I really like the look of that beam shield. Other than that, I want to know what this polycap-less design looks like.

YEah, I want to know too, that's why I'm kept watching news on the F91 but from all the pics I see , non of them shown anything special. Perhaps they made something similar to the Revotech joints.

wow, the custom paint job looks great, the Metallic blue blends pretty well with the rest of the color, another complete Gunpla :)

Building my first Gundam Model now...you guys must be sooooo proud! :D I'm just wondering, are the Gundam markers the Be all and end all for panel lining your Gundam or can you just use a 0.02 mm micron pen?

Hey just a question about Tamiya spraypaints, are they quick to dry? I could have sworn that I only left it for half an hour and it's dry as. ????

They're pretty quick to dry. But I usually have a "better safe than sorry" attitude towards them and leave it for about an hour + before i bring them indoors for further drying. Yeah i spray outdoors.

Cheers, I thought I had a dud mixture. It's <18 degrees too.

416123

I think Perth is warmer than Canberra..

But make sure those cans operate at a good 20-25 degrees. Keep them in a glass of warm water before using.

They'll be touch dry within 30 minutes, but heavy handling will wreck the finish. Don't touch for a good 12 hours to be safer.

Thanks, I just noticed my fingerprints. Just too excited about painting my first model, and building my first model. :D I'll leave it and be more patient, light multiple coats from now on.

Ok just finished my model a couple of days ago. ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice.

Basically my procedure was:

- cut em all off the runner

- trim down the nip marks

- sit and gawk at the ugly colours

- snip the male nubs so that they would be easy to pull apart

- build the model

- take it apart

- sand it down

- paint all parts in groups using the primary colours of silver leaf, gunmetal, italian red, matt black and matt white, lavender and chrome yellow

- top coat the main parts (red) * I gotta say, testors dullcoate, STINKS!!! *

- put the model back into it's main parts: shoulders, arms, gun, backpack unit, shield, beam sabers, legs, head, upper and lower torso

- decaled the lot

- topcoated all parts

- then put it back together

I gotta say that for a 1/100 scale, the details are still pretty small. Also the posabililty is not that great. the colours that I used for the backpack were perfect, I loved the silver leaf and the gunmetal in the sections that I picked, primarily the joints of the IJ. The biggest mistakes I made is choosing the chrome yellow and italian red (should have used brighter and lighter colours). The main body looks more like an Aegis or Saviour...

While it does look cool, I must say that some of the parts are really quite fragile. I broke a total of two pieces, I which I fixed perfectly , the other was the hinge that connected the weird forward section of the Fatum II backpack that swings over when the unit separates from IJ. That Sucks bigtime, as it's weird when swinging it back and forth and sometimes even disconnects. Beam sabers don't hold too well in their racks either, and their material makes 'em a b i t c h to paint as the paint doesn't stick.

Hardest part to paint was the beam rifle. Even though I tried to mask it, some of the paint ran. and it looks crap. And I don't have Gundam Markers, so i unfortunately can't panel line this. I might to it in grey when I get one and then retopcoat it. I will move up next to the MGs and the PGs and the 1/60s ungraded. If this is the posability and size of the 1/100s, then I am not satisfied, I dearly wish that Bandai would make all of the series in GQ MMM like the Impulse and the Strike. But Alas, it's a harsh world when you want good looking Gundams.

I'll post pics of my Gundam Soon. You guys can all laugh at my first attempt of painting and assembling.

Not bad man. The HG 1/100 line is very hit or miss. Back then, I HATED how the fingers were articulated! They got loose very quick and it was a huge turn off.

I think the MG will impress you more. They are 1/100 as well but have way more articulation and are more durable(the recent ones for the past few years have ABS internal skeletons). Not to mention a lot more detail.

The only reason I want some SEED 1/100 HG models is because right now its the only way to get the cool blue and awesome red astray as well as the sword impulse. If anything since the hands are fixed pose they can hold their weapons a ton better than the gundam wing 1/100s....had those had fixed pose hands I would not have been that dissapointed in them.

