I don't mind Re.Fire. It is simple yes, but Gubaba has a point, it gets the point across. Naming it Ultimate Fire (despite the possible confusion with Ultra Fire) might be a bit presumptuous at this point as well.

I've also considered Jungle Lady, so thanks for the recommendation Renato, I'll look into it. Right now I have to pick and chose the things I get. I am on a rather small budget right now and any of these CDs cost about $35 at least for me to get online (definitely nowhere I can get these where I live). So I don't quite know when I will be getting what, but based on that nico video link (which I actually saw earlier today before this topic was up) I think Re.Fire might be my next purchase. While I agree that Fukuyama has a lot more ballads in his recent stuff, I still really like that stuff. I haven't heard anything from Allegory but I liked almost everything on Yellow House, some tracks more than others. Isshukan and Help Me are two that for some reason really stand out there. Nonetheless I too am greatly anticipating the powerhouse tunes that video previewed for Re.Fire. Fukuyama's music is great all over but when he does Basara and Fire Bomber, he really lets the Fire Burn! As for the overproduced nature of Fire Bomber... yeah it is, which is one reason I was so pleased with Fukuyama Fire and some of the concert performances like Electric Fire 2007. It was all the old stuff I loved (old is a relative term considering I didn't get into any of this until about a year and a half ago) but with a fresh and bold perspective. I really haven't heard anything of Hummingbird, but I am interested. Even though I am sure many here can offer good suggestions, I'd like to be able to hear some of the stuff before I went about buying something (especially with my budget). That kind of opportunity doesn't come around very often with this type of music for me though.

Re.Fire comes out on the 14th actually. However I am completely psyched for it! Wait.. hold on a sec... BOMBAA!! Ahem... continuing. I think this thread is a wonderful idea. Macross 7, a show when I started watching I thought I would hate, ended up turning me into a full Fukuyama fan. I've listened to the majority of the songs from Fire Bomber but as far as Fukuyama's other stuff I've only every heard one JAM Project song, all of Fukuyama Fire (which is just remixed Fire Bomber as it is), and Yellow House (great album btw!). I've listened to several singles as well, like Wakugai with Fukugan (agreed Renato, amazing stuff), and Makka na Chikai (I just really like this song, and I've never even seen a lick of Bosou Renkin). I do plan to at some point buy the album Allegory, which I hear is great. So far my favorite Fukuyama song has been and probably always will be Totsugeki Love Heart. Easily the best from Fire Bomber and I have liked every other version he's done, including the Fukuyama Fire mix. I am interested to hear the version that will be on Re.Fire. As for Burning Fire, from what I've heard it sounds like a really amazing song, and I can't wait to hear it in full.

if you were building a custom valk stand for your mantle.....

I know your pain. The 1/72 models do the 25 good justice, but they are not as tough as the DX or any Yamato birds. -

The 25 is a pretty bird, but the Bandai DX's are almost not worth it. However that is your choice, I have never seen a DX in person but the stories and reviews are enough for me. I'd love to get a VF-11 though... but it is damn expensive... I'll stick with the 1/60 v2 VF-1S Max as my next and second valk. -
FIRE!!! Good choice they made using the Fukuyama remix of Macross from the Tribute album, I love that rendition. They did an equally great job of editing that too considering this is the best of the video we can get.

Don't misunderstand me people, I am the one that made the prediction of the likelihood of a redone series two pages ago where I clearly noted how unlikely I believe it is. I will admit that I should probably know more about Pachinko, but I find myself kind of uninterested for some reason.

Keep in mind I know very little about how modern pachinko machines are set up or how they work. I have a limited understanding of the entire thing.

Awesome, M&M action! Still, something is amiss. This is a lot of work for a simple pachinko game... One can only hope anyway.

You know you're a Macross addict when you....

I haven't gone to any of these levels... but they do all sounds rational or cool, so I guess I fall unto that category. Oh, and I did successfully go from Robo**** to Macross. Never looked back either. -
While a reanimated SDFM would be so totally awesome (except for some die hard purists) I think we can all be reasonable enough to realize that the entirety of something like that happening so spur of the moment despite this being the year the show takes place is so unlikely that the Earth is more likely to transform into a large flower eating parasite which then goes on a rampage through the universe before becoming lovers with a black hole which results in the planet's untimely end. Still though that would be awesome. I sure hope to get a good quality of any of this video one day. From the screens it looks like they did the entire SDFM opening sequence. That alone would be enough for me.

Wow, reanimating stuff from SDFM for a pachinko game? That hardcore. Nonetheless I too would love to see more of this, especially CG SDF-1 and Hikaru vs. Kamjin.

The Pachinko game must run off of song energy. It's the only logical conclusion.

That is why the VF-27 is designed for cyborg use only, .

