  1. Just to get this off to a controversial start, I really disliked the movies, and thought the tv series ending was perfect.
  2. The first Bleach opening is titled 'Asterisk' by Orange Road, if I understand the question.
  3. Not really this season, but Gao Gai Gar Final and Grand Glorious Gathering are both appearing fansubbed on the net for the first time. They both have the same ending and similar openers, but the edge definitely goes to the Grand Glorious Gathering opener. I've always loved the GGG opening sequences.
  4. Did anyone else see this? http://joystiq.com/entry/1234000563069679/ Apparently Target made a typo in their latest catalogue, stating the price of the Nintendo DS being $99, and they plan to honour that price if you bring in a copy of the catalog. Supposedly they also honoured the price if you brought in a screenshot from the website, however, the DS itself seems to have been removed as I can't find it anywhere on their site.
  5. I was finally coerced into seeing the trailer. Well it was not at all good, in fact it was painfully bad, I'm really not certain how one would go about making a movie based on DOA to begin with. I never much cared for the games themselves, though, so yeah...
  6. I'd rather Prime were at least as big as the original G1 Prime. If he were the size of Lazer Prime/Black Convoy/Scourge, that would have been great, I'm digging the Scion, though. I think it looks excellent. I really need to start collecting Altenators again, but almost none of the local stores carry them and I've been spending all my money on DS games. Ack...and the holidays are coming up, oh well, always early next year.
  7. Dude. Beserk for the 5200 in s-video with 5.1 digital surround.
  8. Despite how unfaithful an adaptation of the comics, I have to admit I rather enjoyed Gene Hackman as Luthor, Otis and Miss Tesbacher and all. However, I would not be at all opposed to a more serious Luthor, especially if he has good writing and acting to back him up. If they can make him fun at the same time, then hey, excellent.
  9. By my understanding, the online functionality was a last minute addition, and a lot had to be sacrificed to get the game out the door in time. Other than that, though, 'clunky' isn't really the term to describe it. It's actually about the most simplistic online system around. What it's lacking is things like chat rooms to set up games, or the ability to specifically choose opponents in races. If you have people on your friends list, and they have you, if you're both available then you're likely to wind up in a game together, but you can't really set things up more than that.
  10. I've really nothing much to say. This teaser certainly gives me more hope for the franchise than I've had in ages, but that's not saying much after listening to Kevin Smith talk about his involvement in drama preceding this current production. I like that they're keeping the classic theme, and the new lead does have a sort of 'Reeves' vibe to him, though he does look younger I think. Hard to make a call on such a short teaser.
  11. Little note, if you must use examples that contain plot points of series that many haven ot yet finished, such as...say..Legend of the Geleactic Freaking Heroes wich is only up to episode 50 or so in fansubs, so many fans have not yet been able to finish it, please for the love of God and all that is Holy, use spoiler tags!
  12. My major complaint for the game is the button layout, and that you can't change the controls. I'd much prefere if the gas peddle were the 'Y' button rather than the 'A' button.
  13. Well, only so many shows come out a season, not like every week there's a brand new show coming out of somewhere. Also, usually there's few really exceptional shows out there, you can't even count on one coming out every season. Still watching this show almost every week, but not because I want to anymore. Most of our weekly anime group agrees that the show has gonw down the crapper, caving in entirely to the DBZ trap of tournament shonen. It's even more dissapointing in this case because it started so promising. I'm also still watching Monster, and that has only gotten better. I look forward to watching two more episodes every week. Other than those, most of the anime I've been watching hasn't been new. I've started watching Revolutionary Girl Utena again, with the fiancee. I'd never been able to see past the first volume or two of the series before (due to either time or simply not having the episodes handy). I absolutely love this show, just watched the 'Onion Prince' episode, and felt it was some of the best anime I've seen in a while. Slowly, but surely, Gao Gai Gar Final and Grand Glorious Gathering are being released from fansub groups. The original GGG was one of my alltime favourite anime series, and these follow-ups do not dissapoint, except rather than a remix of Final, I'd rather Grand Glorious Gathering had been something entirely new. Take what you can get, I s'pose. I'm having fun, and that's what counts. Also been watching the original Captain Herlock tv series, whenever a new episode comes out. You can never have too much Herlock. I'm looking forward to grabbing the Galaxy Railways and Tetsujin 28 DVDs that just came out. Both are simply excellent shows, from what I've seen. I really need to catch up on Eureaka 7. The first couple episodes were kind of a let down in some regards, but I was interested enough to keep going. The next couple episodes really started to get interesting, and I'd like to see more.
