Pre-painted Cutaway Space Battleship Yamato

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to see that ship popping up on the 'Bay. At 15 inches or so I'm actually thinking of getting one myself, as the SOC thingy is too steep dollar-wise for me. If anyone comes out with the Andromeda however, I'll pick it up regardless of the cost.

-I can't believe that anyone would want to try their luck buying the randomly packed pieces though; knowing my luck, I'd buy an 8 piece set of the ass on that ship.,..

Since NOBODY wants anything less than a complete ship, most any store that sells cutaway ships opens them up and assembles complete sets, even if they won't do it for any other blind-packaged item. Also, there are generally 2 complete ships per case, so the stores don't end up with any leftover parts.

Allelujiah! My heart is soaring! This is even more stimulating than my suspicions about BattleStar Galactica being confirmed!

-I noticed on the 'Bay also, that complete ships are being sold as opposed to just random boxes...

I just got the SOP Yamato for Christmas from my Wife, and that thing is probably the coolest toy I have seen in a LONG time.  Yes, it's spendy, but it is SO worth it.

Yeah? Do the components fit well together? The fact that you have to assemble it makes me think that there may be some issues with pieces that just don't go together properly...

Though the ships usually have the parts numbered, they don't number the variants. Thus, for the Yamato-class ship I have, if you bought a box #1, #2, #3 etc, you might end up with a 1941 Yamato bow, 1945 Yamato bridge, and a 1944 Musashi's stern. You're guaranteed all the different pieces, but not from the same variant. So you still really need to buy an "opened" set, or you might end up with half the parts being the clear version, or something.

The clear varient isn't a chase thing, it's being sold as a seperate set and each set includes all eight parts convienently numbered.

While the title may be accurate, it really sounds like a book.  When I first heard of this in another forum, and also skipped over it like 3 times thinking it was a design works artbook or something.

It's all good.....it's nice to see there are still Space Cruiser Yamato die hards on MW. I'm still crossing my fingers for Bandai to make a SOP Andromeda.

I was refering the clear hull version sorry. I was wondering if its worth to get it if the clear hull was good enough to see through but not so foggy it isnt worth it.

This little sucker is a bit fragile. Loose artillery guns and as JELEINEN described the tail fins won't really stay on.

EDIT: The small third bridge antenna just fel off!

I have to say the Takara Micro World Yamato/Musashi is built with much better detail (parts and painting finesse) then this more expensive Bandai Space Yamato.

Put them side by side and the spaceship looks rather 'rough' compared to the Takara beauty.

I am currently waiting for the Takara 1/700 destroyers and cruiser Yahagi to escort the 1/700 Yamato sisters.
