Talos Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Customs from Dengeki Hobby Magazine: Only one of those is a VF-11, though. The second is a YF-27 prototype.
Firefox Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Just got mine today. Overall shape looks good, but Hasegawa seems to start skimping on details. If you compare this one with VF-1 and VF-0, you'll know what I mean; especially the pilot figure and the seat.
electric indigo Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 The next (Ocotber) issue of Model Grafix magazine will have another "Advanced Valkyrie in Action" theme, I hope to see some nice VF-11 variants.

PetarB Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Just got mine today. Overall shape looks good, but Hasegawa seems to start skimping on details. The VF-1 did not even include a figure (it was in the option pack, or you can buy a SDF version here). Still, this sounds a little disappointing. The VF-1 and VF-0 are beautiful Hasegawa models.
mikeszekely Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Sorry to necro this thread, but until Bandai makes an HMR VF-11 I was thinking about grabbing a Hasegawa 1/72 VF-11B fighter kit. I'm seeing two different versions, one that's just the fighter and one with the super packs. The one without the super packs is a little more expensive... is there something in the details of the non-super version that makes it a better fighter if I prefer to display my Valks without FAST packs?
Chronocidal Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 That feels like it's backwards, since the super packs are generally additional parts added to the original non-super kit. The price difference might be due to relative availability, since the plain kit might be harder to find now. I would check places like Hobby Search that will show the instructions and sprues in the kit to compare. I would think that the super-packed version should be capable of making both versions. Depending on how the parts are assembled, you might even be able to make them swappable, but I would bet the leg packs are molded to the outer leg halves. You might be able to rig the boosters to be removable though.
VF-1A Grunt Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Hobby Search shows the original list prices and images of the parts and instructions for both kits. The super parts are an additional sprue, and the parts are added on top of the base kit. You can even see that the instructions for the super version show what non-super parts are not used, such as the vertical tail fins. The super kit has all the parts needed to build the non-super version. VF-11B Thunderbolt - List Price 3,080 Yen VF-11B Super Thunderbolt `Macross PLUS` - List Price 3,740 Yen It might be worth shopping around some more to see if you can find the standard kit cheaper, since it should be, but it could be an issue of availability.

Or shipping, since the VF-11 was coming up about $33 and the Super VF-11 was coming up $28 with $5 shipping. To be totally clear, I wasn't doing an in-depth search for them, I just typed "Hasegawa Macross" into Amazon and looked over what came up. Both were being sold by third party sellers, and the VF-11 was shipped by Amazon while the Super is shipped by the seller. Anyway, thanks for the help. To you too, @VF-1A Grunt. Yeah, I can see on Hobby Search links you put up that the Super has the same sprues as the regular with instructions on what parts not to use for Super mode. Seems like it's better to buy the Super and just build it without the super parts, and just keep them around it case I want to change it up later.
