  1. they could also be sending out unmanned scouts to an area before they fold. also helps to prevent folding into a galactic battle. we saw this in ep7; although they sent manned scouts, it would have been easy enough to send robot scouts instead.
  2. My skull is being crushed by the sheer AWESOMENESS of Robogeisha!
  3. i LOVED Claymore. the anime was just too short.
  4. I don't think it's specifically a cultural thing. these days, everything is on fast forward, every minute is precious, offline or online. Once we're in a web community, you start to pick out some people you trust for vital information, scoops and other trivia. Once that person has attained a certain level of trust, you don't double check anymore. specially considering how difficult it is to verify given the availability of materials and the language barrier. this is not an excuse for what Shaloom did. If anything, it makes what he did so much worse. when a information-sharing network has become based on trust and goodwill, the misuse and abuse of that trust is a betrayal of the highest order. specially among people who are passionate about the information.
  5. yup, that he is. that he is.
  6. And what about Koji Kabuto? forget guitar controllers. he's the only one i've seen pilot a mecha using an exercise bow bar.
  7. arg!! can't wait to see this movie!!!
  8. Pre-parade from Tora Dora.... again... and again... and...
  9. well said. +1.
  10. doesn't hurt that the Haruhi series even made a reference to Macross 7. so you just might have something there... Bomba!!
  11. you're right. i guess subconsciously i don't really want to know.
  12. Thanks guys for the translations. well, that's about as much an admission as we'll ever get from him. i'm not at all surprised, and it's actually what i thought his reply would be. it's not as if he would come out and say that "i made it all up!" funny how he made a big deal of how the issue could have been put to rest earlier if his "friends" had contacted him directly, when he doesnt' really resolve it at all, in the end. so what else can i say, but...
  13. dagnabit, now why didn't i think of asking that?? an opportunity missed!
  14. wow. a potshot in disguise, if ever i saw one. all i'm saying is that chewie didn't even go into the merits of the movie, and just voiced out that he liked it. why then the need to explain yourself? you said that you didn't come into the movie with bias. that's fine, and i never saw any reason to disbelieve that at all. but i don't get how that list of "plot holes" was supposed to prove that you had no bias. non sequitur. as i said, no one questioned it. so if anything, that came out as... "how could you possibly think that was a good movie? didn't you see these things that are wrong with it?" if that was not your intention, then i obviously misunderstood. i don't think i called you a name or fabricated bull about you. but if that's how you felt about it, i apologize. frankly, i feel a bit embarassed that i'm even arguing about TF. so i'll stay quiet now. peace.
  15. Ok, some of us have been quite vocal about us enjoying the films, despite its "weaknesses". It's not as if we didn't recognize these things. it's not as if we're really morons (i'd like to think we're smarter than the average bear). how about we just say that we were just fortunate enough to go into the movie theater with the perfect frame of mind to enjoy it for what it was, so much so that these plot holes you mentioned just didn't bother us too much. if just for that, can't you be happy for us? quite frankly, you giving off a lost of plot holes, and your condescending tone on enumerating them, doesn't really help. The fact that you have a list already seems to show that you're already making up a case for "why i should hate this movie" , as if you had to defend your position. you don't have to. I actually read Topless Robot's Transformers 2 FAQ's and I loved them; utterly hilarious. mostly because the plot holes are there, and i did recognize them, but it doesn't change the fact that i enjoyed the movie nonetheless. in that sense, i'm just lucky, i guess.
  16. yeah, specially with the trailers that i've seen. eva 1.0 more or less followed the series with some minor changes, and major design revisions. But from 2.0 onwards, looks like it's gonna be a different ballgame. man, i can't wait to see it! what? wait, this is a macross thread? sorry. back to topic, i'd gladly wait a bit longer for MF movie 2 if it means a new story.
  17. Here's an interesting read: http://www.tnmc.org/The-Blog/star-trek-what-you-missed.html
  18. It's great that you're having this interview VFTF1! and those are pretty good questions so far. additonal: - how different/similar is it working with Kanno Yoko when compared with other composers you've worked with? Does she have certain styles/musical preferences that are unique compared to others? - what is the total composition of Warsaw Philharmonic (members, sets and instruments), and what particular sets or instruments does Kanno Yoko tend to focus on in her arrangements? Good luck with the interview.
  19. It's actually kinda cute.... until it got to alto... i mean asuka... i mean... Whhhaaat??
  20. Yup, sounds right. and given the importance of "culture" in winning the space conflicts on earth's side of the universe, it's actually Sheryl's way of declaring "do humans kick ass or what??!" to which the crowd replies, "Hell YEAH, we kick ass!!"
  21. Yup, can someone edit the poll? it would be nice to get a feel of the opinion on T:ROTF as compared to the first movie. EDIT: Thanks!
  22. On an entirely different note... since we actually have a mini-decepticon humping Megan Fox's leg, does this mean this is actually the way cybertronians procreate?
  23. I noticed how Optimus has gone dirty harry in this movie, but i'm not particularly bothered by it. in fact, it made sense to me since these sentient beings were supposed to have been fighting a war for ages. made sense that they'd kill each other any chance they got. on the other hand, humans better start worrying if they ever declared war on optimus prime... p.s. the "I stand, you fall" part is probably another reference to the animated movie line (one of us stands, the other falls), which was also quoted in the first movie. although i have to admit, i felt that particular line was forced in this movie. "hey prime, can't you think of another one??"
  24. same here. i liked it way way better than the first one. pacing's much better, and i didn't feel bored at all with this movie. it didn't feel like 2.45 hours. much of it is the better pacing. and less focus on the humor aspects. (or maybe it's simply because there's no Anthony Anderson in this one. sorry, but he really spoils any movie for me. i abhored all his parts in the first movie; they were just so out of place).
