  1. And then I'm sure McKeever denied the whole incident happened or said it was taken out of context kind of like the whole "Shadow Rising is on hiatus" thing.
  2. That's the question everyone wants to know and I blame McKeever and his marketing wisdom for this. Makes no sense to only allow a few hundred US con fans a year see something you're trying to promote when you can throw it on the website and allow people around the world. Basically, McKeever wants to be in the spotlight since he has no role in creating the actual production.
  3. Since this new feature appears to be Robotech: Flashback 2038, do you guys think HG will try marketing it in Japan as a type of prequel to Mospeada? All they'd have to do is change some names and the title sequence.
  4. just opened up my Garland as I'm trying to make space for my new wife and the right shoulder just popped off from the slightest touch! Then the arm popped off cracking the hole it fits in! Anyone know where I can get replacement shoulder parts since I read this is really common?
  5. You mean the documentary? Not too excited about that and he only said that the new animated sidequel will be completed in 2011
  6. i like how the panel description says it "discusses new developments in the wake of the announcement of the live-action Robotech feature film." Like this announcement just happened recently.
  7. NEW Robotech update regarding the new unnamed "movie": UPDATE FROM SPANISH PODCAST 1.GOING FINE. 2.DOING DIGITAL WORK 3.PRELIMINARY EDITORIAL 4.LOOKING AT PROCESSES IN PUTTING IT TOGETHER AND TECHNOLOGY THAT HAS CHANGED SINCE WORKING ON SHADOW CHRONICLES. 5.GUARANTEED TO BE OUT ON DVD, NETFLIX AND HULU. 6.HG WILL LOOK INTO THEATRICAL RELEASE (POSSIBLY LIKE THEY DID WITH SHADOW CHRONICLES). Does any of this actually mean anything?
  8. Terry, I don't think it's necessarily a negative push on anything from HG related to Robotech though it does happen. Still, I think Jasonc is making an accurate assumption about the new Robotech project. Afterall, Tommy Yune and his crew have gone on record saying that Shadow Rising was their main project before the Live Action Movie and with the LAM in development, SR is on hold to help coordinate these "huge" releases. He's also gone on record saying that Robotech fans only care about the continuing story of Rick Hunter, making other story productions less successful. Thus, with this new project in production, it's reasonable to assume that it's got a much smaller budget than SR and, even Shadow Chronicles, as HG wouldn't be able to justify spending too much money for a production not featuring Rick Hunter, especially if it's not tied to the LAM release. Moreover, for this new production to be called a "movie" it's likely gonna feature recycled footage to minimize costs or be very short (but then they it wouldn't be a true "movie"). True, this is all speculation and we don't know anything other than that Sera appears to be a featured character. As a character who was shown in less than half of The New Generation, she's not gonna be a big draw even if Lancer shows up though you know I'll buy every version that comes out which is all HG cares about.
  9. Just checked this morning and I haven't been banned yet. It's actually refreshing to see more fans on Robotech.com questioning the actions of Harmony Gold though I know it doesn't matter. Even Memo has, surprisingly, agreed with many of my comments lately. I'm just trying to keep it real over there. -ahchu (not alchu)
  10. This new "series" can't really be that big a deal or even guaranteed to arrive when it's supposed to next year since the "official" website doesn't even mention it on the front page or in the forums.
  11. I think this is true too just because it makes no sense to not release Shadow Rising until they can "coordinate" the LAM release. Of course, the delay could also be to the fact that Tommy couldn't come up with a compelling story for Shadow Rising which is why they brought back Carl Macek. Still, selling the franchise seems like the financially smarter thing for Agrama to do. Afterall, why make pocket change off the franchise on a yearly basis if you can make one huge lump sum instead and be done with it?
  12. I know Harmony Gold and McKeever work in a LA office? But I doubt it's posh...
  13. Yeah I know the Official Robotech crew "monitor" what goes on here and that's fine with me as I'm not making personal insults about them here.
  14. Wow, Memo finally responded in to my polite request to show proof that Robotech is alive and well. Too bad he didn't translate some of it like I asked. Of course, he totally didn't understand my statement that, though I know people talk and mention Robotech all the time, that doesn't mean the franchise is thriving. Just means people are nostalgic. Kevin and Memo really got riled up by my statement that Robotech is in a coma even though I tried to be positive and say I know we'll see Shadow Rising someday, hopefully within a decade. So maybe Robotech is in hibernation, instead of a coma, and just farts out the occasional niche product to remind people it still exists. Still, I actually still get a kick out of the "debate" at Robotech.com because I know my claims do have some merit to them and my opinion is my opinion no matter what they say. Of course, if they show us something that'd be a different story. It was pretty interesting to find out Gort was PTH which, after thinking about his now deleted posts, seems to make sense since his account was activated during last week's debate. I still love Robotech and even Shadow Chronicles was acceptable since I was just happy they finally released something other than a crappy comic book with even worse art (which I still bought). Of course, with a complete lack of any new official story material, I've turned my attention to Macross and Gundam for the past 15 years or so. And, yes, I go by "ahchu" on RT.com.
