But who said that the Macross would have to be 1/60? I mean - that would obviously be ludicrous. Actually, the Wave Macross is fine for what it is - you know what I really want? I really want two things: 1) Diaoramas 2) human figures The Destroids in 1/60 scale just seem to pricey for something that isn't variable... Pete

Eh??? Grapple was in the movie?? It is POSSIBLE that Grapple was in the movie for like 1 second - during the waning hours of the nighttime battle for Autobot city, something that possibly appears to be Grapple runs out of the trenches firing his weapon... But....um...unless this was for sure Grapple, and the act of charging out of the trenches overshadowed all of the other performances... it's hard to say he rocked in the movie Pete

I voted for the Macross. But fat chance that happening. The scale issues would be mind bogling... Pete

What poll says what all? Pete

This is true. I am still holding out for Kaiyodo to do the figures; particularly since the Fraulein line is thankfully not "graaAAH!! action!" oriented but rather more demure and fine. Misa should make it into the line. Is there a licensing issue preventing this?... Pete

What are you dressing up as on Halloween?

Dag. I miss Haloween. They don't really celebrate it in Poland. I always wanted to go as Darth Vader... Peter -

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
VFTF1 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It is? The YF-21 is far more expensive than either the VF-1 or the VF-25; and I imagine that this is probably because the VF-1 and VF-25 are much smaller than the YF-21... Pete -

Another *glowing* review of Macross Frontier.

I appreciate the guy's enthusiasm, but I don't like the writting style. Oh well Pete -
Not true. If it were, then we might as well all ask the government to dig a big hole in the ground and throw all our money into it as the "price" for the hole. Then everyone would have a "job" digging the hole. Yay. In reality, people spend money because they want to get something that they value more than the amount of money they are paying for it. Some people will spend more, others less, and all people value different things, and the supply of those things is also in a constant state of flux. All of this is reflected in ever changing prices. Spending money just for the sake of spending it is something normal people don't do but sadly, government often does, and they even have a theory for it called "stimulating the economy" or "stimulating agregate demand." All it does is create a bubble that will burst because as there is more completely artificial spending, this spending is seen as a signal by the market that there really IS higher demand out there - when in fact, there isn't - there's just a central bank with a printing press that works from morning till night. The result is that prices tend to rise in response to artificially rising demand, and as that happens, investors tend to think "well this is a lucrative market" and pump money into those markets with high price margins in the hopes of reaping higher profits. Then it suddenly turns out that this is all an illusory bubble, and when it pops, people find that their houses are worthless, their paper money is worthless, and their investments have gone sour. And to answer the topic question: No. I've been recently buying more toys/figures etc than at any previous time in my life. Although this is probably because the economy in Poland is doing fairly ok; although there are signs of weakness (in my opinion) they have yet to bloom into economic meltdown. Pete

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
VFTF1 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Daaaaag. Reading all of these exacting and critical posts, I feel like I'm a blind chump who uncritically cheers whatever a company places before my eyes. I like the VF-25 that Bandai has given us; the only thing I'm curious about is: 1) Just how durable is it? Hopefully very. 2) How poseable is it (we've seen a few pics but nothing exploring the full range - I hope!) 3) Will Bandai include a stand? (pleeeaaaasssee) Pete -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
VFTF1 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, I hope that given the price of this thing, it will have the same durability of the Soul of Chogokin. I have plenty of those - er - well, no - I have three of those ... and all of them are in fact perfect in terms of QC. Yamato is improving. But in fairness, Yamato have been doing ONLY the most complicated variable mecha out there (imo). Pete -
I would love to get these at some point in my life. Garland as well... But I think I'd need to watch the anime and fall in love with it first. Pete

The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago when I first got mine. I have since sold it; but here are my easy step repairs. Never thought after all these years that having saved these pics would be useful to anybody....: I am sure other people do a much better job at this. My effort was born of desperation, as this was my FIRST ever Yamato toy and I was still under the illusion that hundreds of dollars spend on a toy warranted me being sweaty and "doing something" other than waiting for a better release Now I'm waiting for a better realse Pete

Not saying Yamato wouldn't do something wonderful, but... I must be blind 'cause I think the Bandai valk is sweeeet. Looks really good. Now bring on the blasted characters with full articulation Kayodo....we're looking at you ! Pete -
You ain't kidding My girlfriend is utterly jealous of Ranka. Strangely, she is not jealous of Misa, because she looks like Misa, so she thinks it's ok. I have Misa and Hikaru embracing in Hikaru's VF-1S from SDF Macross TV on my laptop as wallpaper and she thinks "it looks like us" - which it does... But as soon as I introduced Ranka to my cell phone's wallpaper she was like "what that?!" "That's Ranka - her songs are more moving than Nekki Bassara even..." "You don't love me!" And on and on it's gone since then. I recently asked her how she'd like me with blue hair... maybe I shouldn't push my luck Pete

I'm also 8 or 10 hours ahead or behind - in any case I've never had a problem with loading the site or navigating it or any of that. Pete

