  1. No, this happened even while folding in ep. 18. I read the ethereal body leaves the body while folding in one of the older threads, but now I'm not able to find the source. FV
  2. His mecha were destroyed, but he survived. It's a double edge FV
  3. I wasn't suggesting that. Maybe it's poor use of English on my side, I used "connection" here as in "wireless connection", that is transmission of data in the implant network. This is an improper example that doesn't reflect the original situation. And anyway, with medications this kind of things is actually possible When Grace switched blood samples it was ep. 15. Developments happened. I think before ep. 14 Ranka was simply believed to be just another girl with a v-type infection, although someone suspected otherwise. Operation Carnival originally wasn't supposed to employ a Little Queen, just a Fairy. The codename Fairy-9 implies there were at least other 8 Fairies. Since it takes just a girl with a v-type infection, it's no big deal. What they would be able to do with a Fairy was not explained, but essentially though the main purpose of a Fairy appears to be the parsing of Vajra comunications. The last episode should bring some further revelations though. Grace admitted she understood the secret of the Little Queen only in episode 19, but it wasn't explained what it was. When was this stated? Because if this kind of infection never happened, how came we had medication for it? I was planning on reviewing Frontier after the series ends to catch all these details that won't be noticed much on first vision. This discussion forces me to examine the series throughly. This is the dialogue: Grace: This is the data we have regarding the Vajra and the Valkyrie. Leon: What do you want in exchange? Leon: I see. Leon: I can't promise anything until you guarantee me the validity of the information I've received. Grace: You brought a Hydra, a creature from Eden, in with this ship, didn't you? Leon: What about it? Grace: You will eventually find out... Grace: How dreadful the Vajra really are... So it seems Grace infected Hydras (or the infection was supposed to happen on its own) to prove the validity of the information she gave to Leon. Uhm... now that I think about it maybe Hydras were infected because they were fed on Vajra larvae My counter arguement is that an infective disease of the brain should cause signs of deterioration in brain functions (even changes of personality), and in the Hydra this happened. That it didn't happen in Ranshe and Sheryl (Ranka is a special case) is not a plot hole, is poetic license And the Vajra cannot be mad because the bacterium infects only their intestine, as explained in the series. It seems Vajra don't even need a brain. Well, it has more to do with opposing our heroes than actually destroying nests It was episode 15. After a preliminary 18-month research study, the 25th Fleet, popularly known as Macross Frontier, was chosen as the operational subject and was scheduled as the location of the Tour's closing performance. The main reason was its status as a bioplant fleet vulnerable to environmental fluctuations. Why there were a lot of Vajra larvae was not explained. If there is a plot hole, it's this one. Grace asked Brera to protect Frontier because at the time the alliance with Leon had still some purpose. That Leon tried to kill her in the next episode proves that he wasn't impressed FV
  4. Alpha. Bombay is different from Alpha Bombay, and Alpha Bombay should be different from Alpha FV
  5. Luca's ghosts have always been effective due to Fold comunications. See episode 7. FV
  6. It's an error, her blood type is just "Alpha" according to a picture posted here. FV
  7. I don't have read the latest posts yet, so forgive me if others have already written similar arguements It isn't. The episode 15 showed clearly Grace talking to "Anonymous" while being blown up and before being reinserted in a body. She had already realized the implant network with Fold Quartzes. As of now, I think the projection is just a projection, and what you think are turrets were simply Vajra. Every medication can cause several side effects. Have you never read instruction sheets? The reason why Grace switched the blood sample is actually unknown, but it made her look more nasty If I were to say something, I would say that Grace switched the blood sample to keep Sheryl hospitalized longer. If there was a Fairy-9 there could have easily been a Fairy-10. Galaxy was prepared to go on even without the Little Queen from the start. Anyway, Ranka was still second priority, just that the top priority was having Vajra and Frontier fight as planned. Knowing that Ranka was in the nest, it was obvious the nest would have survived (that was the objective), and thus Ranka could be rescued even later. The dialogue states that Ranka is expendable, but not without a trace of importance. No, the last time it was called a bacterium I would like to know in which episode it was called a virus. Before being called bacterium it was "infectious disease" and "v-type infection". They have Vajra in glass containers, maybe she performed autopsies. Anyway, I don't know what kind of story you would like to get from this thing. Maybe an episode where Ranshe is doing things that could have get her infected but by miraculous chance they don't, until the last minute when she cut her finger while cooking, and we get humanized Vajra bacteria high-fiving each other It's like asking where the sun went when it's night Things happen even when you don't see them. Virus don't choose because they don't have brains, they just survive in the most fitting environment. Frontier had hydras even before knowing about Vajra. The mad Hydra wasn't set up at all. Frankly, since Hydras and the Vajra bacterium don't exist in reality there is no "mystery" in how they work, they just work how the author explains them. (The contradiction in fact is why Sheryl isn't experimenting dementia, not why we had a mad Hydra ) Nowhere Grace said she was using Frontier as a nest. Destroying nests was another action to make her look nasty At the time she wasn't cooperating with Leon yet, so keeping Frontier obscure of things isn't an unreasonable act. FV
