside from a potential 1/48, any other versions or scales I should add?
  2. This. In the music world, guitar companies often produce “signature” models based on the look of an instrument owned and used by a famous guitarist. Occasionally there will be technical features different from the standard edition, but usually just mimicking the look. Since it wasn’t the only VF-1S on the SDF-1, I really think what made Roy’s special was the paint scheme and the fact that he flew it.
  3. I was thinking the same. Would be great to have a closed fist TV hand for each arm like the Yamato 1/60 V2 (and Bandai's own HMR TV versions for that matter).
  4. Bandai has given us HMR versions of the Wasp, Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, Marauder, Rifleman, and Griffin, but still no Warhammer...
  5. Cameras and lighting—not to mention photo processing—can have a big impact on how colors appear. In that magazine scan, there are 2 shots of the fighter on the stand, and you can tell by the black base that the white balance is different. I'm guessing (or hoping?) that the actual color in real life will be somewhere in between the two shades of yellow.
  6. Interesting... I've definitely seen loose hip joints on the original Hi Metal line, but none of my HMR VF-1 examples have the problem. I had thought it was something Bandai had fixed with the HMR update.
  7. This comparison reminds me of the difference between Bandai's 1/100 Hi Metal and the Hi-Metal R. The DYRL version above looks more like the HMR, while the TV Roy head looks more like the older original Hi Metal sculpt. Courtesy of Jenius's Anymoon site...
  8. That’s cool that Roy’s VF-1S is coming, and I’m really glad to see it’s the TV version. I’m in for one for sure, whether PO or otherwise. I think the newer head sculpt looks good, and I could even live with yellow head arrows if needed, but it seems Bandai is fixing that. Am I correct in assuming that it will not come with a Hikaru pilot, but it’s just shown in that article for scale with Roy?
  9. As someone with a background in graphic design and a soft spot for old arcade games, I'm impressed with your work and dedication. Interested to see how it all turns out.
  10. Another OVA along the lines of Zero or Plus would be great. I’d be fine with a short series as long as it had more substance, better story telling, and less bubble gum than Delta.
  11. Pretty cool. I’ll have to try that myself.
  12. Did you ever try to get them fixed by Nintendo? They were doing that for free at one point, and we got my son’s joycons taken care of that way. This is especially true when you take into consideration the fact that these companies that are trying to tap into nostalgia are doing so with an audience whose aging eyes aren’t what they used to be. I’m at the point where I need reading glasses to play my Gameboy Advance. I actually got myself a DSi XL to make it easier to play DS games. On a somewhat related note, here’s a photo I posted recently on another thread. This little monitor doesn’t get a whole lot of playtime, but it’s still pretty cool, I think.
  13. Thanks for the complements, @Slave IV and @nightmareB4macross. And @fifbeat, there is an actual Super Nintendo console hooked up to the monitor. Feel free to message me if you want more info on the setup.
  14. It would seem these are getting easier to find now. There was a time (during the first couple years of HMR) that they were pretty hard to come by, even for ¥8,000.
  15. I recently (and finally, you might say) acquired a joke machine. Here he is with his favorite video game on a monitor that small enough to actually make him look big!
  16. Yes please. This is my number one hope for Bandai's DX line. Words of wisdom.
  17. The fact that the VF-1 has sold so well over so many years may also mean that many (Kawamori included) would rather see something new instead of a re-tread. Even Zero (which I believe was the only time the franchise didn’t move forward in time but backwards) didn’t use the VF-1 even though they arguably could have. Newer series have also included elements to appeal to the old-school fan, like episode 12 in Frontier or the VF-1EX in Delta. Still, though, I see what you mean, and would enjoy it if they could find a way to look backwards for a change instead of forwards. I’ve heard suggestions of animating Macross the First, which would be cool, though it’d have to be with a new voice cast at this point.
  18. That is a pretty good price for a CF 1A these days. I keep telling myself that 4 is enough... And it’s good to see @sh9000‘s custom Milia again.
  19. Wow, I knew you had a lot, but seeing that list really makes it clear that you are the King! The only ones I don’t have are the Monster and Glaug (space reasons), the VF-2 (Macross II reasons) and the Messer 1S and Roy 4G (canon reasons). I am have the original Focker 1S and Hikaru 1A instead of the HMR versions since I think the color looks much better.
  20. Agreed. Though this particular game is very accessible for Western players, considering it works on a US Super Nintendo and the text is all English. @Sauce Dog - Always glad to see others who appreciate this great game. Did you think about using the official art for your custom cover?
  21. That was pretty cool! What platform or system might it need to run on?
  22. Ah, yes. You're right. I posted too quickly, thinking I was in the 1/48 DX thread and got the impression Saburo was trying to whet our appetites for the other 1S variants.
  23. Hint: the one character Bandai hasn’t yet given us in DX form. Nice coloring, by the way. Looks very convincing.
  24. 3P Legends TFs are cool. I’ve gotten a few of them over the past couple of years. Currently on the fence about getting NewAge Megatron or just waiting until Magic Square does theirs. In other news, my Defender is glad that I just filled a couple of the remaining holes in my HMR collection.
