In for one Nexx and a Super Ostrich. Hoping the Ostrich comes with Minmay as well so we can choose which pair we want in it.

Does anyone have any good VF-2SS reference materials that show marking details? There's the ET manual, but it's pretty sparse.

Attached the SAP. Very simple and straightforward. Makes it look 10x better than without. Though to me it still looks a little plain, like an unpainted model kit. I know that's the correct color and all, but in this green plastic it really makes it look cheap. I felt the same way about the ET version. Going to need some work to bring out the details. I feel like the designer of the VF-2SS wanted to make a space tank, and then created the fighter underneath as an afterthought. Really just minor nitpicking though. Definitely keeping mine with SAP on for fighter mode. VF-2SS fighter with no SAP is a sad looking panda. Also, Sylvie is really stacked! EDIT: Hey, isn't there supposed to be a long antenna sticking out from the SAP??

In order to convert to a 1S, you wouldn't just need to swap the head and strike cannon. Bandai would also have to include stickers for the modex numbers. If there's one thing that Bandai is known for, it's not printing markings and giving you stickers!

Dammit Bandai, that's just sloppy! Time to break out the Q-tips and turpenoid...

Okay, so I transformed it to gerwalk and then to fighter. All done without the SAP. The transformation is more complicated than the VF-1, but not too much more so. It's definitely no SV-262 level of transformation. The VF-2SS gerwalk is pretty ugly IMO. It's just the design and not really the fault of the toy. Though the legs (specifically the intakes) just kinda hang underneath and don't really lock into place, unless I missed a step. Transforming to fighter is pretty quick and easy from gerwalk. As noted by others as well, I wish there were more (or better) tabs to lock everything into place nice and lined up straight. As it is, it's a bit of a challenge to get everything all nice and straight. Now that I have a good VF-2SS toy in hand, I have to say she's a really inelegant and not well thought out design that's pretty much all anime magic, and the engineers at Bandai did what they could to reproduce it faithfully within the limits of our physical world. She can't hold a candle to any of Kawamori's valks. With no SAP, she really only looks good from the top. She's quite a turkey from the side. Not much better from the front. Good luck getting everything nice and lined up! While a vast improvement over the ET version and probably the best we could expect from a real, physical model/toy of the VF-2SS, that underside is still pretty hideous compared to any Kawamori valk. It's a good toy and easily the best version of the VF-2SS out there. Is it comparable to the quality of the DX VF-31? Absolutely not. Not even close. Partly because it's from a cheaper toy line, and partly because the VF-2SS design is just really wonky. Will play with the SAP some and then she's got a date with a mechanical pencil!

Alright Bandai, time to milk the mold and give us the rest of the squadron. Also eagerly awaiting a (good) 1/60 version with Hibiki figure to place in the rear storage compartment.

Yup! Time to prepare the decal sheet too. Not with the stand. The adapter clips to the underside of the nose and prevents the front and back halves from tabbing together properly. I'll fiddle with it more when I return home. I might try the mod if the heat shield gaps becomes too annoying for me.

Fiddling with it a bit in battroid. A few parts like the feet are kinda loose and fall off easily, but unlike the VF-1, the VF-2SS actually feels much more like a premium toy, and there's a lot of diecast internal parts. It costs as much as the renewal VF-25 did, so it better damn well be better than the disappointing VF-1. My lame attempt at recreating the Macross II opening pose.

Whoa whoa whoa I didn't know DHL actually delivered on Sundays! Woohoo!
  14. Had it for a few days now, but I'm really enjoying the Switch. It's my first Nintendo console purchase since the Super NES.

    Bandai DX VF-31

It's all good. I will go out on a limb and make the assumption that we all want to see Bandai release the best/most complete toys possible. $200 for the 31 itself, plus another $100 for the super parts, but no reaction missiles or speaker pods? That's a lot of money and I can understand when someone is a little irked by the omissions.

I hope Bandai or Arcadia considers a 1/60 version if the HMR sells well. I'd love to have one in scale with all my other valks. Since Macross II isn't canon, I'll just pretend it was a limited production fighter that was too expensive and phased out with the rollout of the VF-4.

Wish NY posted that a few hours earlier, before HLJ sent payment request.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Unfortunately, you are not the arbiter of what "everyone" or even "most" want. What people want is going to be different for each individual. I was simply referring to Bandai's own habit of only including things that were seen on screen, and their own inconsistency regarding that.

I guess we'll find out in a few days when people start getting them in hand. Mine were shipped DHL from AmiAmi. That heat shield gap is quite an eye sore and I hope it's just the result of having a torso joint or something.

No problem. I have to decide if I really want that extra VF-2SS before then or just cancel it and hope I can snag one later if I change my mind.

    Bandai DX VF-31

That's a weak argument. I could just as easily say that not everyone wants the Lil Drakens, so why would I want Bandai to force me to buy those together with the 262? The speaker pod would have been an extra part in an optional set. You think it would have doubled the price of the super parts set?

It went to Low Stock and then Discontinued a few hours ago, so I expect payment requests in a few hours. Mine almost always arrive at about 5 AM Japan time from HLJ.

After paying my Amiami order, I fired up the Macross II soundtrack... man that music is pretty dated, but the theme song is still great and remains the only good thing to come out of Macross II, pending the arrival of my VF-2SS order.

    Bandai DX VF-31

The first 31J and 31F are never seen with reaction missiles in the anime, and if it wasn't seen on screen, you better believe Bandai isn't going to bother including it. So yeah, if you want your regular 31J to have reaction missiles, it's either Mirage super parts or find a 31J Kai. You can always hope that the 31A super parts set will come with extra reaction missiles. I wouldn't place any wagers on it though. Though they didn't include the speaker pods which are seen in the anime, so, I guess F U Bandai?
