Wow! I've never had the pleasure of watching a Macross song being performed live like that. It was kind of strange to not see it performed as an anime, and it made me apprieciate all the hard work that must have gone into producing the song and the entire work of anime for that matter. It just goes to show that a good quality piece of work will stand the test of time. Doesn't matter what the subject matter is.

I`m looking for downloads or links to buy Mari`s DVDs (Collage and Something Special Live `90) but they`re out of print. Also her first English album, No Limit which goes for 15,000yen plus these days. If anyone has this a torrent or something would be amazing. I saw the Mari download on imacross but theres a lot of key stuff missing to be honest. I`ve already been able to pick up most of that stuff at Idol specialist used CD stores in Japan for 500-1000yen a disc. Any links or information would be much appreciated.

PS did you know you can get private Japanese lessons from Mari?? Man if I lived in CA I would be so down for that.

Is she still advertising that? I was thinking about taking some lessons from her a few years ago, to see if I could finally reach that elusive thing called "fluency."

I am producing a Macross related single called “Ikiwoshiteru Kanjiteiru”.

Sorry . . . I know you have no idea what the heck that title means. Ok, I’ll tell you now.

“I’m breathing, I’m feeling”

I wrote the song in about 10 minutes? Maybe even in 4 minutes !!!! I was reading the email I received from the record company boss. He was telling me what this project was going to be all about. The melodies and words came to me while reading it. I just needed to capture them. Effortless!! That’s the best kind of songwriting for me.

The song is about “You don’t need to try so hard”.

(I’m totally singing to myself, haha.)

It’s hard enough and we are brave enough to live in this world each day. We’re breathing and feeling every single feeling we feel. Joy and pain. (More pain, usually)

Breathing is not that easy. Especially when we are hurt and feeling vulnerable. It’s ok. Don’t try too hard.

You’re ok. You’re good.

I wrote a song called “Ganbare!!” ages ago.

That means “ Let’s try our best. Ganbare, ganbare, ganbare!” I repeatedly sing that word.

I can not write a song like that any more, cause I know

trying too hard all the time actually hurts you.

Physically, emotionally.

Our body & mind start screaming “Stooooooooop!!”

All the historical (?!) singers who appeared on Macross (Original Macross, Macross 7 and of course Macross Frontier) sing together on this. It’s an ANTHEM !!

Do you get it??? And you know what . . . I’m totally , fully producing this record !! It’s about time, right.

I just finished recording my vocals.

I’m mixing the song once again with Michael Koppelman.

The single will be dropped on Oct 14 or so from JVC Victor Japan.

You know, one has to wonder: will this song be used in the franchise? If so, could it spell a return for Minmay the character?

Or maybe it's just one of those singles that Minmay released but we never heard until now. Unless the song were to appear in animated footage with everyone singing; then that would definitely be an event!
