RedLion, your work is awesome. I have Adobe Illustrator on my wife's Mac, and she can upscale, which is what I will do. I think it's about time I took those giant pieces of styrene out of storage, and put them to work. Question, what is the file made of? Is it EPS or AI? Is it Vector? if so, I have enough styrene to make this quite large, maybe a foot long. Anyways, please please send this to me. I've made paper projects before, (the paper Monster) and would love to do this and show off your awesome work. Please let me know if you can send me the file. Thanks

Either way, it also doesn't help that her eyebrows are that purpleish color. Grace number 3 looks good too. Something about the Asian cosplayers that just seem to look more right than what's done over here. Don't know if it's just cause most female cosplayers here have bigger frames. I'll be posting many pics come July when AX comes to L.A. Hopefully some good Macross stuff, but we'll see. Hikuro, why don't you post up what you got so far for your Frontier costume.

Hopefully you got some more good auditions in. I'd like to see more of these pan out. SchizophrenicMC, are you gonna try for narrator? Is there even a narrator in the 2nd episode? I haven't seen it in awhile. What other characters are you looking for?

Yeah, IMO, those pics of the VF-1Ds show the 1/60 looks better in battroid mode. Then again, it may be just cause of the 2 seater option. I am not too big on the extended neck of the new 1/60s. That's a cool custom. The paint looks good.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5

Finally got my Michel today, and it's nice. I don't have any complaints regarding the armor holding secure. My one complaint is that stupid lock for the torso is very weak. a problem I didn't have with the Ozma or Alto. Other than that, it's pretty bad ass. I'm liking the sniper rifle. That thing just looks menacing when extended. -
The few 1/48s I had are great and were a perfect evolutionary jump from what was previous. The 1/60 v.2 is an evolutionary jump from the 1/48. To me, the fact that the 1/60 is just as detailed as the 1/48, and not as bulky is what makes it better. Not only that, but the aesthetic fixes are nice. The icing on the cake is that it is in scale with all the other Valks that are out. The 1/48s seemed too isolated, and I'm glad I never got sucked into the hype of them. As what has been said here, I don't hate the 1/48s, they had their place, just like the 1/55s. There will always be love for the 1/55s, 1/48s, but I'm sold on the new 1/60s.

Grace Invasion has finally come to Macrossworld.com!!! All those cosplayers are amazing. Definitely looks like Grace in just about all of them.

I have to agree. Although the cosplay costumes are quite nice, the girls in them are not helping the costume at all.

Official MacrossWorld Con 2009 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Since it's at Ackerman Union, there's plenty of eats there, as well as various styles of eats. I like how this year will seem structured like the last several cons we've had before. This makes it feel like a con, and something big. -
A lot of Harmony Gold's money comes from the entertainment industry, but also from real estate. Back around 2006, in a chat w/ their creative director, he mentioned that HG has a lot of property and they have a seperate real estate company or corp. I don't know about the details, as I didn't really care too much about it. But most companies in HG's position do delve into other areas to make profits. Robotech is not their bread and butter by any means. If anything, it's more of a pet project. Probably why the fans are treated like abused step children who keep coming back for more.

Mecurial, I think it's cool that you made it from complete scratch. Definitely a skill I don't have. Fabrics aren't my forte, but perhaps doing the plastic stuff, and or harder shaped stuff I am decent at. Since I'm not much on critiquing cosplay outfits, I can't comment much on your outfits, but say that they look good. From what I gathered, you're still working on it? As for the Klan outfit, that is pretty damn cool. It's a bold outfit, definitely.

Having a redesign could be the best thing for it. While I don't have any respect for the powers that be at HG, I don't care if the franchise does well, or falls flat. Either way, I'd like to have Robotech's true beginnings, Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada left alone. It's finally time to let those series survive on their own, and see if RT has what it takes to stand on its own. As for the progress of the LAM, something's holding it up, and there is so much speculation, I don't think anyone really knows for sure. The one script I have for the LAM doesn't look too bad. It's definitely Macross Saga, and has quite a few differences that make it fit for a movie. I don't doubt that WB is trying to work on it. I suppose only 20 years will tell when it finally comes out.

