  1. It's not the same thing. The scenes with the Hydra were very fluid and were drawn in a way that was consistent in itself, thus the work of a specific animator, that was chosen exactly because he was able to animate such dynamic scenes. Because there was so much movement the number of lines used to draw things was lowered, but in no case it was bad animation, and as such authors aren't likely to correct it in the BD. FV
  2. I think the "throne" was built by the Vajra for the same reason bees build their hives. FV
  3. It's chojiku seimeitai, "Superdimensional life form". gg are correct enough, they use Close Captions. And frankly, it even makes sense. FV
  4. I think I'd go with the reference to DYRL. Misa somehow was able to decipher the notes and lyrics and then even know the song was a commercial one. There's a vague mysticism about songs in Macross. I already mentioned a Japanese term, haragei (acting from the belly), which means "comunication without words or gestures", that is, emotional comunication. From the emotions put in the song, one can learn what was a song about, even if the song was not even heard. It's highly poetic, although it doesn't make sense FV
  5. It's not that bad as CG as I was venting it to be, the models are decently complex and they are a lot of animations, but somehow it lacks the extra touch Satelight put in its CG. I think it's the lighting effects, there are things that appear to glow yet surrounding areas remain unlighted. This saves time for calculation, I suppose, but still clashes. FV
  6. Omae ga... omae-tachi ga... Omae is a singular you. Omae-tachi is a plural you. FV
  7. By the way, now that Macross Frontier ended I wish to thank all groups that fansubbed it. Keep up the good work guys, and see ya for the movie FV
  8. I'd hope they've corrected even that one where VF-171's arms are missing (in the scene where a Vajra is trying to catch a VF-171 but is blown up by Ozma). FV
  9. By the way, picoodle won't let me save the pictures, use imageshack.us instead Actually, Alto's hand is in the forearm of the EX-Gear Which was claimed to be inspired by the Vajra. If the Protoculture worshiped the Vajra, they probably lived in the same planet My take is that "trolling" means "messing with" in a playful way. Sadly, internet is full of lamers who don't know and don't care about how things are supposed to be used. Ultimately, what was a joke between friends could be used for evil purposes FV
  10. And there was a blogger who said Blassreiter had better CG In Blassreiter everthing looks like it's made of plastic It's on a par with a Transformer series/Zegapain CG. Sadly these days some people are still unimpressed by good CG It certainyl got the most shipteasing FV
  11. The reason to be stylised is that you are giving your animators the possibility to bring out the best in them by letting them do what they want sometimes. This makes feel people more part of the production rather than simply peons. About Aquarion 19, you should read what was written in pelleas.net. FV
  12. You know what, I am actually convinced that's the case Basically, you are admitting he is "getting" you so much well he deserves an appraisal FV
  13. I am guilty of using the term once. Yeah, 4chan ruins you for life On the other hand, Kawamori is explicitly toying with the audience, to unprecedented levels. Even Evangelion was more an exercise in direction, very kubrick-like, and its purpose was not always to be pleasant. Macross Frontier does not bail out on the fans instead. They have in common a postmodern approach. The key word to know here is metanarrative. A metanarrative is a grand scheme where everything is explained. This can be also considered a positive quality in writing, but the excesses of such kind of stories, which abuses of coincidences, can be easily ridiculed. The scene with Bilra is an example of that. It mocks fans expecting to see what happened to megaroad-01, which by ludicrous chance could have appeared in the story. It is to be noted that with a postmodern approach there is different emphasis on the story. The revelations of underlying metanarratives (these grand schemes of explanation) are diminished in importance by explaining them in few seconds and having characters not always being particularly impressed by them. This is not a case of bad writing, just a different aesthetic, although unluckily it's not for all. Hope this satisfied you FV
  14. I've never considered that "bad animation", more like "alternative animation" FV
  15. I wrote a post that could be interesting to you. FV
  16. Just found interesting information on wikipedia. 腹芸 (haragei) means "expressing oneself without words or gestures" (literally: "belly art/performance"). Haragei is also practiced in everyday situations, especially in business, by the people of Japan. Haragei, in this sense, is cooperating with a group without doubting the plan or asking why--for the sake of harmony. It is to suppress/punish the dissent of individuals for the goal of group harmony. This sense of the word 'haragei' might be translated as "groupthink" or "harmony of opinions". In this sense, thinking with the belly is similar but different from internet of implants Grace tried to achieve FV
  17. What? Given that it was X-Gears VS stage 2 Vajra, it had the most amount of animated 2D in Frontier, and it wasn't even bad. In fact, IIRC the last episodes were most consistent than the first ones. I remember as bad episodes 4, 6 and 8. In the others there were some "quality" here and there The worst animation is Gundoh Musashi FV
  18. This was similar to a phenomenon happened in Macross 7, there was a place that caused engine faults. FV
  19. The specifics aren't that important. Could be that some VF-27s attacked the Vajra, then fold away, and the Vajra followed them. Could be that some Vajra were kidnapped and left disabled near Frontier. Could be that it was exploited the fact that Vajra are attracted by OT engines and fold comunication. About the last thing, there's something that came to my mind. I remember once watching a documentary about snakes, and there was this snake in a room that tried to eat a lamp. The reason behind this is that snakes hunt using infrared, so when the lamp was turned on it was very visibile to the snake. OT engines presumably involve fold dimension, and everything that happens in the fold dimension is very important to the Vajra. Bilra said that "The Vajra appear to collect interstellar matter and raw material from fixed stars for fold quartz." Could be that these things are vaguely related the fold dimension. OT engines are probably the same, so they could be exploited for creating the fold quartz, and they are simply more visibile to the Vajra. FV
  20. I felt like I had to post immediately this awesome fan art FV
  21. And you haven't seen 4chan Although there were still people with the right amount of enthusiasm (spoiler because of language) FV
  22. I think Kawamori was just trolling. It was meant to be anticlimatic. Since the rest of the episode was a perfect climax though I'll forgive him that Probably Bilra's purpose for building a zero-lag fold net was exactly to find Megaroad-01 Ranka was sortieing in a Monster, making her singing inside Battle Frontier was safer. FV
