My god... they just don't stop!! ALL my VF-1 wishes have been fulfilled this year. This was the last one I was waiting for for my Max and Milia shrine. So why do I feel overwhelmed rather than excited?

The VF-22 STURMVOGEL II is my favorite valkyrie of all Macross. I NEVER expected Yamato to do this. Is this confirmed to be a Dynamite 7 Gamlin version, or are we looking at another video game version? Obviously, it could pass as Gamlin, but is that how they are actually marketing it? In other words, HOW SOON TIL I GET MAX AND MILIA repaints?! :D

Nope. Love the head sculpt on that one, but the outfit is beyond pedo. I much prefer the MH one I picked up back in December.

I hate, absolutely HATE Universe Classics Galvatron. I paid $7.99 for him and STILL regret it. As soon as you begin the transformation process, he falls apart into many little pieces and is almost more difficult than MP Megatron to put together. Alright, I'm exaggerating a bit, but seriously, this thing has the worst engineering of any TF in recent memory. All that aside, however, he looks great in robot mode. Hah! Now that I've pretty much gotten used to the idea that he'll remain as a fixed-pose statue on my desk next to the other TF:TM/Season 3 characters, I'm growing more and more bothered by his so-so coloring and all the awful neon orange joints everywhere. I started debating whether I should pick up the Henkei one during this HLJ sale, since he has a far more toon-accurate color scheme and no ugly orange joints... but then I remember just how much I LOATHE the Hasbro version. Maybe the TakaraTomy one has tighter joints? Gah. I doubt it. I still think 1,100 yen (plus shipping) is too much to pay for this POS. Buyer beware! And I'm a big Galvy (the character) fan. On a lighter note, I just opened MP Grimlock last night and I am in love. Like, 1985-under-the-Christmas-tree love. This wins, hands down, as Transformer of the year for me. I don't think anything will or could come close. Even my wife (who generally rolls her eyes whenever a new toy clutters up the house) couldn't put the "big bozo" down. His size is just PERFECT for the Henkei/Classics crew. Did I overpay? Sure. But the figure is absolutely a "masterpiece" in every way.

I know!! I was starting to zone out a bit until the subject of Macross distribution came up...and then the video cuts away. Right at the juicy part! Damn! It is nice to see where all my money is going, though. Heh. I'd almost be too scared to visit there, though... I don't know how much self-restraint I could show. My poor bank account would be empty in minutes.

Yikes! That's why I always order my Revoltechs from HLJ. Not only are they the cheapest, but they ship them out the day they are released in Japan. Sorry to hear you guys got screwed.

8 bucks?! I paid $23 for mine on eBay. Living in CT really sucks sometimes. It was worth it, though, as the art in this is just amazing.

Thanks so much for these translations, magnuskn! Quite an interesting read. You know, as much as I have nothing but incredible respect for Kawamori-san, in reading these notes I find that my favorite aspects of Frontier were either ideas he was directly opposed to or not in favor of initially. From what I gather, all the human/emotional aspects of the show would have been removed had he been solely in charge. That saddens me a bit, because I think the man is a genius otherwise.

Ha! Funny story - I met my wife due to our mutual love of La Floa Maldita years ago. I was one of TWO people who had that band listed in their profile on AOL at the time when she randomly decided to do a search. I was also djing industrial music at a local club she frequently attended, so we didn't realize that we had already seen each other in person for awhile when we were chatting it up every night. Haha. Great band.

I still don't know how I feel about this. A giant SDF-1 Macross is my dream collectible. My holy grail. But even my dreams didn't place this at over 2 feet tall. The price will be brutal. The shipping will be worse. The room in my "mancave" may just not be there. I still have my original G1 Transformers Fortress Maximus from when I was a kid, but that poor bastard is stuffed in a closet right now, because he's just too big to display.

Man, other than Leader Prime, Deluxe Sideswipe and the Bumblebee with Sam, I won't be buying ANY TF2 toys. They just look horrendous! I can't even blame the toy designers this time, since the actual movie characters are pure FUGLY. What is up with the Twins? My god, their faces are melting! And Devastator is pure crap (in toy form anyway). Gah. Oh well, more money for Macross this year.

Damn, I just had to preorder the Indigo SDF-1 shirt. That's a kickass design. The other shirts border on tacky/busy, IMO. Thanks for the heads up!!

Man, I don't know what it is about this toy, but it doesn't seem to photograph well. Just about every pic I've seen online has been rather unflattering, to the point where I kept my Ozma and Alto sitting in their boxes for a few weeks, unsure as to whether or not I even wanted to bother with them. Well, after nearly tripping on one of the boxes last night, I decided, "what the hell" and opened the VF-25F. Fast forward a few hours later, where I'm posing Ozma and Alto like crazy, transforming them over and over... I think I'm in valk heaven. These guys are solid, sturdy and extremely fun to handle. Absolutely worth the $125 each I spent. Not one of my many Yamato figures has ever brought me this much (worry-free) joy. Honestly, in person, the chunkiness is not really noticeable to my eyes (though things like the landing gear, rubber head lasers, etc. definitely take off points). Like I said, I have yet to see a pic online that accurately coveys just how awesome these are. All you guys who hate these without handling one should at least see them in person. I'm now extremely excited for the Michael and Luca ones I preordered...and I'm almost ready to drop the ridiculous cash for the Alto Super Parts. Well, maybe.

My question is: where can I order this?? HMV seems to be down for some reason, and Amazon.co.jp wants over $35 USD just to ship it. Yikes.

Yep. I'm looking at mine right now. I never managed to track down the "solid brown" hair version, so the one I have is the "clear brown" hair Hikaru. I didn't like the clear hair, so I put his helmet on (with visor). I'm positive the normal one would have come with a visor, as well.

Well, I just received my HGIF box in the mail. The randomness could have been worse, I suppose, but this doesn't leave me any hope for the single boxes I preordered of the later volumes. Overall, the quality is a lot better than online pics would lead you to believe. I don't like the clear blocks they come with, but at least I know they won't tumble over. I am bummed about the size, though. They are much smaller than the CMs line of Macross trading figures. These are more...GI Joe or Star Wars figure sized, if that makes sense? For consistency on my shelves, I wish these were a head taller. Here was my box: 2x Alto 2x Brera 1x Sheryl (Pink) 1x Sheryl (Blue) DAMN IT! I really want a Ranka! I don't care which color dress. Anyone willing to trade? I've got a spare Alto and Brera. I also have some leftovers (doubles) from the earlier keychain "swing" SD gashapon set for trade: 2 x Sheryl 1 x VF-25F Alto type

OH NO! That's terrible news. Damn it, Bandai!!! I only ordered 1 box as well, figuring I'd at LEAST get the main 4 cast members. I don't care about the chase (outfit repaints), I just want one each of Sheryl, Ranka, Alto and Brera. But if they are really just throwing random figures in the boxes, that's complete garbage. And now I have to wait a few weeks for SAL shipping to find out which figures I did (didn't) get.
