Test fitting the IMAI Gerwalk while finishing up the M.Lover Lieea.
I don’t know why but I love these old kits soooo much. The detailing and fit is interesting I suppose, but they are so endearing. The price is right and it’s fun putting lipstick on a pig. Not sure if that’s the right expression?

Will this be a straight build and paint plan? Or will you be adding a few touches?

Very cool.

Still gotta say that Imai was way ahead of their time

@nightmareB4macross I need to hunt down some official art and see what’s missing and if I want to add anything. There isn’t a blaster so maybe I take that on somehow.

@Big s They have some wonky parts which is totally manageable, but I agree they were ahead of their time for sure. I really like the scale and proportions of this Gerwalk. Going to be lots of masking/painting fun.

The Imai kits do have a certain charm, and can actually be nice builds when some work is put into them:

So true. Those are some great examples

Well I think it’s done but I want to go back in for some weathering and a matte topcoat. Had a lot of fun with this one. Paint was sloppy in spots, but I just pushed on.
Some Orguss M.Lover, ♥️♥️♥️

Wow, that was quick. And a very nice build.

Are you using an airbrush or rattle cans?

Nevermind - I just looked at the set up behind your Orguss GERWALK. ;)

Hey thanks. I’m trying to do some fun airbrush highlights with the last couple builds I have completed. I have a lot to learn. I was fortunate and inherited an iwata from my work since they no longer used it.
I did prime the kit with a cheap can of rusto and it had a bad reaction to a few colors and had to strip and repaint. I think I will stick with Mr surfacer moving forward. I do however like how easy and fast  a rattle can is.

Here’s a pic of the kit after I hit it with a rattle can topcoat Mr Super Clear UV Matt. I think the finish really brings it all together in a nice way and hides some of my sloppiness.

Deciding to just file off some small details and rebuild them post seam removal. Like the ribs on the back of the “knee”.  Adding to panels that sort of just round into the shin that had no defined edge. Smaller panels on feet and other areas.  Maybe it’s extra work but feels like it will look better in the end.

Which kit is this again?

@Papa RatI think the route your taking could very likely end up being less work than trying to do it any other way.

Good work on that M. Lover by the way. Reminds me that I have a pair to finish myself. Got to the base coat on Maiee's machine then had to put it away. I should get them done.

@nightmareB4macross I continue to salivate at all of the updates on that epic 1:55  rebuild.

"We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, faster, stronger."

Any way over here the base colours are on the Hase SDF-1.

@Chas Thanks. It was a fun one. I need to get the sister kit. Could be nice pair of bookends to the Gerwalk once it’s finished.

You are so right about it being easier to just burnish/sand off misaligned or wonky details and just remake them. It will be so much cleaner in the end. I also started putting .3mm pieces of pla in hard to reach places to cover up seams inside heels or elbow armor recesses etc... It’s magic and so simple.

The SDF-1 is looking great! Excited to see it take shape. 😊 Is the decal sheet enormous?
