  1. Well, OBVIOUSLY Mospeada was a HUGE SUCCESS! It was so popular it led to LLA which HG is bringing to us in a modernized version. ALSO, it had a super successful toyline back in the 80s with pieces worth hundreds of dollars today. It even had 2 new toylines in recent years just due to its cult following. The toys were even packaged here and "sold out before they were even released" according to McKeevie. Don't forget, once the Shadow Chronicle turns into ChronicleS, it'll be selling GANGBUSTERS in Japan as a true Mospeada sequel! Yup, it's a great time to be a Robotech fan but an even greater time to be a Mospeada and even Southern Cross fan: Robotech LLA with new MINUTES of animation featuring Mospeada and Southern Cross, a 25th Anniversary Soundtrack which will be out by the 30th Anniversary, toys ready for sale as soon as the boat leaves dock, a new Mospeada - I mean - New Generation RPG (once it meets the strict HG guildelines for quality and gets approved), and the Rising Shadow Chronicle. And remember, the SC wallet and matching wristbands are STILL IN STOCK at rt.com!
  2. I can't stop laughing from this! I definitely agree with the first part of the chorus...
  3. Damn, I want this so much but I've stopped my spending on Macross toys since my wife is pregnant. I wonder if HLJ could set up a baby registry for me so I could put this on it?
  4. This thread is starting to make my head hurt...I'd still like an english transaction of Yui's statement about commodification and how it relates to Maia's Shadow Fighter (which I finally decided to open) which came out 2 years ago.
  5. Was at the comic store today and the owner returned a Macross II drawing to me that I had done 20 years ago. While we were reminiscing about the past, an employee saw it and said "I love Robotech!" Just reminded me how messed up BOTH franchises are in the US thanks to HG.
  6. To be fair though, you've gotta give that same finger to Kaiyodo, Bandai, and Yamato since they all made non-transforming Macross toys.
  7. I just watched a part of this today as I was planning on ripping the DVD to my iPad but it just lacks the flare of Kawamori Macross projects even with Mikimoto's character designs. I remember back in the day I enjoyed it overall but the english dub makes me cringe more now than ever.
  8. Isn't this the direction it's already going? As long as the current HG Triumvirate are in power, the franchise will never move forward especially with sidequels using decades old designs (though we all still love them) which merely expand the original story. The fact that new product is few and far between due to being stuck on boats (Battlepods), pushed aside for other projects (RPGs), or waiting on help from the fandom (25th Anniversary CD) just proves that Robotech destined for obscurity until there's a regime change.
  9. Anyone know of any online sites where you can still get the Gundam Fix Re-ZEL?
  10. I second the vote for ADAM HUGHES! NO ONE draws women better than him.
  11. Well, whatever you think of Tommy and HG re-editing Sentinels and The Movie. My question is why they're wasting so much time on these projects rather than working on new projects which will continue the story?
  12. Thanks for the update ErickElvis, I was planning to buy a Gundam Fix toy from them. Let us know how it turns out.
  13. Too bad the HG crew got stuck in an elevator, looks like every project that matters (sidequel, SR, LAM) will probably get delayed even further. Kind of surprised that they're still tweaking edits on old video which I'm sure many deluded fans will say is similar to what Lucas did with Star Wars. The only problem is that the Robotech edits only get us reused footage in a different context rather than brand new footage. Another fail brought to you by HG.
  14. wow, that was pretty weak. still, what else would you expect from a franchise that has wasted so much of its potential over the past couple decades.
  15. But Toynami just posted that they have BIG plans for Robotech next year: The plans are so big they reported it as a response to their Naruto announcement. I like how they say "patience is the best thing". They flat out stole that line from HG's playbook.
  16. What the hell is with the way any lion can be the body of Volton? The show was bad enough on its own and then they introduce this concept...
  17. Didn't Mospeada also have epic space battle scenes? The Mospeada mecha, in my opinion, looks a lot better too.
  18. AcroRay, I don't think it's unfair to call out Toynami as they've actually had a pretty poor track record in regards to most of their Robotech releases. Many of their items (before the Regults were even a glimmer in their lineup) experienced significant delays regarding release. These delays were often compounded by inferior quality control on a consistent basis as well which you would think the delays would help minimize. Moreover, these delays were seen during times when the product, according to those great honest guys at HG, was so popular that they couldn't keep them in stock. And we weren't even in the economic crisis we're in now back then. I also don't think it's very accurate to say that there aren't enough Macross fans buying product in North America or that they aren't interested in an inexpensive item. First, it's an enemy mecha and enemy mecha never sell as well as those of the "good guys". Heck, even Hasbro follows this practice by always producing more autobots than Decepticons in their toy lines. Perhaps Toynami could adjust their marketing by releasing a Valkyrie in between Regult releases or do so concurrently to minimize buyer fatigue. Afterall, variability in a line can do wonders with sales. Also, Macross fans tend to go pretty crazy when it comes to purchasing (just look at the collection people post on this forum) so the interest and money is there to be had if Toynami gets their act together. Afterall, they have the license to produce Robotech toys so they should produce Robotech toys, not just Battlepods.
  19. At least they got an explanation. I had to try and log in so that I could find out I was banned. Guess they're just gonna continue to shrink the fanbase so that when the LAM even arrives, there will be no "old" fans to upset by the changes in the reboot.
  20. why do they keep doing this, especially now that i have a kid on the way?
  21. Good point. With all the positive buzz on the Pods and Valkyries you would think Toynami would get these toys made. Shouldn't a company make a product available for sale when demand is highest? These toys are great even in this economy as they're a much more affordable option for people put off by import toy costs. But they've decided to follow HG's method of "show them something they'll never see" followed up with excuses that they're stuck on a boat which itself is stuck on a dock. You would think they would also plan on expanding the line to include toys from the upcoming sidequel but there's no sign of this either. Of course, it could still be in the pipeline pending the sidequel's release whenever that is but Toynami probably isn't expecting it to be a big enough production to justify toys.
  22. With the economy taking another downturn this past week, I'll be really surprised to the see next battlepod "leave the dock" and find it's way to retailers. I'm even more doubtful that the 1/100 Valkyries will be produced this year to say nothing of actually being released by Christmas...
  23. I agree the actualy production isn't that impressive but what is impressive is that a fan was able to release something online that could help build interest (though maybe not a lot of interest) in Robotech while HG hasn't done anything on this kind of scale. Yeah, they're showing a preview clip at cons which maybe a couple hundred people have seen but I'm sure this fan release has already surpassed this amount.
