  5. My vote is for closest to SDCC since I'm 80% sure I'm going down this year. Like Kiririth said SDCC is HUGE. You will not be able to do everything you see on the con program even if you stay for the entire week. Haven't been to a MWCon before so this could be my first.
  6. Bah. Wolfenstein for the win!

  9. BluRay boxset for me. I want the attache case with the spinner.
  10. Hmm...it might not have banding issues. Just tested that "failed" test on my computer dvd/lcd screen and the same bands show up. The gradient test could be faulty. Update, just tested that lcd test disk on my old CRT as well. Bands are there as well. The gradient tests on that download appears off to me. As I said, in actual viewing I did not notice banding.
  11. My Sharp LC42D64U has some minor banding in the very dark ranges only when running this test DVD on it. It passed every single other test there with flying colors. http://tvblink.com/ Actual viewing experience: when watching Bluray Planet Earth, as hard as I try I can't see banding. Didn't see the banding on all 3 Bluray Pirate movies or some of my upconverted DVD's(via PS3). ie Tron, Voltron: Black Lion tin set, Justice League, Moulin Rouge. Games display nicely as well. COD4, Uncharted, GT Prologue demo.
  12. Part VII is out. http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1793652
  13. Limited run. No more of this type will be made. At least that's what I believe was Yamato's plan.

  15. After denying that it was design problem, claiming that it was isolated incidents, after internet sources started reporting on failures, then finally after mainstream media started reporting in on the upwards of 30% failures did Microsoft institute the 3yr RRoD policy. They did the exact same thing Sony did with the DRE's only they caught it before the class-action lawsuits started flying. It was a great PR move. The difference was that RRoD had a home remedy(sorta) while the DRE required people to be technically adept to fix. RRoD home remedy = wrap towel around 360 and heat it up until the chips reset themselves. Really stupid because even if you do reset the chip you're baking the rest of your components unnecessarily. Could end up with component failure. BUT you don't void warranty so you can claim it just broke and get a new one. Note about replacement 360's that you aren't getting your 360 back but a refurbished one that may or may not work. Again this was noted on all the major game forums. DRE home remedy = take the PS2 completely apart, void warranty and reset the lens. If you messed up, tough. You voided the warranty yourself. No recourse but to buy a new one.
  16. DOOOO IT! The spirit of Kris Kringle commands you! Oh and for any of you that bought the BluRay Harry Potter Boxset 1-5: reports are that Warner Bros messed up and swapped one of the movies with an HD-dvd version. I think it was Goblet of Fire but check all your discs....just in case.
  17. Hilarious Japanese PS3 ads. This should help sell the console. Reminds me to login to my japanese account and check for more GT5 movies.
  18. Apparently the guys on gizmodo tested monoprice cables vs Monster cables and they claim there isn't any difference at least in the short distances. With longer cables they say to go with the brand names http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/monoprice/
  19. Anybody have any experience with buying HDMI 1.3a cables from monoprice.com?

  23. Word of caution on the Aquos. The older series, like the 62u and 72u series have banding issues. Apparently this has been corrected in the 64u series.