Has anyone noticed this utter beauty??? Who is she!? I must marry her! And here she is singing at the Mall! : The dress and boots are just perfect! In fact, I would love to get my girlfriend a pair of such boots for Christmas... Anyways, I'll go back and read the previous posts because I only Mercurial's Morph's post just above, but I agree with Merc Morph: Cosplay is fun! It's great fun! Heck - I can't understand people who have something against cosplay... it's like being against Halloween or something... Besides; we allow people we idolize/admire to influence how we dress, how we look, how we think - artists are always inspiring us in every facet of our life - Cosplay is a great opportunity for us to interpret our favorite characters in our own way and give them that special something just from us. It's just theater - street theater really... and there are lots of "normal" folks way creepier than cosplayers Anyways - hope this Ranka hasn't been posted, if she has, forgiveness - but I wanted to share and say how wonderful she looks! Macross 7: First time to view the series
VFTF1 replied to Lethalzero's topic in Movies and TV Series
Agree with this sentiment. Macross 7 is so wonderfully long that it SHOULD be watched in marathon time. Take 3 days off and just do nothing but drink beer and eat pizza while watching Macross 7 - that's the best way to go. Pete -
I voted "all"... However - I would like to note that only ONE THING will make this line work: Fully poseable pilot figures. Yamatos old 1/60 quids are nice and all, but not worth the price given they are not variable and have a stubby pilot who can't sing and dance... In fact; I think there has been practically zero effort put into enemy mecha by Yamato - but then again; this isn't surprising given that enemy mecha usually recieve sub-par effort in all Japanese franchises (to my mind)... Until then - we have the YF-21 (say what you want, but to me it's a Zendradi Variable Fighter:) ) Pete
-
If they do that, I'm afraid I'll have to buy at least four to display from each angle... Pete

I grew up on the East Coast, so thank God - NO ROBOTECH ON TV My first exposure to Macross was through the Paladium Robotech Role Playing games, which me and my friends used to play in elementary school. Next up came Robotech: Art III which I guess I purchased in some comic store or something. That is where I read about MACROSS as opposed to just Robotech - but I never actually saw any footage. Also - the Palladium book was TOTALLY void of Lyn Minmey and singing - at least that's how I remember it. The power of song, the Zendradi, the thing which is so foundational to Macross... just kind of didn't register. Rather; I figured Robotech was about piloting transforming mecha and lots of "important" statistics... I vaguely remember a friend owning Transformers Jetfire and how impressed I was with this toy - and how...un-Transformer like it seemed compared to what I now know to be the Diaclone line... Fast Forward to me in College. Living in Michigan, I saw Macross Plus at a video store and rented it. Watched it expecting Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes and being very VERY "huh" at seeing the SDF-1 just kind of sitting there and wondering why Guld dyed his hair green and what a Zendradi was... Also - I didn't really like Macross: Plus that much because I didn't understand it very well - it was not what I was expecting... truth be told, to this day I don't much like it (Zero/M7 is more my cup of tea). Then comes the internet. I procrastinated for a long time. Mainly got involved in online TF fandom. Then came youtube. Ok - I said to myself - now that I have this "YouTube" I might as well check out Macross. Oh - wait - rewind. MACROSS ZERO... I remember the year Macross Zero came out I saw some info about it - and the awesome fanstastic designs. But anyways...back to the future.... I started watching SDF M TV series... and fell utterly in love. I watched ONE episode of Robotech - and just couldn't believe it... I watched the episode in which the difference between Macross and Robotech was stark: Macross: Misa (having lost the camera): Leave me! My life is worthless now! Hikaru: What are you talking about?! Misa: Without the data on that camera, I have no value! Save yourself! Hikaru: I'm not going to turn my back on a girl! Robotech: Lisa Oh Prick I looove you! I really always have loved you! Prick; I love you too lovey love love. Lisa: But I love you more. Oh so much more! I neeeeed you! Prick: I need youo too!! Then I got tired of watching such fantastic stuff on a small box and started downloading. My first Yamato mecha was the 1/72 YF-21, 1/60 Elint and VF-11B (leg fell off). I liked them. Then came the 1/60 YF-19 and I was like OH MY FRICKIN GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (looks at ugly Transformer collection and proceeds to toss 75% out the window) Been hooked on high end stuff ever since. Needless to say - and I am sure EVERYONE can say the same thing - when I later got around to discovering and then watching Macross 7; despite initially being aghast, the Tostugeki Love Heart of Nekki Bassara cemented my love of this franchise. And then they bring out Macross Frontier - like a big "Thank you for FINALLY finding us" to me yay! Pete

Macross Frontier Episode 24 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Sadly, I am now back on Island Three, where my internet connection is slower due to all the Zentradi Cows blocking the signal. I managed to download 17-24 while visiting my Galactic Nymph on Island 1, where the signal is much stronger. So, I'm probably going to have to wait a couple more seconds than usual to watch episode 25:) Pete