  14. Now if Cartoon Network were doing the show it'd probably be great. Aquaman, talking to his fish in an aquarium, "Why won't you talk to me? I know you understand me? I'm Aquaman!" Superman wanders by, "Trouble at home?" Aquaman picks up the aquarium and begins shaking it violently, "You $%&*!"
  15. The PC version does play a lot better than the console version, afterall the mouse and keyboard combo is far more accurate than any gamepad, eliminating the need for a gimpish auto-aim. But yeah, those middle levels are a pain simply because there's so little variety.
  16. If you can get the game cheap, and you like FPS games in general, it's worth checking out. My biggest complaint with the PC version is the removal of co-op. That really hurt the gameplay, as much of the fun in the console version was the co-op, and it really helped to break the tedium of those middle levels.
  17. I went to grab Animal Crossing DS this Friday, somehow I'd gotten it in my head that it was out. It, of course, wasn't, and was listed as being an early-mid December release, so I grabbed Phoenix Wright instead. This game is completely and utterly awesome. I've only gotten through a couple cases so far, but both the fiancee and I are having a lot of fun with it. It reminds me a lot of old adventure style games, like the ones Sierra and Lucasarts were famous for, they even have that one 'powering down' sound effect that was in just about every Lucasarts Adventure game. Plus it's just a blast to watch the story develop. This would make an excellent anime series. To date I've gotten, aside from Mario 64 wich came with my DS, Advance Wars, Castlevania, Metroid Pinball, and Phoenix Wright. All of them are top quality titles. I'm curious about Lost in Blue, it looks interesting but I haven't heard much about it. Six of the eight upcoming releases at Gamestop are definitely on my 'must get' list. Sonic Rush, Metroid Prime Hunters (wich looks a lot better recently than the 'First Hunt' demo), Mario Kart (pre-ordered and paid for), New Super Mario Bros., Animal Crossing, and Mario&Luigi.
  18. Fairly reasonable given what limited information is available. Still, as the article itself admits, highly debatable and open to a number of factors.
  19. Huh, I haven't played Quake 4 yet, but I guess I had a much better impression of DOOM3. I felt the survival horror feel of the game really set it apart, the atmosphere, the claustrophobic corridors, and the ever present need to conserve ammo really helped me forgive the repetative FPS gameplay. I also didn't ever feel the weapons were too weak. If anything, I thought it got too easy by the end, even playing on the hardest difficulty available when you first start the game.
  20. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing just game out and looks to be pretty cool, Phoenix Wright has been out for at least a couple of weeks now, and early next year we have Metroid Prime Hunters, Harvest Moon, and others. I love my DS. I'm torn on grabbing Mario Kart for myself on the 15th, or holding off until I get the DS/Mario Kart bundle for my fiancee on the 28th.
  21. Of course, how many of us have had our Sony consoles off and die on us within a couple of years of use? So when Sony's faulty hardware fails us yet again, we can't play the games we bought? Will Sony have some sort of customer service that sends us on a painfully elaborate hassle just to get the games we legally bought working again? Of course this is all just rumour at this point, so Sony might not be putting this into the PS3 at all.
  22. It's not out here yet, but will be soon. I'm looking forward to seeing it. From what I have seen, I'm not big on the look of the real actors composited onto the very CG backgrounds, but I do have to admit it's probably the closest they can get to Dave McKean's art style with the budget they had. I am digging the costume designs and whatnot. A few weeks back The Onion had a couple of interviews, one with Neil Gaimen, the other with McKean. Seems there was a butting of the heads during the writing of the script.
  23. That would be Chris Farley. He died in 1997 of a drug overdose.
  24. Sega was also already on shakey ground when the Dreamcast launched, and people felt it was too early for a stab at a new console generation. OF course, currently there's feelings that Microsoft is pushing the generation change too early, but that isn't as vocalized this time. Also, Microsoft, while maybe not doing too hot in the console wars, is not as a company suffering financially. Also, Dreamcast took a big hit from Sony's PS2 pre-launch hype, much of wich turned out to be...less than truthful. Will Sony's hype be as successful this time? Possibly, lots of people have very short memories.
  25. True! I almost forgot about Sunny the Magician (who makes an appearance in Giant Robo). Little tidbit about Sunny the Magician. When the series was opted for an anime, she was renamed as 'Sally the Magician' because of the influence of a growing electronics company in Japan. It seems they thought her name was a little too close to their company name.
