  1. Ha! don't joke, that might not be too far off, considering the former King Duck (Jackson, right?) is already a grown actor. he can take on Estevez' role and form a new roster. throw in a Jonas brother and you're all set.
  2. Perfect point. after all these years, whatever Megaroad story they come up with -- no matter how awesome -- will most likely fail to live up to the hype that has been built up in the heads of macross fans.
  3. No kidding. i mean, who starts playing guitar with a Gibson Les Paul?? Seriously? (yeah she got it at a discount, but it's still a freaking Les Paul! lol)
  4. Finally watched K-on. Mio's my favorite... specially when she goes into her fits of fear and/or embarassment. and when she was transfixed on the left-handed bass guitars in the shop... "yada". priceless!
  5. Yeah, i actually saw that movie, and i found it surprisingly satisfactory. i had doubts how it could be made into a movie... but it turned out ok. i always thought that Atlas Shrugged was something that could be translated easier into film (which Brad Pitt plans to produce, IIRC), since it has that "who is john galt?" mystery behind it. hey, it worked for laura palmer, didn't it? Ayn Rand's stringent and uber-high standard of the ideal human aside, i always liked her thesis on how to live: "the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
  6. Ok, so am I the only weird one here who loves Ayn Rand, and was actually interested in what would eventually happen to Howard Roark, storywise?
  7. 2 separate scenes. i think lobizon is pointing out that both of them have the habit of waving goodbye while walking away without looking. wait, what?
  8. what the... now where the hell did that come from?
  9. Why, certainly I could not be possibly be referring to anyone in particular. To think that there could be such a person... ¡qué horror!
  10. Doesn't bother me at all. sometimes, people just get so excited about a trivia they heard somewhere about their favorite show, that they accept it as gospel truth. and it's easy enough to point out the truth to them. what should really bother you is not a lack of research, but someone who claims to have done research, but continues to misinform everyone anyway. si?
  11. Hmmm... think the secret elves got him?
  12. now THAT'S taking the sheryl=basara argument in the other thread a bit too far.
  13. never been banned. ... ... damn i'm boring.
  14. english to spanish translated into english back to spanish and vice versa translated into japanese, and so on....
  15. I watched it a second time, and it was better than i first thought. i don't know why. maybe it's because i wasn't expecting any scenes from the book anymore. wasn't as jumbled as i first thought. the destruction of the weasley home was still off for me, and the ginny-harry romance was still a bit forced, but here are the things i particularly liked: - the added focus on Draco Malfoy and his character development. In the book, it seemed he played a biog role at the start, disappeared for most of the book (except for being the victim of a sectumsempre spell), and appeared substantially only at the end. in the movie, he was juxtaposed against all the major events in the movie. for every lighthearted moment in Hogwarts (christmass balls, snogging in the halls, etc), there was usually a shot of draco skulking in the shadows. nicely done. - acting of radcliffe, watson and grint. grint's comic timing, in particular, was brilliant. - the scene after the start, at the diner (where harry was trying to hook up with a girl) was a particularly nice touch. also loved the opening scene, which was a brief transition from OOTP to this movie.
  16. Much much better costume design for Brera. i may actually be able to respect him, this time.
  17. I liked the books as well. and Half-blood prince is probably my favorite. i think, more than the other films, this one didn't live up to the book. but if there's any reason to watch it (other than that sense of duty), is that it's a set-up for the book 7 movies, which i am hoping would be much better, given that they are dividing the book into 2 movies.
  18. now that you mention it, the destruction of the burrow really came out as odd to me. ok, so the weasley's home, a place of security for so many years was destroyed, and then.... nothing. no displaced weasleys. no scene of them coming together in the face of tragedy, like what happened after arthur weasley was attacked by the snake. not even a mention of it later on. just something that happened to try to add some more darkness to the movie... but if the director was really trying for some particular kind of emotion from that scene... well, it sure didn't come out. yeah, the movie was jumbled. the book was able to magically merge the HS romance and the dark plot seemlessly. the movie... not so much.
  19. I liked it. But it's nowhere near as good as I expected. I felt cheated by the lack of the fight at hogwarts. And i expected harry to be a bit more strong and outright aggressive in this one. in the book, he was the one who kissed ginny... in a crowded room, no less. and the only thing that stopped him from coming to dumbledore's aid against malfoy and snape was the fact that he was frozen. here, he actually stood and watched. didn't feel right to me... felt like harry hasn't grown up to be a hero as much as he should have.
  20. Evn his sperm were "aces".
  21. In the other thread, someone also pointed out that a new haruhi episode made reference to Kakizaki and and itano circus. Speaking of references, i remember this particular scene in Tora Dora when one of the supporting characters (Haruta) dressed up in girl's clothes, and i could swear he did a "kira" pose (along with the star for effect). i'll try to get a screencap later, but for those who've seen Toradora, was it a kira pose? is it even possible that it was a reference; after all, what came first, MF or ToraDora?
  22. well whaddya know. miss macross competition between mari, chie, megumi and may'n!
  23. All of them combined forms Maia Sterling, whoeverdafrackthatis.
  24. Well whaddya know... i only noticed it when you pointed it out. the concert does fall on the same month and year as the miss macross pageant. nice catch.
  25. well, he did hold his own against the Ghost for a while. that must count for something.
