  1. I read it, and I'm grateful for the review, and the pictures were very informative. Mostly though, it reconfirmed the things I was already thinking about the DX... But Im surprised that you didn't deduct more points for the flood of big flaws mentioned in the design category. Issues like that were heavy penalties to the scores of Yamatos, but I guess this is being reviewed in the context that its intended as more chunky-monkey toy.
  2. Uh.. I just skimmed it but shouldnt it be 38.5/50? Its out of 45 for some reason?
  3. With the head mod though, wont the head stick up in fighter?

    yamato's next move

I'd like it as accurate as possible thanks. T_T I like collecting unique fighter designs, and the compromises Bandai makes doesn't help accentuate that. I miss Yamato's fighter-preference, in exchange for barely-transformable fragility XD Also, the VF-17 is more unique, I'd say. The fuselage is shorter, and the cockpit further forward on the cone. The overall shape of the plane too is easier to distinguish. Besides, the VF-17 was canonically built to the best of its ability, whereas the VF-171 was a slapstick improvision CF fighter.

    yamato's next move

Yea I'd like a VF-17 Nightmare by Yamato. I'd settle for second best, a VF-171 with the weapon pack: More interesting than the VF-25 >_>
  6. I'm not a lolicon. But I'm not into giants either. So unfortunately, neither form is really 'hot'. At best I'd buy the micloned Klan for the hilarity factor. Looking forward to a Ram Hoa figure.
  7. I hope that they don't make it into a children's toy again. Im looking forward to that VF-171.
  8. If that was considered gloss then I'm surprised Bandai hasn't tripled enamel coated their Gundam lineups yet. And about licenses, although license locking is bad news for the consumer, I'm much happier with Yamato holding MacPlus and Bandai Frontier than vice versa. MacPlus was superior; only the VF-171 stood out in Frontier, and they didn't get much of a spotlight. The pilots were sub par, and the dogfighting was largely lacking. I think I'd be worse off holding Bandai iterations of the YF-21 and 19.
  9. Brera is obviously a big follower of the Ranka-chan trend. The better question is why is the Kabuki Alto present, but not the seductive Grace?

    Yamato Durability Test

Yea, but the YF-21 didn't survive that either. Lol
  11. the only thing Bandai would ever do is resell it to Yamato... But this is really just wishful thinking.
  12. Yea... But its PVC isnt it? That tends to return to its normal form quite quickly. Unless you were to somehow implant a needle that could hold it straight. it does look much better though.
  13. I don't think I've ever liked gloss on anything. PVC figs, Revoltechs or action figures. Except maybe some of the Evangelion Angels. But they were weird to begin with, and I think the glossy look fit the canon.

    Thunder Hammer

Dunno the artist... But thats Yoko from Gurren Lagen. Maybe an imageboard source request will get you further =P. Or sift through Danbooru or something.
  15. Ack. You can notice some of the paint go over the edge here on the left side of his chestplate. =/. That kind of bothers me for display collectibles. Feels like Revoltech paint quality. It looks sharp on the other side though. What happened >_< You may be able to overlook it due to its lower price tag... But I think I'd gladly pay an extra hundred to have these flaws gone (not just the paint issues).

    Yamato Durability Test

Thats nice Graham, but you should remember this:
  17. I'm going to have to agree with Radd. The need to swap hands to fulfill the basic transformation is not perfect transformation. If you could still transform it with the same hands, it just looks slightly out of scale, I can still see that as being PT, but this isn't the case. On top of that, the gunpod attachment is just unsightly. Now I'm not even sure if I should get the model kit anymore Although its not just Bandai with gunpod issues, I agree... When can they just start putting magnets in the arms to hold the gunpods? >_> Also.. Wow, that's really fast paint wear. But at least it looks like its got some battle-wear XD
  18. What... The.. Hell? You need an extra piece to mount the gunpod in fighter? And I assume its not part of the transformation.... Is that canon? Can that even be called perfect transformation!? Does anyone know if the model kit needs anything like this to hold the gunpod?

    Yamato Durability Test

A 2 feet fall isn't too unreasonable, even for Yamatos. I'm prepping myself to accept the consequences of posing a VF-0S in unhinged T bar gerwalk mode (aka extra floppy mode) at the top edge of my 5 foot cabinet in Vancouver, the city of the inevitable catastrophic earthquake. Canopy and airbrakes are fully opened, and the headlasers are not tucked against the fuselage. If it falls, I'll be picking up the pieces for the next year.
  20. Look, to be fair to Bandai... The VF-25 obviously didn't have proper cooling. Alto was subsequently fused to his cockpit after excessive flight durations. Sheryl was mortified. But its okay, cause Ranka gave Alto her Vagyra rabies babies and now he's all better. Man, its so close to the ending of Frontier, its uncanny!
  21. Yea the quality is lacking... And I seriously do not understand their choice for big chunky encasing blocks. Its like they're all stuck in cement up to their knees. Were feet pegs not good enough? If they wanted perfect sculpts, they would a. have to make their paint job a lot better first and b. they could use waist C crimps to hold them up like other figures do.
  22. Pshaw. Buying new toys increases expenditure! Good for economy! :3
  23. Lol, Jepoyako what are your GNUs doing on the edge of that toilet bowl Dont do it man! Life is worth living!

    yamato's next move

sdf will be cool, but it'll still look smaller than your 1/60 Monster... That's really going to throw off your collection. For me, I'll either get a large SDF or the monster. Probably the latter.
  25. I dont think Graham has outright advocated for Bandai either though. If anything, I'd say he's still prefers Yamatos. But now I'm just putting words into his mouth. :X
