  1. The problem with that being is that AvP has been a franchise in comics/video games/etc. for YEARS now, going back as far as a decade for the original comic crossover. Long before any of the other X vs X that you so rightly slag.
  2. I dunno about you, but if *I* were faced with an Alien (or more) in a darkened room, and it was coming towards me, I know that *I* would have my finger on that trigger for all it was worth One thing we need, though, are the motion trackers. That was one of Aliens' better introductions. Just hearing that beep was pretty darn creepy
  3. Unlike everyone else here, I think this is actually shaping up to be a good movie. The creatures look spot-on perfect, and I really like the fact they're using as little CGI as possible.
  4. Don't worry about the lack of hands, your model doesn't need it Same thing with the textures. If that's what you do when you're bored, I can't wait to see what you can come up with when you're trying And lastly, what have done with that Alpha and Cyclone models you were making?
  5. Argh. That picture of Dead End is making me want ALL of these Alternators. Curses, all of you! Just what I need: more toys.
  6. I find that for a decent analogy to describe why so many people dislike Mac7, one has to look at Star Wars. No, I'm not talking about slagging the new trilogy, since I actually rather enjoy them. What I'm actually talking about is what would happen if right after the release of Star Wars, and all the money and fame and following that that movie had garnered... what if George Lucas insisted that we then turn around and then accept Spaceballs as the continuation? That's where a lot of people get their problems with Macross 7. SDF and DYRL started the ball rolling (just like Star Wars in the above analogy) and then the series took a SHARP turn into deep left field, getting rid of most of the stuff that made the original show popular and instead populating it with cartoony concepts and really silly mecha designs (Spaceball 1 springs to mind, giant vaccuum and all). That's what Macross 7 is to me and why I dislike it so.
  7. I'd have to go with the GBP, myself. The range of those missles would easy outclass any range on the Strike cannon, plus the sheer number of missles would make most enemy pilots cringe. Pfft. Stampeed. AKA: Definitive proof of how munchkinly Gundam the Macross mecha are becoming.
  8. Bah, Richmond. I have never once been able to go to Richmond without getting hoplessly lost. I know people always say just stick to No. 3 road and you'll get wherever you need to go... but I always seem to find that singular way of screwing that up and getting totally lost.
  9. Oh, MAN! I'd forgotten just how much these pics/models ROCKED! These are the best CGI work I've ever seen for Robotech, even beating out the VF-1s produced on these boards. Still have pics of his Cyclones, Exo? Ah's neehds mahs fixes!
  10. To add a somewhat stupid question to this topic... is the VF-1 not always dependant on fuel in space? I seem to recall that a while back, there was a big kerfuffle over how the nuclear engines could work in space, and it was decided that the engines used internal reaction mass to fly in space. If that's so, how would that put the VF-0 at any disadvantage in space when comapred to the VF-1?
  11. Anyone know what happened that CGI Cyclone that was being shown around the boards a looooong time ago? I wanna see more of that model, since it was almost as good at Datterboy's
  12. Where's that jaw-drop smilie when I really need it? Seriously, Datter. This new model of yours is nothing short of fantastic. More, more, MORE!!!!
  13. I do so love those Cyclone kits. Here's hoping we'll get to see them over here soon
  14. According to Robotech.com, the first 3000 units of each Alpha toy sold through their website will have a limited-edition cell for that pilot, and all four of them will be able to be put side-by-side for a montage of the four pilots. Is this the same thing as for the VF-1 MPC?
  15. Can anyone post some pics of the old and new style VO mecha?
  16. For the same reason EVERY mecha in Macross must transform now: Look Cool Marketing Factor. The producers looked at all the hub-bub over the VF-1s and thought, "We need to do that again," and have since decreed that everything must transform in Macross. The Koing Monster and later capital-scale ships being the best examples of trying just that, trying to cash in and make more money. And thinking of that leads to an interesting question: Early on in Mac0 Nora is explaining that it's the Anti-UN that developed the transform technology and that the UN stole it, right? Well, WHY would the Anti-UN have developed that technology in the first place? The only reason for the soldier mode is to fight Zentradi, as stated by Focker in the 2nd episode of the series, and I sincerely doubt the Anti-UN found out about that, since it was stated in the first two episodes of SDF Macross that the knowledge of the aliens was secret from everyone not directly connected to the restoration project. If the Anti-UN had found out about the Zentradi, they would most assuradly have leaked that knowledge out and soon everyone would have known it. So my question again is this: WHY would the Anti-UN have developed that technology in the first place?
  17. I like the Horizont dropships from Mospeada. Sleek and built for a purpose, reather than just looking cool.
  18. Okay, you need to get your head checked out. I'm jealous of that 1/6th scale Solid Snake. Now I want one. You ARE going to show us a build-up of it, aren't you?
  19. It was a very, very good movie. The characters are all human and it shows in their flaws, be it jealousy, anger, revenge, or "punishment". The charactes are well-developed for the most part, everyone having a story and background, even the "normal" characters have lives that we learn and experience. A few things are out of proportion or unrealistic, but that's to be expected in a movie like this. The violence is not one of those things, though. This movie is darkly violent, as well it should be. The atmosphere of the movie fits for the character and it works. Though not gory for just the sake of being gory, it didn't pull the punches when it decided to hit full-force. The action is also a little over the top, but again, not unexpected for a movie like this. One thing the makers did get right is Castle's emotional problems, and the way he deals with them. It's a totally natural reaction to me and I had no trouble believing that character development. I give this movie 8/10, with marks taken off for those out-of-proportion bits as stated above.
  20. Or maybe he just runs off with Sarah, and live happily ever after, swearing off war. Nah, I prefer Graham's vision of things.
  21. VERY nice, Doktor. Great, great work. Same with you, Datter. I do so love your new model.
  22. I love the Asuak and Hikari figures. Very nicely painted. I like the colour chosen for Hikari, fits her character pretty well. Any chance of getting pics of those two in different poses?
  23. No, no, no. You all have it wrong. The best Boddiker line of ever is: "Ooooh, guns, guns, guns! C'mon Sal! Tigers are playing toh-night! I never miss a game." *click* "Heh heh heh. Just kidding."