  8. I can't imagine them doing a movie in a couple of months FV
  9. There is not. In the TV guides ep. 25 was marked as last episode. FV
  10. Wilder told everything to the Earth government, so if Leon survives he will be arrested There is no good end for him FV
  11. Maybe it will never be sung in the series at all. I was thinking the most appropriate song for Sheryl would be Try Again FV
  12. Then with "The DYRL VF-1 is just as slick as the VF-0" you were referring to the cockpit? FV
  13. The mecha head is most likely to be Battle Galaxy. The Galaxy is linked with Fold Quartzes to Grace. It appears Alto tapped into their comunications by chance. The pills were mitigating the effects. This was stated clearly in episode 18. Therefore Grace was keeping her alive, although to the viewers this was cleverly made to look like Grace was poisoning Sheryl. The reason why Sheryl was discarded was because Ranka demonstrated her abilities in episode 7. gg host their scripts in their site, so you can easily access them and check facts in discussions like this one. Information that the secondary element assumed dead 11 years ago, Code Q-1, has been living on this ship was also received and considered. At that point in time however, it was assigned relatively low priority. [...] Thus, hostilities between the Vajra and Frontier developed. [...] But the biggest miscalculation was how Code Q-1, Ranka Lee, displayed her abilities in this situation, right? [...] But Major Brera, who infiltrated the Vajra Mothership for surveillance purposes, intercepted a transmission of Sheryl's singing voice, in which was mingled some other type of fold wave component... When that protocol was discovered, it truly felt like the work of fate. [...] Operation Carnival had to be drastically revised. By the way, it's not a virus That's why I called it a bacterium. Maybe it's a prion, though Why does it infect humans? Because it's a bacterium, that's what bacteria do The bacteria of a human can kill a gorilla Contamination happens on exchange of bodily fluids (something like AIDS) so it was explained in a previous episode. Not poo If the bacterium has a different effect on the humans, it could have a different effect on Hydras. For a real world example, cows with BSE behave abnormally and may be aggressive, thus they were called "mad cows". Ranshe was closely experimenting with Vajra, it's no surprise she was the first to be infected. She did find Ranka, though. Maybe she checked all people on Frontier when she arrived (that's why she knew about Michael's sister). What is this nest thing you are referring to? This is only speculation FV
  14. Maybe she secretly tried to comunicate with them, but it backfired. She said in episode 24 she wasn't able to parse Vajra's comunication until Ranka helped her. That means Ranka's song actually didn't call Vajra. I think Mao and Ranshe simply opposed Grace's research. There could be a symbolism of races (human, Zentradi, Vajra) involved, we will see. To me the queen looks dead long time ago, but since it has a lot of Fold Quartzes on her body it's still useful to the Vajra. Probably it was the original queen. Maybe it's a projection in the Fold spectrum, anyway it does not have the slightest importance. I think we got most of these answers. Project Fairy is an experiment about creating a surrogate "Little Queen" (that would have allowed to command Vajra), the v-type infection is a bacterium inside Vajra's intestine that contains tiny Fold Quartzes, Grace's original plan was explained. What we didn't get was why Sheryl was an orphan and why she was infected by the Vajra, but probably it's assumable it has to do with the 117th research fleet incident, since Sheryl is now officially related to Mao. FV
  15. It was transforming, in the next episode it will. From the way things are going though, I predict Their fighters cannot leave Island 1 undefended, so they will carry it along with them while they breach enemy positions. FV
  16. I wouldn't say it was very poor in atmosphere, just optimized for space use. Mind that it was still faster than a VF-11. SMS has them because they are testing them, but it's unlikely they will ever be mass-produced. FV
  17. ? I thought the only differences between DYRL and TV were the hands and the head of VF-1A FV
  18. They do have sentience, the queen just make them more intelligent. If each Vajra adds a bit of intelligence, the queen adds proportionally more. FV
  19. It wasn't said what it stands for, therefore the odds of all English words that starts with EX against the one word you have chosen mean that I have likely won this discussion Personally, I think the EX on the VF-171EX means "custom model" FV
  20. It must be mentioned that the VF-1 had FLIRs on the nose too. The look was obviously influenced by RL later designs though. Another thing you may not have noticed is that all VFs designed after the eighties have pointy feet, which has become a trademark of Kawamori design. No influence on the story, though Even in the original series Kamjin mentioned some kind of waves that blocks radar. While the term is recent, the concept was present from the start. Not forgetting about the Karyobin, the original Anti-UN fighter, and the Dragon II Anyway, the school of Alto had a statue of a regular VF-1 on the roof, so the answer is no FV
