Looks great. So far

I’m usually using lacquers since most of my kits have moving joints, how well do those particular paints you are using hold up on non static models

Well.... probably not well. Arylics are very fragile in my experience. Speaking of which, so I hit the B-52 with Tamiya rattle can gloss clear and immediately wanted to cry. Never had it happen, but apparently (after some Googling) sometimes it will darken your paint about 3 shades which it did.. So now my beautiful 3 hours of work this morning is super dark grey and my pre-shade has all but vanished. Sometimes I hate this hobby. Very upsetting and I don't really know what to do about it 😔

I find that that happens more with duller surfaces. Like the gloss colors are already wet looking and don’t really change, but sometimes the duller ones darken similar to when using pigments. I also see it more with acrylic and enamel glosses and not quite as much with lacquer

I can still see the preshading; fainter than you had it, but still there. Could you possibly hit it with flat coat and use dark chalk pastels to try to bring the preshading back out? I'd hate to see you have to start all over...

Hey @derex3592 - it has happened to me before, but it usually lightens back up once you've clear coated it over with a super flat clear coat again.  Super flat finishes scatter the light differently than glossy surfaces and often appears lighter.  It might not get you back to exactly the lightness you had, but it should get you back at least 85% to where you were.  Very nice pre-shading BTW!

@derex3592 I've had problems with clears also, though mine are usually the clear coat eating through the top layer of paint and leaving the shading showing through in glaring patches. Hope the matt coat helps it.

@tekering Looks like those figures are a good fit! You could probably make your own stop-motion episode!

Oof!

Overlooked a small scratch so I guess I strip it in some iso, fill, sand, prime, paint gloss black and then paint gold again. Annoying…

also trying to mask out the panels on the skirt armor and other bits with masking fluid instead of tape. Hope it works out. Have to put a couple layers of lacquer over it. If this experiment works out I may switch over to this method. I like brush painting and I feel it really gets into the hard to reach areas easier than tape.