I like how they say that, but every finger points in a different direction. Tommy did have a 2-2 1/2 year plan for releasing Shadow Rising. I remember seeing it at some local fan gathering where Tommy himself showed a number of us the schedule. What's funny now is that he denies ever saying or implying that Shadow Rising was supposed to come out 2 years after RTSC. At one point, Funimation was interested in working w/ Harmony Gold in the second installment, even putting in a significant amount of dough into it. From what I read, Funimation had some things they wanted to do, like co-write maybe, and have the production done in Japan, instead of Korea. Harmony Gold didn't want to give up any of it's (for lack of a better description of their crap) "creative" control, and they turned them down. From there, I don't know what happened with them and Funimation. I've heard that the deal with Funimation having merchandising rights or a license since then has dried up (ala, no clothing or other merchandise other than a keychain). Also, I don't know if Funimation will still be doing the distribution. Also, I don't buy the fact that they are still working on Shadow Rising. They, more than likely, were told by the bigger company (WB) that they don't want anything regarding Shadow Rising to be leaked, worked on, and/or even talked about until their film is done, or official, or maybe even out. I think Kevin's first comments when he mentioned hiatus isn't a lie, but in fact, a truth that wasn't supposed to be told. Thus, the reason why they used their propaganda podcast for the recant. As for the LAM, Lawrence Kasdan has abandoned the project it seems. The argument that they use many writers is B.S. Why would you hire the top notch writer first, then hand his work to smaller, less established writers to "continue and fine tune?" That's why I think he bailed, and abandoned the project, not a good sign for the future of the LAM.

It's held together by 1)The inner zipper, 2)velcro lined along the red trim, and 3) the belt. Moreso by the first two. What all 3 end up doing is creating a jacket that is very rigid and military like. As for the undershirt, the collar is held by velcro lining the two red center stripes, and a button as shown in the pics. It allows the shirt to stay in place where it needs to be. As for the Misa jacket, that is just held by velcro in the front. Aside from maybe some drycleaning, they are awesome pieces of work. I think I may work on a cosplay outfit soon, just haven't decided on what. Perhaps the Hikaru DYRL space suit, or better yet, Max Jenius version.

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Jasonc replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
Thanks for providing an isbn number. I'm gonna take that down to Kinokuniya next week and see if I can order one. I wish there was a cover for it, so I can know what to look for. -
The route I took, was going through www.over-drive-co.com. If you haven't joined up with them, do so, and inquire with them about ordering it. Total is probably going to be over $500, but then again, I don't think there's gonna be a lot of these floating around. You won't find the helmet on the website, but send them a message and inquire about it. They are great at getting back to people.

Are you creating an Isamu outfit, or something from Macross F? Oh, here's some pics of the uniforms I have and some of the inner workings of them. Sorry if this takes up a lot of space, my file attachments don't work on this computer

Hikuro, I don't know what you had planned for me, if anything, but if you needed extras, I didn't get anything as far as what you needed. PM me and let me know what's going on. Also, let me know what additional voices you need. I've been talking to a couple people who may be able to fill in some spots quite well. Let me know.

Have you got anymore people for episode 2?
-
Interesting construction. Was the jacket made from scratch, or was it made from something else like a chef's coat? I'll try to take some pics tomorrow of the internal construction of my costume, so you can see what I was describing earlier

My Alto w/ super parts has been transforming perfectly with all armor parts attached in fighter mode. It is annoying having the intake armor pop off so frequently, but other than those, the armor is tight on mine, and transformation is a breeze. It looks great, much better with it than without. -
Hikaru and Minmay look scared Sh*tle$$!!! That expression is just priceless. I feel an episode of Robot Chicken coming on somewhere. LOL, Great job on the weathering.

If that tidbit of info came from a movie director with some clout in the industry, it appears he knows what could be a hit vs. miss for HG. What I always found funny was that bit that HG didn't seem to think the meeting went too well, and seemed to dismiss the suggestions of a successful director. I feel bad for all the RT fanboys under the impression that the Live action movie will be a Shadow Chronicles adaptation. I think WB has better research and brains to know that that won't appen. I'd be surprised if it did. Why would they pick the absolute worst thing to come out of the RT franchise, and make it into a movie?

Going off voice work alone, he was very good in FMA, and good in Full metal Panic, but most of the other stuff does sound the same. He's kinda used a bit too much. Hikuro, I'll help round up a posse.

That was one thing that really got me. I had planned to by those ADV Macross DVDs cause they were better quality than the Animeigo DVDs, but when I heard the english dubbed version, I was appauled. Roy sounds like a gay trucker, Hikaru sounds like a blonde haired white boy (like Vic), and Mari butchered english, even though she's been here for how long? Misa was fine, but everytime they Muh-Cross, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I'd like to see the other Max or Roy cosplay uniforms, send those in, someone.
