The characters without the writers would be nothing but empty shells with words coming out of their mouths. If the original staff aren't involved, then pass. Still I prefer SCC to both if for nothing else the extra amount of time they have to develop the characters in a series as opposed to a movie. T3 is in my list of top 10 worst movies I've seen, probably. But I enjoyed Salvation. Didn't love it, but I was entertained.
