  1. she wore that ugly orange flight suit... problem is, who will Yamato add as a second pilot, Misa or Minmei...or just a figure with the ugly square helmet and people will let be whoever they want it to be
  2. that angle is very forgiving since it hides the chunky legs, but still, not sleek as the 1/72 but it will make a lot of people happy hope there are no QC problems with it waiting for Swoosh to post pics
  3. anyway, sorry about the slow update, holidays, ehhehe there isn't much to take pics of, mostly a lot of cutting, test fitting, sanding... bleh well, here's the head almost finished, need to paint and attach the other head lasers... a few painted pieces, the others are curing this parts were a royal pain, I cut them in the line and they didn't fit properly, and left a huge ass gap, I had to put a lot putty in it and sand, I was eventually going to do this to erase that big triangle that's not part of the 19s lineart but filling the gap and having to sand it smooth trying to carefully not erase the panel lines was so tedious well...I'm letting the painted pieces to cure for about a day and half since I really don't know how the vinyl reacts to the paint eventhought I primed it with acrylic base, but still, better safe than sorry and damn, had a little accident and the head fell to the floor and the freaking visor paint cracked and chipped, I think I'm gonna have to repaint the visor again... ugh
  4. hey, it does look sorta like a 19P, the head style is very similar except that most of the front area is a big visor, if I were to paint it all green it would look more like a P, hehehe, nice catch sorry VFTF1, I know you're a big Basara fan, I was very surprised when you changed your avatar at first I thought it was someone else, the Wave VF-19S is almost impossible to get, I myself have never seen it sold anywhere (unlucky me), so I had to do this to such a fine crafted kit that is just mean big F (if I got you right, hehe), I'm here doing all this and you just gloat at me about your blue blazer
  5. well...DYRL had some weird issues with canopy color, in the sequence of the image you posted of Max 1A it switches from red to blue, I think this was later fixed in the remasted release, and also Hikki 1S flips from red to black a few times.... could be a shadow I don't know, don't really care, just curious what will Max 1S shield will be colored hahaha maybe Yamato will release it in blue, and a few months later will make a "correct" limited coupon only release with a a black canopy shield for hardcore collector to pay 500USD on intermediary sales
  6. well, what do you know? I never noticed the canopy shield was black on Max's 1S, just check DYRL and it is black, I always thought it was blue due to the 1/48 custom and 1/72 hasegawas that I've seen, weird... Hikki's is clearly red, wonder what color Yamato will give and found a mistake in DYRL... when Hikaru is on his 1S Skull 001 against Bodolza on a shot his wing reads 011
  7. I find incredibly funny that Kawamori with all the valks, most of them are Yamato 1/60 except for the 1/72 vf-25, no love for the chunky 1/60 and watching all those valks toguether...awesome
  8. great pics..the black helps hide a lot of details, hehehe anyway, the canopy looks very bubbly and makes me wonder even more how the shield comes out...
  9. AWESOME!!!!!!!!! hehehe, pretty neat that the old GPB armor fits, great idea and the Q-Rau looks so freaking great, where you get the decals for it'?
  10. looks cool, I like, would make a nice table display to sprout a converstaion, hehehe why is Kawamori holding the valk with both arms ??
  11. hahaha...oh, nice...and I was thinking of customizing a Roy 1S into a Max after new years...but Yamato just saved me the hasle
  12. thanks progress pic...
  13. Hey, looking good there Nexx Stalker, what I like is the simplicity but yet very accurate detail of the kit...please post pictures of it when you're finished or of your progress here well, few pics of the modded head here's the lineart to compare both heads The kit provides you with two heads, one with the face and one with some kind of mouthpiece that I never saw on the anime, just on the opening intro, I decided to use the one with the mouth piece since it would be easier to mod Here it is sanded, ended up angled to the back, I thought my work was done but noticed it look weird and then realized I had to fix this The face has to be angled more straight as marked Well...after lots of sanding, putty, sanding sanding sanding, fix the face and also covered the sides and back according to the 19S, since this type is more like a helmet, oh yes, sanded too the 'lighting bolt rays' [ugg!! ]on the visor and here it is with the mounting for the laser antennas well, still have a few more quirks to fix and sand a few rough edges but I guess I'm doing alright...
  14. I thought the VF-1S Hikki won't be released until end of much!! I hate you!! kidding, QUICK!! please tell me if the shoulder hinge problem has been solved somehow...
