  1. Not too worried about the decals... I believe they're just that, decals/stickers for customizing.

Too many stripes though. I get the homage to Focker, Hikaru and Max (Fokarius valk???), but... Thank god there's no green stripe though... Kaki gets no love yet again :D

  2. Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but has anybody ever thought about making the whole diecast lerx part of the v.2 VF-1 with Shapeways? I mean, the plastic lerx of the 1/48 works just fine and it's so frustrating when the paint chips on the diecast during transformation.

If someone can make this to match the color of the DRYL and TV VF-1s and have a smooth finish, i'd definitely buy 1each for all my v.2 valks. I would definitely consider this an "upgrade part".

  3. Everything diecast is painted white - except for that swing bar ball joint part.

Painted already out of the box.... That was cool of Yamato.

How about if you'd want to repaint the diecast lerx part of a v2 vf-1... What kind of paint will be least prone to paint chipping?... and how to get it to match wil the off-white color of the DYRL valks? TIA.

  4. Quite night at home.....got a few valks out of the case to mess with....the "come get some" armored bunch..... Figures by EXO

one of the best displayed collections here on MW.

armor is good!... and I recently nabbed a set for my Max 1S. Here are my Super Max vaks.

seats are good too... used the spare for my 1J w/ GBP-1S

on a side note, i noticed a slight discoloration on the shoulder part (the part that attaches to the shoulder hinge ball joint) of my VF-1A Max. It looks like it's made of POM not ABS. DYRL off-white seems immune to this discoloration...

  5. HKC sent an email saying that the VF-1A Hikaru 30Th w/ OP is being canceled, because they can't seem to get anything from Yamato's distributors. (maybe holding product because of the BR?)

    Panicking now!

I needed one to fix my broken VF-1S SS set.

Better act fast. I think its their last one. They previously sold 2 for ~$135

Edit - there's also a TV Kaki for 80 bucks!

  6. Holy crap, what a score! What do the local VE-1's and VF-4's cost?

I know! I didn't bother asking myself if i really needed another set or not, i just grabbed it.

I think the store didn't bother to up the price on this since its technically not a VF toy (????)

    VE-1 is @ ~$260+ and VF-4G @ ~$500

  7. Are the diecast parts of the vf-1 kit unpainted? I noticed that the swing/hip bar looks unpainted.

I'm looking for a type of paint that will match the DYRL white and will not chip off easily during transformation. These diecast parts endure a lot of heavy contact with the plastic during transformation w/c makes them prone to paint chipping.

Again, awesome custom.... Very nice clean lines.

  8. kinda having thoughts about selling my -17D w/FP's & -19Kai now...

unless you really need the money or really hate Mac7, keep 'em.

    ............

I found this just lying around at a local store (got it for $60):

now my Max 1S can also sport his own SSPs.

That is actually an awesome price. Where did you get it?

got it from a local seller.

there's still a couple of 30th VE-1s and VF-4Gs locally, but just too rich for my blood.

  9. don't want to give anyone any false hope or anything but there's a tweet by arcadia from 4/12 that quotes a mr. k saying "i look forward to our continued relationship"

there's hope for an updated YF-19 and a TV SDF-1!

Plus, like others have mentioned, i do regret not getting a couple of obscure valks that got little screen time (VF-1D VR and Hikaru's VF-1J training valk)... but I do have all the valks that really matter to me.

...and what about that $466 VT-1... craaaazeeeeee! I'm glad I bought 3 cheap for me and a couple of other Macross collectors here years ago.

  10. Just bought a 30th anniv. VF-1S Hikaru to replace my old one (old crotch, tinted canopy and slight discoloration) w/c i sold off a couple of weeks ago. Got it for ~$125 w/c is pretty good considering the crazy prices these days.

I really wish we had gotten a new YF-19 before Yamato went under. It was the only valk i was waiting for them to make. :(
