Chronocidal Posted September 24 Posted September 24 You know what's irritating now.. I could easily use a few of those new compound curves to refine the OMS pods on my shuttle, if I can get them in white. I've been trying to come up with a better arrangement of elements, and that might make a really nice option for those curves. That Countach is really tempting though.. but sadly I probably do not have the spare funds to pick anything up at the moment, just from other priorities. Will have to see though. Quote

I'm also working on a mostly white MOC and could use those in white as well. The Countach is an impressive set and I'm still tempted to pick it up, too. I kinda wish they'd done it in red, but I think they wanted it as a counterpoint to the Speed Champions version, which was also white. OR, perhaps, Ferrari took issue with making a Lambo in red. IDK- just spitballing, but some of these car companies can be rather fussy and demanding. I would have preferred it in black, too, over the white. Quote
grogall Posted October 8 Posted October 8 So anyone else, building the super detailed Hogward's Castle? Quote

I'm sure it'll be impressive once fully completed, but I bought the micro-scale full castle grounds set on a deep sale and haven't looked back, that's pretty much all I want and need from Harry Potter Lego. It's like large and small modules that then make up the large part of the castle! It's Minifigure scale and will be quit large. The main tower alone is almost 70cm high. But also expensive with the first two main building adding up to €450 and next years Astronomy Tower being rumored to cost €300... Quote
M'Kyuun Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Of the three Batmobiles, the BvS is my favorite design and, IMHO, the worst execution among the three sets. I think the designers did a far better job capturing the B&R and The Batman Batmobiles. I'll still get the BvS and The Batman sets, but I think I prefer the original BvS Batmobile set (76045) they released in 2016. This new set has a lot more sculpting, but after consulting my BvS Tech Manual which discusses the development of the movie's various props, with all the parts at their disposal, being a collector of the Speed Champions line, and having looked at a few MOCs, I just don't feel like they captured the car very well, or at least not as well as I would have expected, especially given what they've accomplished with the SC line. Too, in an interview, the designers discussed eschewing the OG two-part canopy elements in preference of just using the regular one piece curved windshield. Personally, I'd have rather they used the two-piece canopy which was more authentic and designed specifically for this Batmobile. Obviously, the old set is simplified, but I think it captures the shaping better than the new set. YMMV. Since they seem to be cranking out more and more media related Batmobiles, I'm hoping there's an Arkham Asylum Batmobile in the works and that they make it every bit as excellent as 2021's Tumbler set (76239). Furthermore, I hope they put every ounce of effort into imbuing it with all of its functions and details. That would make for an extraordinarily fun model to build and play with. I never cared for the Clooneymobile, and honestly, this set isn't selling it to me, either. OTOH, it might make for a good parts set. FWIW, I think the designers did a good capture of the overall look. The car itself was just never to my taste. Quote
Chronocidal Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I'm just waiting around for them to get to more of the Batwing designs, personally. I never really cared for any of the designs past the classic 89, which they nailed pretty well. I'd really love to see a Forever or TAS Batwing in the same rough scale as that newer Forever Batmobile though. Shame they couldn't make the 89 Batwing to the same standard though. It really needs a redesign to bulk up the body and streamline the cockpit, probably using something closer to the UCS A-Wing, or even the old TV Batmobile canopies. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I'm on vacation and had originally planned to fly out to the USAF and the Air and Space museum, but the government shutdown screwed that up so I went to a Lego shop instead and picked up some old school lego holy grail items. Yes, that's the Black Monarch's Castle in the back. 99.99% complete except for the string for the drawbridge. 😉 Quote

I knew this was coming and expected it to be good considering what the SC Team have thus far accomplished. I wasn't expecting the options to change the car's configuration nor the addition of an extra minifig, all at the usual price of $28. A great deal in every sense. I hope they do KITT, the Mach 5 from Speed Racer, the OG Spinner from Blade Runner, the Asurada and Super Asurada from Future GPX Cyber Formula. Sadly, the era of futuristic or sci-fi cool cars died in the 90s and, lacking a revival, we continue to mine nostalgia. Quote

V8 Interceptor, Ecto 1, Herbie, James Bond Lotus sub, Days of Thunder Monte Carlo stock car, Magnum PI Ferrari, A-Team van, and the Green Goblin truck from Maximum Overdrive. Those are the Speed Champions vehicles I want from the 80s and 90s. Quote
