  1. The part to remove to get the canopy loose might not be too hard to remove? I've been tempted to swap a few canopies back and forth to get matching rainbow ones on all my DYRL releases.

Yeah, Bandai is just kinda terrible about VF-1 markings. They've gotten them so wrong for so long, and now that they're trying to get them right, they can't figure out how to stay consistent. Speaking of paint OCD though.. does it bother anyone how abruptly the nose striping stops? Maybe it's for mold reasons or something, but I'm tempted to manually extend the nose stripes on my Hikaru and Focker so they reach under the intake more. Random side note question though, anyone know if the stands from the Bandai 1/72 Yamato 2199 kits work with the Hi-Metal stand mounts? I might have to try it later.
  3. As far as box design goes, the anniversary one honestly tops them all, since despite the fugly paintscheme, it still was the only actual art we've gotten. I did always appreciate how the M&M boxes actually make a single image if you place them side by side. I think it works with multiple faces of the box, even. I think the only major release I still don't have is a Max 1S, but I'm likely going to sell my Arcadia releases, so I'd rather have the old Yamato DYRL plastic color. I'm still looking for a Max DYRL 1A to do some part swapping with though, missed a sale here just barely.

I definitely did this with one of the Frontier releases for Bandai, and combined a valk with its super packs... which weren't going to be released for months. I've got no trouble being patient though. I ordered one Millia as soon as she went up on NY, but ordered a second one with Max once he reappeared on their site. If I could bundle all three together I probably would, but NY only lets you combine unpaid orders.
  5. Keep in mind, the super/strike pack bundle boxes can hold a lot of trays. Keep two of those assembled to store as many trays as you can (one for bottoms, one for tops), and compress the rest. Since Yamato began using smaller boxes on everything, you might even be able to do this with the VF-17 bundle boxes. The two boxes full of trays will probably have lots of room for accessories under them too.
  6. You referring to the Ozma 25, or 29? I will say my first VF-25S had some seriously nonsensical paint issues on the legs, as if the paint just got randomly eaten away on the hips. Hate die-cast so much in that regard. Fortunately all the chips are covered up by the armored pack, so they'll never be seen, but still. I've not looked at the cannon pack, but I'm considering getting some ultra thin glue to try and seep into the assorted joints that can't be easily accessed on all of my valks. Bandai just loves gluing things together from multiple directions.
  7. Should make a good storefront to crash a VF-1D battroid into.
  8. Now that I think about it, the treadmill idea is probably a lot less presentable than something like a piece of painted clear plastic or maybe stained glass. If you wanted to get fancy, you could put a sequence of cycling colored LEDs under a frosted window, but a solid surface would probably look better than any kind of cloth.
  9. A little treadmill with a strip of rainbow colored cloth should work nicely, could even embed the whole thing in a display base to hide the mechanism.

Youch, that didn't last long. Glad I got one in at NY and AmiAmi.
  11. Visuals look perfect, not sure where they intend to take the story though based on the dialogue. Could just be a red herring though.
  12. Wish Bandai had designed the shoulder covers like they actually showed in the animation, then they'd actually cover that up.

Just ordered a second Max and Millia at NY, so I'll have two of each if AmiAmi comes through. After seeing the bent up head lasers on one of my Hikarus, I feel like I need a backup to make sure I get at least one good one.

Most sites have him for around $80 US, NY seems to have him lowballed around $67, but probably will ask for more on shipping because of the extra stand that they'll forget to account for again.

Multi-mode displays, clearly. Only multiples I have are the Hikaru 1J, and 3 CFs, and a couple are meant for display on my desk at work. They're just much less obtrusive than the 1/60th scale ones.

I told myself I'm not going as deep into the HMR line as with the 1/60ths, and so far I'm not too badly off. As of now, I've got 8 counting pre-orders, and I'll grab the orange VF-1D and VT-1 if they appear, so I'll probably top out at 10. When/if they put out a TV Q-Rau, I might pick up a Max 1A, but I don't see the need for duplicating all 27 of my 1/60ths VT-1 and strike cannons notwithstanding, I'm probably sticking to just TV schemes for the HMR line. That's just classic Macross though, all bets are off if they bring out stuff from the other series.
  17. I watched a friend stream a couple hours worth of the single player mode, felt it was pretty darn impressive, actually. Very cinematic, much more story than I would have expected out of a BF title.

Wow, still up after 6 hours? Got an order in with Ami Ami, but I might still try to pick one up at at HLJ at release, just in case. Either way... phew.

I'm really hoping all these random pop-ups mean it's going to be available at release, because I just can't deal with this website whack-a-mole game.
  20. I've never liked any of the toy Y-wings because of how borked up they always left the proportions. The large-scale X-wing is amazing, the A-wing has always been spot on, and even the oversized cockpit on the B-wing doesn't bother me that much, but the Y-wing has never looked passable to me. What I'm waiting for is for Bandai to get with it and release a non-electronic 1/48 X-wing already. I'm modding the fancy one I have to remove the motors and let me open the wings without power, but I seriously just want that kit with a standard open/close snap mount for the wings.

Well, I risked ordering a second Regult from HLJ, it let me do it, I'll see if they tell me I can't. I got one on the first round, so maybe they're not as concerned about stock now?

Hrmm, still listed as limit 1 per customer though. Kinda defeats the purpose of army building, sadly.
  23. Oh, yep, I was actually going to add that I just finished slapping a 262 kit together, and loved it. That thing is like a brick by comparison, and I was surprised how tightly the legs and wings locked together once I got them aligned correctly. Didn't expect it to be so well put together from the somewhat complex assembly, but it holds together nicely. Only sloppy bit with that kit seems to be the gunpod connection, and its folding fin doesn't like staying in place, but even the split tail seems to stay pretty well aligned. I might have to get a couple more, and I know I'll be grabbing a few of the non-Keith versions later. Here's hoping they make a white Roid one too.

Freakin hell HLJ, stop doing this at 4am!! Ugh.. anyone who can grab one, I'll gladly buy it off you.. I just can't sit around and wait online all night.