Thanks.

I was thinking of getting an MG, I saw a local having the MKII Gundam version II, the white one.

$70 USD though, to get in my hands. is it worth it?

EDIT Fixed the links to my photos in the previous post. Don't know what the hell happened.

No way man! I usually see that thing in person for 35-50$. Wait unless it came with the G Defensor...

Is it just the mobile suit alone or with the G Defensor?

Just version II without the G-Defensor. Keep in mind though, I need the shipping to Australia which is about $36 USD for that box weight. Alone should be ~$31 USD right?

You shot my brain there for a second, I wish I picked up that Zeta Boxset last year. :( Sometimes I don't know what you guys are talking about. Never again, never again. I'll wait for a region 4 release.

Yup your right, 31$ alone would be about right. Didn't realize it costs 36$ to get shipped, wow!

The MG Gundam MK II ver 2 is almost the PG scaled down, but a little better. you can pose it better, comes with a stand, and is FAR less expensive... plus the stand it comes with combines with the Zeta ver 2's stand. It also comes with "floating" mechanics if you want to have a garage-like display. The newest incarnations of the MK II, Zeta and the OYW Gundam are just AWESOME. The nemo is great too as it's a redux of the new MK II.

I just built the RX-78 PG that they were selling at Amazon. It's a sweet kit, but detail wise it's definately lacking compared ot some of the newer MG kits (surface detail is VERY poor).

In a lot of ways, it's not nearly the challenge something like the Zeta was. There's lots of interior parts, sure, but they aren't hard to put together.

Anyone here getting or got the gold frame amatsu yet? I saw it yesterday in the shop and i was tempted. But the price was abit hefty for a 1/100.

Never built an MG. Never built a 1/100 for that matter, either. I've built two 1/144's from the wing line a long time ago, and then I just got back into modeling and went straight into 1/60's and panel lining 12 inch DX figs. What can I say size does matter. So far I've built the 1/60 V2 Gundam, F91 gundam (if that counts), the Wing Zero gundam, and I am 90% done with the Seed Strike Gundam. I'm looking forward to starting my PG's next, I've had a Wing Zero custom and Char's Zaku for awhile and decided to build other 1/60's as practice. A few questions I have:

Any advice before I start?

Been thinking about the MK II titans, is it worth it?

Are the Zeta and GP-01 worth 200 dollars?

you're right. I'm hanging out for a Justice and Infinite Jsutice in 1/60. Much better size to work with and greater satisfaction.

Thankyou. What about the Zeta PG compared to the Zeta MG? I'm very nervous about getting a Zeta PG, looks daunting...AND it transforms.

417552

Heh, I've built the Zeta PG twice, the first mg 3 times, both Zeta plus units, and the new Zeta ver 2...

Go with the Zeta ver 2 MG. The PG is VERY expensive, chock full of tiny, fragile parts, and is VERY difficult to keep standing in MS mode. The Ver 2 doesn't ahve this problem. It has a ton of locking mechenisms and is stable and tight in both modes, PLUS it comes with a really cool stand... not to mention cheaper.

The PG you can't do much with. If you transform it too much, it gets VERY loose in all the places you don't want it to. It's backheavy to begin with, and it always gets loose in the knee and hip area. You really can't pose it that much in MS mode, so it kinda just stands there and looks boring.

There are a lot of MGs that need a ver 2... the Zeta most of all and they really got it done right this time. It's the only Zeta kit that has a torso swivel! It's limited, but still, it can turn.

That's great news, thanks Zeta Otaku. Now i don't have to spend so much money. it seems like they need to make PG Ver2s as well. I finally dug up some reviews of the MKII WITH pics, and it cannot pose half as good as the MG can. I'm sold.

It seems that MGs after the Freedom are top notch.
