  1. Must admit, I'm confused how that could happen at all. I'll have to be careful with that when I get mine from HLJ.
  2. A window of three entire minutes still sounds massively better than the typical AmiAmi preorder. You cant even load the page before they're gone.
  3. Some of the 25s I got were like that out of the box. Check the tabs on the back of the covers, they seem to get mis-molded every once in a while. Could just be flash keeping them from snapping in.
  4. Now see.. if this was in 1/48th, or even 1/60th, I think the price would be a little easier to swallow. Still, it's adorable.
  5. I honestly have half a mind to make some shapeways tails that extend the root forward into the wing to look like they actually attach to something. Might not rotate entirely flat, but it'll look loads better on the fighter mode, and nothing's going to make the tails look worse in battroid anyway.
  6. The helmetless Minmay would probably be the easiest to do, since you could kitbash the existing figure with the head and hair from the VF-1D.Well, if you have spares you want to cut up, anyway. Otherwise, it'd just be another molded or printed figure. Now that I think of it though, did someone once show a VT-1 gerwalk diorama with the tent underneath it? I feel like I've seen it before, but I dont remember if it was Yamato or a Hasegawa kit.
  7. Can we just make it a musical with Gilbert Godfrey playing every part at once? I'd actually watch that.
  8. Real world aviation? No.. but it does resemble a few naval missile batteries. Nothing that shape would fly with our current level of technology.
  9. You know, maybe that's not a bad idea.. but in the sense of "I'm going to just strip the entire thing bare, and repaint it in something not so gaudy."
  10. I liked one of the comments about the only proper way to do a robotech movie.. mash it up from three other movies. Think Top Gun, Aliens, and You've Got Mail sounded like a winning mix.
  11. If it's anything like their Trek kits, it might. Unless the entire thing comes pre-painted though, I dont understand it being so expensive. Trashy as it was, the pro-shop kit was half the cost, and 50% bigger, with pretty much the same list of features. Edit: Just watched that video.. just... no. (insert one of Duke's pics here, cant search for one at the moment.) That just looks like the most electronically bloated kit I've seen yet. Offer me just the sprues, and we'll talk, but seriously.. why can't they just make a nice model? As a side note.. interesting to make the wing markings as red plastic panels... but then you have to stick the stripes on as stickers, or paint them? What?
  12. Just grabbed one, no reason to double dip with the dual heads included. If they sell the super packs separately I'll pick up a set later, but otherwise I'm ok with just one super.
  13. I'm eagerly waiting for this ship to appear in Star Citizen, since I think it might be the first engine to actually support the full blown pilot/gunner setup for multiplayer. Might even work with the crew boarding routine.
  14. I think one of the biggest source of setbacks the F-35 has dealt with is that it's essentially a tech demonstrator that got pushed into full scale development and production. Where you can sometimes make a new aircraft, and fill it with tried-and-true hardware, or upgrade an old airframe with new hardware and capabilities, the F-35 is going for broke. It's an entirely new airframe full of hardware that's never been deployed in combat on any aircraft. So yeah, it's going to have massive growing pains. As far as it being an Air Force vs Navy thing.. the numbers they're purchasing are telling. Dunno if they're up to date, but the Wikipedia listing puts the USAF as buying almost 1800 of them, while the Navy is aiming at less than 300. Granted, that's probably partially due to the Navy having other things to focus on (and less places to put them). But think about this.. when was the last time Lockheed Martin built a navy fighter? The closest thing I can find is basically the S-3 Viking, which had most of the carrier specific features designed by LTV, since Lockheed didn't have carrier aircraft experience. Barring that, they haven't made a carrier-based aircraft since the navalized T-33 in the late 1950s. They just don't have a history with the Navy, and I think that's made the process of developing something the Navy wants pretty difficult.
  15. I think it depends on which position you'd be viewing the marking from. I think many are directed toward people walking on the wing for maintenance, so the ones on the leading edge are facing with the tops forward. On the trailing edge, the control surfaces tend to droop, so they're directed toward people on the ground, warning them not to climb up on them. I could be thinking on it way too much though. I'd need to look at some of my decal sheets to see, but it seems like they're just generally placed with the tops forward. Given the way paint maintenance goes though, I don't know if I would even expect the directions to be consistent across groups of the same aircraft.
  16. I'm kinda okay with no numbers on the tails. Far as I recall, Bandai had all the skill of a blind chimpanzee putting those markings on, and the ones on my Brera may be as much as 45 degrees off angle from each other. They're bad enough I considered scraping them off.
  17. I just reaalllllllyyy want them to milk the YF-19 a little, even if they're made to order versions. I want the supernova schemes like nothing else. Some repaints of the 0D would be nice too, but I don't know if I would personally buy any more.
  18. Much as I'd like a second set of super packs, I'm ok with them not being included. The 27 really wasn't designed for them in the first place, and all they did was bring back bad memories of the v.1 super VF-25, and the quarter-assed way the leg packs attached. If they offer them later as another web exclusive, I may grab a set though, just to quell the bit of OCD it'll cause. I'm frankly just incredibly shocked and happy to see them do something as sensible as making the heads interchangeable.
  19. I thought for sure that Brera had super-packed green wingmen in the last movie.
  20. Anyone able to translate that, and clarify what's mentioned about the head types? The labels on both say YF-27B, so I'm curious if they're actually going to do the sensible thing and include both heads... Then again, this is Bandai, so I have no actual expectations.
  21. I don't think a lot of us are that worried about the value, we just love planes that turn into robots. Bandai's supply shenanigans just tend to drive the values of many of them up in bizarre ways.
  22. Really don't need to paint it, since that will be entirely concealed inside the joint, but that looks like it might work out pretty well! Here's hoping it holds up, and fixes the issue.
  23. Think the only numbers you'd have to hide are on the wings though, and those are universal between the Skull-1 releases too, all 001. The only parts unique to each particular DYRL valk are the chest plate, tails, lower legs, and head. And if you don't care about the head that much, you could color the arrows black like TV-Roy, and have a universal head. I never did get a Max 1S, and considered part-swapping around to make one, but I prefer him in super packs anyway, so just left him as an A.
  24. This may have been mentioned before, but it's always relevant.