  15. I usually have something to do, if it isn't work, gf or the family I have numerous ways to entertain myself and usually put modeling aside since it's something that eats a lot of my time when i get into it but what I have found recently that motivates me is to somehow improve the kit by adding something or modding it in a way that will require me to learn new techniques/abilities with end results that are very pleasant since I achieved something I hadn't done before and I always work one kit at a time until it's done
  16. the VF-4 had a more screen time than the max Q-Rau and similar time to the Kakizaki DYRL VF-1A but this two later got released and the Max VF-1S that had one of the most memorable dogfight scenes has not gotten released either, what gives, they just don't want to give us what we really want, hehehehehehehe!! ok ok, looking it with another perspective, I guess releasing a toy that only got animated 7 seconds in a 30 minute music video isn't a good idea...one would think
  17. yes, a little paint on a joint helps, just like the old nail polish trick on toy joints anyway, are you concerned about chipping when transforming? are you painting with thin layers of paints or you have any super special expert trick to avoid this?
  18. PetarB is sitting on a goldmine with this
  19. yeah, great tips, but I bet they take a lot of year of practice and patience kit gonna look awesome and the icing on the cake will be the little misa on it!
  20. woa, and you said you were going to take your time building this kits just stunning looking man and best of all, it's brushed!! I could never brush so neatly like that, very impressive, can't wait to see this finish
  21. ah yes, model comes articulated, but regular joints, no super revoltech ability on this, hehehehe
  22. woa! my threat is getting hijack, hahaha! kidding, actually good info here for me too since I'm a beginner on vinyl well, no pictures for now, lazy to download them from the digicam, maybe when more work is done, overall, I gotta say I'm very impressed with the kit quality, Wave sure makes nice kits, and the joints are pretty solid also, to bad this kits series have become a bit rare to cut and shape the vinyl I'm heating the pieces up with a blowdrier and then cut with a sharp xacto knife, but there sure is a lot of cutting with vinyl, what I have found most difficult is sanding, vinyl is hard to sand specially on those hard to reach areas well, just to clarify something, this wave kit is awesome, what I don't like about it is that it is a VF-19Kai Basara whatever, valk with faces are a big no-no to me, I've been reshaping the head to a VF-19S type with sanding and putty and overall is coming quite good, after that, the rest should be pretty straight forward, I will not reshape the wings since they're in position that's irrelevant to reshape, the gunpod I'll decide to reshape after most of the kit is done thanks about the weighting down the legs tip, I read about this but I didn't think it was necessary in this kit but now that you mention it, I'll do it hey HWR MKII, when you did this kit, don't know if you remember, the torso and the backpack...I cut them in the lines following the instructions but when I testfit them there's a small gap between them, by heating them up and squishing will they align properly??? will most likely post pictures of the finished modded head and assembly so far of the rest of the kit tomorrow night any other tips about vinyl are thankfully welcome
  23. It also seems odd that this info kinda snuck under the radar... especially with BBTS still having some Yamato Valks on preorder... guess those will just never be filled and they'll never bother to tell anyone who doesn't ask. passing the info here, this is interesting, Toynami can't restrict importing of Items from another company without a legal notice which I doubt they have, I think Toynami asked BBTS to stop importing Macross items since they appear to be a big supplier to them
  24. Hello, well, since HWR MKII is bringing this part of the board back to live with something other than the VF-25, I'd thought I'll add a little something of my own, I think there's never been a build up of one of this wave kits, this kit has been sitting taking dust for a long time alongside the 1/72 VF-17S, I put off building this kit since it's vinyl (never work on it before), and I don't like this valk at all, I just got it at a bargain price bundled with the VF-17S on ebay I will use this kit to get the most experience working on vinyl before building the VF-17S, anyway, first time building a vinyl kit, did my research, doesn't seem too hard, biggest pain it's cutting the pieces of their big vinyl chunk base and then sanding them, kinda annoying, even after heating it up is not as easy as some people say it is, hehehe, well, here we go box parts more parts, very few stickers and metal hands... well, this is all I got done for today, maybe will do more tommorrow I really don't have any love for the 19Kai, I will try to see if I can mod it to be a VF-19S, I was checking the lineart and pics of the wave 19s and the only differences are the head, wings and gunpod, so I'll see what I can do, if it turns out to be too hard, It'll finish it off as a 19kai
