  1. I was just trying to provide perspective. Not make excuses for them. I agree it should be better.
  2. Engineers have a bad habit of telling people the most ideal way of designing something with no consideration for cost and production/assembly processes (which at the end of the day ends up being cost too). Almost everything can be engineered better, so it's real easy to point fingers and say "That's not right, I would have done it like this". If they were presented with the same question with the addition of "It has to be done for $XX.XX" most of the time you will get an answer like "I don't know" or "That's impossible". I'm an engineer. But, my company actually has to produce things that hit a target price point. I'm the lead designer and the bean counter. That means a lot of things I would like to do get left on the table. If I could go at some of my products "no holds barred" their price would at a minimum quadruple. That doesn't mean I can't put out a quality product. It's arguable that my stuff is the best in it's market. It just means that if I could unload both barrels the product would be out of this world trick. I'm not suggesting that "hinge" shouldn't be better. "Not breaking" is the lowest bar in engineering. At a minimum that should be met. If it can't, either don't produce it, or raise the price to cover the cost of getting it right. What's my point (I'm rambling)? I guess it's that a lot of engineers tend to think in a vacuum. They also like to show off a bit too (I'm as guilty of this as any engineer). When listening to an engineer it's best to take the 30,000ft perspective.
  3. Yeah, that's a HUGE area! If I got really ambitious I could probably stack three on a stand and still fit it in a cabinet. But five or six? Nope!
  4. That's a hodge podge of stuff. It's the wrong adapter. It's the standard DX adapter (you want the 262 adapter) and it's a standing adapter opposed to a banking adapter. That's why I have the 90 in there. Despite all of that wrong stuff going on I wouldn't call it tippy. Would I do something different if I lived in CA? Yeah, I would mount it so it was more centered on the stand. I could do that with this by just rotating a few things. It would just be "flying" higher. Or mount it directly to the base. Between the Yeti adapter and the Bandai adapter it would still be a reasonable distance off the deck. No fault of @ChaoticYeti, I'm waiting on the right adapters so I can do a cleaner mount of this guy. I've got the wrong adapters on these too.
  5. Four! That was ambitious! This thing is a brick.
  6. I think that's when I saw that interview. Maybe? IDK, that was about 300 years ago.
  7. So much Merica! What is that. I have to have one!
  8. Probably, LOL Reminds me of one of the best answers I have ever heard from someone when they asked if they sold out. The singer for Tool (Maynard?) was being interviewed and was asked what he has to say to the people that say Tool has sold out. "Hell yes we sold out. We've been trying to sell out for years!"
  9. A thanks to you sir!
  10. I'm the one who got the Valk. I have the FP's on my alert list now. I really wasn't planning on adding any more "categories" of Valks to what I have now. But I've always liked the Stealth. And there ya go. I'll find room for it somewhere.
  11. I scored a sealed 1J off Mandrake for a super good deal. Looks like I may be paying through the teeth for the FP's. I can't even find any available. Let alone at eBay pricing. Thanks!
  12. I just picked up a 1/48 Yamato VF-1J Stealth. I don't have a line on Fast Packs for that though. I checked what I think is everywhere. Do the Fast Packs only come with the VF-1J as a "box set"? Or were they sold separately? Am I not finding them because I'm searching for something that doesn't exist? Thanks!
  13. Is this a custom? I dig those white Super Packs.
  14. I'd rather climb Everest.
  15. Riding a polar bear
  16. You've probably witnessed something unusually efficient then.
  17. You would think. But usually it's the opposite. When you add more people/department/layers/etc things get really inefficient and expensive. "Lumbering" is the word that comes to mind when I hear the horror stories that come out of big design firms. 10,000 meeting to decide on what length bolt is going to be used.
  18. I design other things for a living so I "get" the process. I would love a sneak peak at how it works in the toy world. I'm getting bored doing what I do. I'd like to take on the challenge of designing a toy.
  19. Riddle me this Batman. If I understand it correctly Supers are for non atmospheric flight. The internal jets are for atmospheric flight. Hence why you see the compressor covers on most of the time when Supers are in play. But I see that you have the fans uncovered with supers on. Is this just a "it is what it is" because that is how it was set up when I took the pic thing? Or is that the type of configuration used if entering the atmosphere?
  20. I've got three Yamato 1/48 Roy's. Now that I have seen the DX next to the Yamato I don't think I'm going to get any DX Roy's. Did any of you believe that?
  21. Popped this guy out of the package last night. This little sucker is cool! Revoltech-Yamaguchi
  22. I wonder how much of Bandai's price is the Gundam licence. Am I correct that Bandai hires manufacturing firms in China to do production for them? If so, it makes a lot of sense that if these firms skip Bandai and the licencing they can put a product out at a much lower cost. I'd be very down for some 3P MS scale units.
  23. In my main cabs I can stand a Yamato up in Battroid with the cannons sticking straight up. Not with the DX. The cannons are certainly a big factor!
  24. Sorry, I was just commenting on the shape and proportions. I think the Yamato had it licked in Fighter. Not by a ton though.