  15. $35 shipped for this blu-ray is worth it. It looks fantastic and sounds spectacular. The only reason not to buy it is if your tv or audio system sucks.
  16. Gubaba, why didn't I wait for your answer before posting my rebuttal?
  17. Stupid me tried to have a logical discussion on Robotech.com with Kevin McKeever and then MEMO and his crew joined the party. Despite my claims that I love Robotech and know future endeavors will see the light of day, I point out the franchise is in a coma (alive but not making much noise which is the truth at the moment) and MEMO and crew start tag teaming that I don't know what I'm talking about. So typical...and I know I brought this on myself but I was pretty bored this evening.
  18. Definitely great sculpts for this new line. A few of the figures I've opened have ridiculously tight joints. The only real problem I've had is finding figures with descent paints jobs. Most figures I've seen from multiple stores have smudging or just plain careless paint applications. Thus, I'm still looking for a clean version of the Mark III, IV, and VI.
  19. nothing on the jollibee usa website. might have to ask my staff to have their relatives get them for me.
  20. Just got my VF-11B and filled up the empty spot in my Macross display.
  21. I picked up a FamilyMart VF-25 on eBay a few weeks ago for about $60 shipped. I love the box art design compared to the original VF-25 versions and I actually think the color scheme is cool. Unfortunately it's staying trapped in its box as I only bought it to be a completist.
  22. Not sure if anyone can really translate Memo's writing chrisk but I'm sure some "true" fan will interpret it as a positive for the "franchise." I'm curious if anything interesting came out at the Sunday Robotech Free-For-All question panel but I know it's not the full hour promised as Macek wanted to present something that they couldn't Saturday due to technical difficulties. Now that you guys bring up Macek, I have to point out my impression of the guy. He actually came across as a bit cocky trying to justify his past and future products as being faithful to the originals. During the "Codename: Robotech" screening he pointed out that he only cut out about 8 minutes of total footage from the 3 originals series when making Robotech and didn't understand why some fans accused him of butchering the series. He said his cuts were only made so they would conform with tv standards though "Dana's Story" was different. He went on to talk about Robotech: The Untold Story talking about how he wrote an ending for it with new animation he storyboarded - a scene which I still think is so random when you watch it. He really emphasized how he was doing stuff no one else had ever thought about doing when working on Robotech (such as death, interracial relationships, episodes being serialized in order, etc.) as HG was trying to sell a story and not toys. Interesting no one mentioned Star Blazers, especially since many there were older than my 33 years. I think the only thing I enjoyed about my who day there was the presence of Tony Oliver, listening to his voice just made me think of the good days of Robotech.
  23. There is Day 2 at AOD on Sunday but I can't justify going back the place for a 1 hour panel. I am tempted to go since Memo was desperately trying to ask a question at the end of today's panel but got denied til tomorrow. Still, I don't think it'll be worth driving an hour to sit for an hour to find out nothing. The dealer room only has 12 dealers too with almost no Macross stuff so I can't even try to get last second deals. Another tidbit I just remembered, Tommy pointed out that the Shadow Chronicles sold "hundreds of thousands of copies" which justifies it's success I suppose. Still, I have a feeling that generalized figure is the sum total of the original release, the special edition, and the Blu-Ray.
  24. No problem seto, I actually sat a couple seats over from MEMO too. I was actually surprised by how many Robotech fans did not know about the origins of Robotech. Some of these "fans" were acting like they were experts too which just shocked me. I won't even get into the discussion we had about Robotech toys with Carl Macek during the video screening. "You mean, the toy figures weren't from Japan?"
  25. Just got back from Day 1 of the AOD Convention here in San Francisco. It was the first stop for the Robotech Convention Tour and as usual there wasn't much news to report. I'm really surprised how Tommy Yune can keep trying to present Shadow Chronicles and Beta Fighters as new each year. Otherwise, just more role playing games and reprints of old comics. Seems like Shadow Rising won't be seen this year as they barely mentioned it though Tommy said they started production immediately after Shadow Chronicles. One interesting thing he emphasized was that HG can use ANY Macross designs in future productions. His only example was the use of the VF-1 Strike canon on the toys. When the girl who asked the question had him clarify, Tommy said even the character designs could be used in future animation though they changed them in Sentinels and Shadow Chronicles so that they would have a chance of selling Robotech in Japan. Wonder if anyone in Japan has even watched the original Robotech?
