Finally the local Toys 'R Us had some Alternators again. All the stores that used to carry them suddenly stopped, for months. I'd about given up hope. Wound up out on the town before work yesterday and on a whim decided to drop in TRU, and they had Windcharger and Ravage. Unfortunately that's all they had, but I nabbed them both immeadiately. I have to say Windcharger is a nice little TF. He looks great, and is simple to Transform. I'll have to nab a recast of his gun barrel.

I heard that the author, Mamoru Nagano, didn't like the movie version at all. Heard this from a friend of mine that's also a big fan of the manga, back in the tape trading days. I'm happy that a local comic book store sells a ton of Five Star Stories books. I'm slowly picking them all up. I was pretty "meh" on the OVA, but I adore the manga.

Not to mention, if one or two consoles did launch at higher prices than people were willing to pay, the developers would take notice, and move their support to the console(s) people were buying. Third party support flocks to the system with the biggest potential for sales, not the other way around.
-
Hmm, I dare say that trailer did not suck.
-
Seems the upper price Japanese gamers are willing to pay is 30000 Yen, wich equates to roughtly $270, unless of course those were the only prices suggested in the the poll. I heard recently that Sony has stated they plan to release the console in Japan at equivilent to $400, wich is lower than was commonly speculated based on the cost to produce the console. Of course, I don't have a source on that price quote, so we'll see what it actually releases at and how that affects its role in the coming generation. The PS2 released at only slightly less than the predicted PS3 price, $379 according to Wikipedia, wich only makes the prices listed for the poll seem all the more strange.

The hands and the armour are looking nice to me. I'm looking forward to picking a set up, as well as a Cannon Fodder.

Maybe I was just dumbfounded by the photos and missed it somewhere along the way, but is this thing a perfect variable? It looks absolutely amazing, and one of the most interesting Macross toys I've ever seen. I'm looking forward to see a finished version, to be sure.

Wich version of the Vampire? The final, M3 version or the earlier Macross 7 version? I believe mahq lists them as two seperate Valkyries, but that's not totally correct. Either way, I believe most people just reuse the art found in the Design Works book, and other than screenshots from M3 or M7, that's all I can think of.
-
Wich would be horribly amusing, considering that many "childhood" stories are actually quite dark, or at least quite a bit darker than they're presented when Disney and company get ahold of them.
-
How could I forget to mention that? The local theatre is showing the movie subtitled.
-
Despite that it wasn't mentioned on any websites, even local websites, Howl's Moving Castle was playing at a local art theatre. The Girlfriend and I woke up early today and went out to catch it. Really, it's rare that you walk into a movie with high expectations and find them exceeded. I've heard complaints about the story becoming murky, but I really don't find this to be the case, myself. If anything, the story remains focused on the main characters, and does not let itself become distracted by less important matters to the story. However, it is true that this movie has a more complex story than your typical Disney fare, with their clear cut heroes with few to no flaws, and their villains with no redeeming characteristics. If this isn't my favourite Ghibli movie, then it at least ranks highly.

If it will have Boba in it, especially younger Boba, then it would be bridging the gap between the prequels and the original trilogy. Other than that, heck including that, everything is just speculative right now.
-
If this happened at all, he'd still be playing a Boba that was significantly younger than Jango was in AotC. At least I would assume that would be the time period they were aiming for, otherwise it would make more sense to just grab Temuera Morrison.
-
Rather than trying to develope a balanced, well thought out game, too much emphasis seems to be put on pandering to the complaints of people that will more than likely stick with the game even if they weren't coddled so much.
-
I wish I could find some of the comments people posted about the prequels from way, way back before even Phantom Menace had come out.

Hey, don't forget Mario 64, that was the best 3D platformer around for many, many years after. I'd go so far as to say the N64 had a solid first party lineup, but that overall it had far fewer worthwhile games than the PSX, and possibly the Saturn.
-
The sales numbers I posted say otherwise. Too bad you spent all that time typing all of that up, when all iI did was a little copy and pasting. How did your sales figures contradict what I posted in any way shape or form? I have not questioned Sony's success, only the reasons for the brand loyalty it has garnered.

I'm not so certain about that. The PSX came out with the Sega Saturn as it's only real competition. The Saturn was a beast of a machine, and could boast more power than many consoles before or since. However, the majority of that was geared towards 2D gaming. The PSX suffered in that department by a wide margin, but was noticibly better in the 3D department. It still wasn't pretty, but it was affordable hardware accellerated graphics for pretty much the first time, and people loved it. I will never understand what it is about polygons, but they wow the masses. To top it all off, the PSX was a lot cheaper than the Saturn, and Sega had suddenly stopped the advertising campaign that won them the 16 Bit generation, and replaced it with guys in styrafoam cone hats. Worse yet, Sega replaced the perfectly fine Japanese Saturn controller with a crappy one for its American release. 10 minutes of gaming would give you blisters. Not cool. So Sony had the 3D games people wanted to play. The 3d graphics (the only graphics the majority of consumers were interested in) were better, the hardware cmore affordable, the commercials were on MTV. so people followed. The PSX hardware was prone to breaking down, and it was not unusual to meet people that were on their third or forth Playstation just a few years down the road. For the next Generation, Sony really starts the PS2 hype machine. They promise it will give all consumers a million dollars, a beautiful girlfriend, multiple orgasms, the works, all while providing movie quality 3D graphics. They didn't really deliver on any of that, and while the PS2 had better graphics than the Dreamcast, it couldn't deliver graphics nearly as good as the Cube or the XBox. On top of that, until the Cube and XBox were out, good games for the PS2 were few and far between. Still, they retained the lead, and because they had the highest install base, most developers stuck with them and did little for the other two consoles. The PS2 hardware was prone to breaking down, and it was not unusual to meet people that were on their second or third PS2 a few years down the road (IMPROVEMENT!). Not to mention their much vaulted DVD capabilities were often...not so good. Sometimes it would play DVDs poorly, and sometimes it just wouldn't play them at all, though this was apparently improved with later itirations of the hardware. Now Sony is working the PS3 hype, making all the same promises as before, but this time they're not full of it (really!). Of course, they also won't have the headstart they had last time, and at least at first they may not have quite such a significant lead in developer support. If the 360 does well early on, developers could head over there. So the only reason Sony has held onto developer support is because of its consumer support, and the only reason it's held onto its consumer support is because of its developer support. Sounds like a recipe for quality to me!

Synchronicity.

MGREXX, there did not appear to be any overwhelming bias in favour of any of the next generation systems. A lot of good was said of both the 360 and the Revolution. Perhaps they took down the article you read and replaced it with another?

I finally caught the first episode of this show by way of The Girlfriend. I was certainly expecting not to like it, I mean I'm not fond of the mech designs, and I really wanted something more Macross-like from Shoji, rather than a Super Robot show. However, despite all the cheese, or maybe because of it, I found myself loving the entire episode, much more than the first couple episodes of Eureka 7 wich seemed to have more going for it. I dunno, it's early yet for both shows, and I highly enjoyed episode 3 of Eureka. We'll see.

You don't even have to go that far, 2012 saw the VF-4 Lightning III, and that was even produced before MII.
-
There's very little actually said by Miyamoto in that article, or the article it is referencing. I'm not too concerned, even if Nintendo starts making lots of little games they're likley to continue making longer lasting games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

I'll probably see Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the cheap theatres. It looks like mindless action fluff, but it also looks like mindless action fluff that's so bad it's funny. The movie I'm most looking forward to out of >EXO<'s list would be The Brothers Grimm. I've never seen a Terry Gilliam movie that I did not find to be absolutely exceptional.
