Final Vegeta Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 In Aquarion he is not the mechanic designer even though he should be the director. In Eureka 7 maybe yes, but his role seems more limited. Can't really say I like these mecha for the moment. The second one looks like an Eva clone crossed with Digimon. Aquarion seems more decent, and I hope it has a good story even if it seems a SR. FV
wolfx Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Eureka art looks like Bones/Rahxephon designer. Aquarion looks like the Getter Transformation....i'd buy the toy.

macplus Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 what a crappy looking mecha! Kawamori was possesed by Kunio Okawara! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Beltane70 Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 The Aquarion mecha reminds me a lot of the mechanical designs that Kawamori did for the original Dangaioh OVA. I like the character designs for both shows, and that one aircraft from Eureka looks pretty cool. I'll probably check both these shows once they start airing
areaseven Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Since Yoko Kanno will be doing the music, I will check out Sousei no Aquarion.
Panzer Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 DROOOOL THEY'RE VARIABLE.. TOYS WILL BE RELEASED I BET... but seriously.. where is Kawamori's sensible military design influence? these mechs are too dramatic. he's gone soft..
Angel's Fury Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Both mechs look cool. I'll check both of them out.
mikeszekely Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 The mecha in both shows look pretty similar. The designs work fine for me, but not really liking their paint jobs...
Radd Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Awww... I hadn't heard anything about either show, but I was hoping Aquarion would feature retro looking variable fighters like those in Kawamori's Design Works book. Ah well.
Graham Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Hmmm..........I'll reserve judgement for now. Overall, I'm slightly prefering the Eureaka 7 mecha and character designs a bit more than the Aquarion ones so far. That may change though as more information and images become available. Some of the female characters for Eureaka 7 look cute . Not liking that the Aquerion mecha seem to be CG animated rather than cell . Also, the head of the Solar Aquarion looks too much like a Samurai helmet. I hate it when Japanese mecha designers do that. Graham
Yohsho Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Interesting, I'll save judgement about the anime series iteself till when it airs. But, the colors Gah!

I've seen it all over the place and can't for the life of me find which anime people seem to love so much...
Dat Pinche Haro! Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 hmm...that looks a lot like the cyber-formula cars kawamori did back in the day...

Xenogears! hmm.. guess I should have done more than just go through the first five minutes, lol... thanx! I'll stop hijacking the thread now
the white drew carey Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 And no one has yet mentioned the fact that the mecha from Eureka 7 seems to be surfing around everywhere?
mikeszekely Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/31/news_6117510.html Apparently, Eureka 7 is a 50 episode commercial for a PS2 game.
