I have no idea what that title is supposed to mean, but it looks nice.  I assume these are upscaled versions of their previous AC kits?  I'm getting PG vibes out of the display and styling.

... OH.. they're making finished figures?

Ok.. not a fan of that design, but if they put out a White Glint, I am SO down for one.  I have to assume they're planning for the overbooster as well, since the connection port looks like it opens up.

Interesting choice to debut their line, but not interesting enough for me to hand over $400.  Maybe if it was Nine Ball, I'd reconsider.  I'm hoping Koto goes with other mecha franchises like Front Mission with their Decoction models.

White Glint was my favorite from AC4 for sure. The Aaliyah seems more popular, just based on how many times the basic kit seems to get re-issued? It feels like I see the Aaliyah kit all the time, and rarely see the others being re-issued. WG or the Tellus would have been my go-to designs from AC4/AA; the Aaliyah has such a busy silhouette.

But then, I always preferred the designs from AC3/SL/NX myself. AC4/AA definitely seems to be more popular just going off of reprints of the kits. That being said... I do like the Aaliyah still, Macross releases are sparse these days, and the yen is pretty weak. Don't think I can pass this one up.

As a random aside, checking prices for the kits while writing this post, the Aaliyah kit is ~$70-80 and the WG is $280+. You'd think they'd re-issue it!

So this isn't quite related directly to the topic, but I just saw that HLJ has shows there FINALLY being a reissue of the 1/72 White Glint kit, sometime early next year.

Given the current insane prices, I'm tempted to pick up a couple just as an investment.

Several of their old AC models are being reissued. They're also making new ones for AC6.

Preorders for the reissue kits went up last week. It’s been a while since some of them have been re supplied.

Looks like Kotobukiya is doing a mirror finish version of the Aaliyah? In case you had been on the fence, but wanted a version that showed more fingerprints.

FWIW, I picked up the original and I really liked it. It's big, extremely detailed, lots of fiddly bits. Build quality was very nice. I think my only gripe was that, if you're going to do LEDs, give us an LED in the overbooster, too. The one in the head is neat, but a little underwhelming.

I just bought this for an incredibly good price on Mandarake (~$380 shipped); when I receive it I'll be sure to share photos and thoughts on it.

Very few reviews in any language on this figure so far.

Not a bad price considering the rarity, but yeah, I haven't seen much fanfare about it.  Maybe because they were testing the waters for this product line with a fairly unremarkable design?  I know it was a headliner for AC4, but I don't recall that game getting nearly as much fanfare as 4A when it dropped.

I do keep hoping they'll do more figures at this level though, since the first one wasn't really a design I was interested in.

They put out a White Glint though, and I will be all over it immediately. ^_^

I think it must be a really low production quantity, and the announcement of the gloss finish version may have temporarily tanked the price of the regular release on the second hand market.  Before this, it used to regularly go for $6-700 before shipping which is ludicrous.  Kotobukiya doesn't usually make a lot of large high-end action figures, and to my knowledge I don't think they've released anything like this in the past.  It reminds of the boutiqueness of Wave's Tetsukyoujin figure which also seemingly came out of nowhere and remains elusive on the aftermarket.

I will say though, the 48,000 yen MSRP doesn't seem as absurd as those new Metal Builds from Bandai which are roughly the same price and give you a lot less.
