The HMR VF-0s are very nice looking and solid once you've transformed it to your desired mode. Can be fiddly during transformation. Plastic parts are thinner compared to TF toys which gives it a sleeker look compared to the chunky look of TFs.
You can't go wrong with the VF-4 in any scale. The HMR version will be out early next year, I think.

This is one release where I prefer the packaging over the contents.
I'm personally waiting for the VF-4 reissue, to go with my 1/60.

Definitely. Which is why I also got 2 (w/c I rarely do), like most who got the 0A. A standalone ghost set would definitely be a TWE.

I started the new season and I'm not sure I'm feeling the show anymore. I've come this far, so I'll finish it out, but I'm definitely ready to be done with it.
Ditto.

Definitely lots of cheesy scenes and cheesy acting. Sensei Johnny saying and doing dumb s*** used to be really funny but now it's gotten old.
I think the only reason I'm still watching this is coz of nostalgia and to catch a glimpse of Mrs. LaRusso

I think lots of us saw lots of outcomes in the new DX YF 21 the very first day that was shown, me for example said back in the day the nosecone is too small and not large enough , some said is just the picture angle that is making the design not look accurate, I even think I point out the design specially in jet mode resemblance the Yamato YF 21 1/72 scale, I wonder why Bandai didn't see all this design flaws and the huge separate backpack, damn!!, I think Bandai should it put the DX YF 21 back to the drawing boards, Bandai they definitely can do a much better job and the DX YF 19 proves it, also if Yamato can do a much better job more than a decade ago why Bandai can't with todays new design tech?, DX YF-21 Renewal in the future anyone?
I'm actually hoping more for HMR versions of the 19, 22 and 11B. One can wish...

Just shows how posable it is.
This VF certainly looks stable and rugged. Fighter mode is pretty good, but I actually like Battroid the best!
Yeah, I like the buff look of battroid. Can't wait for the VF-1S that I preordered. But I do hope Threezero will make some improvements, like with the elbow joint and other stuff mentioned here and in some reviews.

After watching this video, I'm actually tempted to get one of these.
Some weird poses near the end...

Why no Super Packs?

Finally got my VF-0As.
Very nice figure, but definitely a challenge to transform and pose without pieces popping off left and right.

Bandai is a pretty small company and couldn't possibly handle the cost of replacing all those broken head lasers.
Lol, made me remember the time I googled "Bandai net worth" out of sheer curiosity.

I actually rather have a weathered version instead of the normal, just so to have more differentiation between the scores of other Rick / Hikaru 1Js that I have in other scales.
On other hand, the weathered edition as TZ is showing now looks a bit different from what we normally see as such on other toys. Here it just looks dirty.
I thought the same thing... looks like it's just dirty.
The official pics make it look almost like it's battle-damaged instead of just plain weathered like the old Yamato weathered versions.
Kinda like this custom by @winterdyne below which I sorta copied when I had my extremely yellowed VF-1J custom painted.

Is that nylon holding up the YF-29? I've done this for Legos but too scared the nylon will eventually damage the plastic due to the weight of the valk. Cool display though.

Awesome display @Test_Pilot_2. Drooling... regretting selling my VB-6 coz of cracked joints.
feels great to finally have a YF-29 again after all these years. Still trying to decide which mode to display it in, but I'm leaning towards GERWALK.

Wasn't planning on getting any Macross merch and just waiting for my preorders to come in from now until Jan. '25... but $150 shipped for this was just too good to pass up. MISB from a JP store (he upped the price as soon as mine shipped out
).
As a huge Mac+ and Isamu fan, I've been eyeing this for years, but the one's I've seen locally were just too overpriced. There are apparently a lot of these popping up on JP online stores and on Madarake. Guess the scalpers finally gave up on this or l just got lucky.
And for a 10+ year old toy, this one comes with an extra head laser.

I'm living in Japan and almost 8 years ordering stuff from many shops, and you know usually everything arrives at the day of release. But this time (and not only for me) most of nonresellers shops delayed delivery for about one week. So i think Bandai rushed things with this particular toy. And there many toys with small deffects. Well I just received mine few days ago and fortunately everything was ok, but still I was unable to turn legs in right position because of incredible stiffness.
By the way, I made a video. It is not as good in terms or explanation (since English language is only in subtitles), but at least it is good to see how this particular toy will looks like in different poses.
DX Chogokin YF-21 Guld Goa Bowman use (Macross Plus) Review (english subs only)
You one-upped @graphic revolt!
Pants are on backwards in both GERWALK and Battroid modes
I'll add this for extra giggles
... but good, honest (and sometimes funny) review nonetheless:

Cheers to that. They've done some incredible engineering for their Gundam stuff, and their VF-19 advance, the version of their -19 that I have, is really well designed with some great solutions to eradicate the need for partsforming. Heck, I really like their VF-25 renewal, but YMMV. Then this. I'm guessing it was a very different team of designers working on the YF-21 because the level of investment on their -19 is simply not there. It's a notable dichotomy in approach and standard, unfortunately not for the best.
I too prefer Bandai's YF-19 specifically because of the no-gap chest in battroid (and the shield-integrated cover and no extra bits for the back of the thighs).
What's most puzzling to me is that the Yamato version was there for them to copy what works and that this was designed almost at the same time as the HG version. Did the design team for the DX suffer some kind of temporary blindness or something?
They got the legs right, though.

I hope feed back on this side of the Pacific is being heard. I expect it to be heard by Bandai domestically.
wait what what!! It's non removable?!
And you have to send the whole thing in??
what a cluster f***k...
Posted by @Actar on the previous page. And it was, rather roughly, removed in one of the previously posted youtube reviews.
-
At least it had corner protectors on it.
Wait, those corner protectors should be on the toy box, doh.

Them legs, my ocd triggered!🙃
i was gonna say that GERWALK mode looks good but then read your post and realized the 21's pants are on backwards.
-
Lol, the reviewer manhandled the antenna when he removed it and it didn't break. Makes me think that someone at the factory is punking Macross collectors

It looks like that supposed 3rd elbow joint is fixed. I hope threezero is checking this thread and will correct this and whatever else for the VF-1S. They have at least 6 months to make improvements.

You might want to look into ThreeZero's Robo Dou VF-1S for preorder, due out early next year as well. It's more chunky looking compared to the Yamato/Arcadia... might be a better match to display with TFs.

I have the Focker 1S on preorder since I've been wanting to get a new and more modern VF-1 toy that isn't overpriced/heavily scalped like the DX Chogokin version. Plus the DX is too big for me at 1/48 since I don't really have any more display space.