I actually have wind tunnels at my disposal.. I'm not supposed to use them for random things though, as they are expensive. So I can't do much about that. I probably won't even use the wind tunnels much. My major is Astronautical Engineering, a focus of space craft design. Though in truth that makes me fully capable to design an aircraft, both Aeronautical and Astronautical teach you all you need for either, there are just some minor differences. They're made of foam... I could go into detail about that, but I am uninterested and don't really want to think about it at the moment, lol.
-
That pretty much settles it in my book. I could probably figure out if it could fly with a T-W ratio of less than one... but again I think I need another years worth of education for that (and I'm lazy enough not to look up the information to figure it out now, unlike Schizo who seems to have a good grasp on more of this at a younger age, lol).
-
It would... but it isn't going to happen. You read enough topics and posts on this forum, and you'll understand why eventually.
-
Doesn't sound wrong Schizo, but I haven't had much education in structures or materials yet so I can't back up a lot of it. Way I see it though, the lifting capability of the VF-1 fuselage is moot since it does have large angle thrust vectoring (the angles those exhaust vents move is far larger than any modern thrust vectoring engines, mostly due to the fact they become feet when the VF-1 transformers), and the nuclear fusion powered reaction engine could put out more thrust than any modern conventional turbine engine. To make it an effective fighter in the atmosphere they couldn't ignore making it with an acceptable airframe (as opposed to just letting it be a brick with big engines... like the space shuttle) but my point is it doesn't have to be perfect. Those engines can handle keeping the plane up and still be graceful in flight. It's like a gooney bird, looks completely ungraceful on the ground, but flies very well.
-
The wingless F-15 story is legendary among engineers and pilots, but that was more a testament to how incredibly powerful the F-15s engines are than it's fuselage making any decent lift. The axiom says, put a powerful enough engine on it, it will fly. I think twin reaction engines will do the trick just fine.
-
Well in conventional jet engines, the main thrust is a mix of compressed air and jet fuel. The turbine takes in air, mixes it with fuel and then ignites the combination resulting in a powerful burning reaction that is forced out of the back of the engine by path of least resistance. Afterburners basically work by squirting extra fuel into the exiting thrust, making the reaction more powerful and producing extra thrust. This is the same for passenger jets as well as fighter jets (except passenger planes don't have afterburners, lol) but the systems on fighter jets are tuned to a greater thrust capability than any passenger jet. As for the VF-0 underwater, I always assumed the engines took in extra air before the intakes closed and used that air to help create its thrust underwater. It wouldn't last long but they did say it could only stay underwater a short time. When it comes to the reaction engines of the VF-1, everything changes. There, some type of nuclear fusion (based on the fictional Macross reaction technology) occurs which heats up the air taken in by the turbines to the point where the molecules excite to a plasma state which is what is forced out the back of the engine. The VF-1 has something called overboost like afterburners but I don't know if it was ever explained anywhere how that works, perhaps the turbines spin faster to gather more air for higher thrust. What makes the VF-1 reaction engine so much better than conventional is how clean it is. The exhaust is entirely super heated air, which would cool down eventually, instead of air/jet fuel mix which is about as environmentally friendly as car exhaust (probably less friendly). To work in space, valkyries would probably carry some on board propellant like hydrogen or something to replace the lack of air they can use. This propellant is what it heated up by the fusion for thrust in space. This is mainly conjecture though, they never stated what they use for propellant in space in any series, but it would be limited, unlike in an atmosphere. Fast Packs probably carry extra propellant.

Pete that was a very nice explanation about Macross 7 up there and I can't agree more. I don't particularly like or understand why they needed to go the song energy route, but at the same time, I like the concept that you can amplify an energy based on the emotion of song to easier reach someone else. The reason I like Macross 7 isn't all the cheesy stuff. It is at its core, still Macross. Also I've grown to respect Basara despite his obvious faults and think he is a pretty good character. You also have to respect someone who can fly a valkyrie using an acoustic guitar to manipulate the controls (Dynamite 7). I also love the music, the show made me a full on Yoshiki Fukuyama fan as I've said. Simply BOMBAA!!

Macross, by definition in the Macross universe, is the official name of the SDF-1. Hence it is usually labeled SDF-1 Macross. In Robotech they changed it so the island was already called Macross island and that is why the city on it was named as such. Robotech just called the ship SDF-1. In Macross the ship was named Macross because of its large size (I think the in universe reason is Macro(Big) Space Ship or something like that). In reality the story writers called it Macross because they were compromising when one person wanted it to be called Macbeth, and the romanization for Macbeth and Macross are similar. Macross city was so named because it was built around, and later inside the Macross ship. Also if your curious, in Macross, the island ASS-1 crashed on was called South Ataria Island. It is still fictional, but it makes more sense to me than Macross island.

You and me both March, you and me both. Though being an engineering student, if I had the time, I could try to figure out if the VF-1 was aerodynamically feasible. However I don't think I have had the high enough education to do that much, and besides... I'm an engineering student... I have no free time...

Where can I see this video? If it is on youtube I'll look but a link would be nice. EDIT: Nvm, I found it. Wasn't that hard.
-
That's not fair, Basara is clearly right handed in the show. That last picture is all wrong, lol. Not to mention the one you labeled as Basara is playing a base, and you labeled Mylene as the main guitar, when they are in actuality the other way around. To be clear on where I stand: BOMBAA!!!
