Yes this is an "obvious cash grab." Making money is the point. Do you guys think Bandai is releasing Macross toys just because they love the community so, so much? Or that Arcadia should just sell their products at a loss, just to show how much they love us? The real question is will enough people pay the premium price for this to be a profitable venture for Arcadia? Ehh, probably, since it's not a regular retail release.

That is incorrect. The price of the premium VF-1 is only about 25-26k if you purchase directly from Arcadia. The extra cost is from retailers or proxy services since it's a webshop exclusive, much like buying the 31J Kai. The "$100" extra people keep bandying about is if you buy it from HLJ, who charges 31k for the premiums. And as you can see from my earlier posts, I've yet to pay "$100" extra for any premiums. I recently purchased a premium Roy for a MW member a couple of months ago for 25k from the Amiami store. It was an open offer for any fellow MW member but he was the only one who took it.

I use a combination of Flory's model wash and mechanical pencil for panel lines. HMR toys have similar panel lines to their DX cousins, but because of the smaller scale panel lines look a lot thicker. Gundam marker is much too thick for panel line work, IMO.

Seeing as there's no indication of a reissue of the regular edition, it seems this is just meant for the diehard collectors with deep pockets who want a PF VF-0S to go with the other PF releases.

It'll be expensive, but I know full well I'm going to end up buying this. I'll get this version, sell off my spare regular, and "demote" my custom to reactive armor duty.

Discount coupons. I know how you feel noel. I already bought the 0S release from way back, and fixed it up myself, so PF is little more than a reissue to me. I wish they were doing PF releases back then so I could have just skipped the regular version and gone straight to the PF. I'll probably still pick up a PF 0S because I'm a consumer whore and it'll let me address the shortcomings of my custom 0S from way back without starting from scratch.

If they do release a PF SV-51 I do hope they announce it simultaneously so I can skip the regular release. Though I'm out of discount coupons so I'll have to actually pay full price for it.

I like to keep spares, just in case. Especially when you're a super amateur "modeler" like me and there's a high risk of completely botching up an expensive toy when trying to detail them up. I just recently discovered I had not two but three Hikaru 1As.

If the kite is all you're really interested in, you can always just grab a set of third party decals off ebay. I used them for my TV Super 1S.

It's a pretty nice looking and poseable action figure of the Batman Begins suit. Production quality is a bit below Bandai's though. Mine has an obvious rub mark that messes up the nice matt finish of the suit. There's also some weird molding defect on the cowl near his eye... I think I can fix it with some careful xacto knife surgery. The cape is longer than the Figuarts Dark Knight version, and has wires in it to help hold its shape. And that's my biggest gripe: instead of carefully folding the cape up in the package, it's just haphazardly stuffed in behind the figure, so the wires are all bent when you take it out for the first time. WTF Mafex? Also unlike the Bandai version, there's no place to attach the grapnel gun to his belt. He can't turn his head either, but that's movie-accurate. The facial expression is better than Bandai's, which has this weird grin. The Christian Bale head looks good too. The chest plate can be swapped out if you want to display him in the nomex survival suit with no bat symbol. If you were on the fence, I'd say he's worth picking up, if you like the Batman Begins suit. I was waiting for this release to decide if I wanted to keep my other Mafex POs. Got Bane, the Joker, Harvey Dent, and Scarecrow.

That's a pretty good price. If the Arcadia was available for only $158... oh man. Latest arrivals from December. Pretty light month. Will need the breather for all the January and February orders coming up. Never bought any Mafex stuff before. Hoping they'll at least be close to Figuarts quality, because I really wanted a Batman Begins version. The Kai is going to a friend. Other than that, just some books, decals, and some "laser sword" replacements.
