  1. Yikes. Not a fan of the head. The paint scheme is decent, but that over-sized head is just fugly. Don't think I'd pick one up, honestly. Now, 1/3000 SDF-1 in TV colors with Prometheus and Deadelus is a completely different story - that would be a BUY in a heartbeat.
  2. Thanks for the extremely detailed and honest review, Graham. Unfortunately, it actually had an unexpected affect on me - it convinced me NOT to pull the trigger on this one. For $380-$400 shipped, I certainly didn't expect to be getting out superglue and cutting tiny pieces off sprues. I am not a model kit builder, and it's honestly insulting that Yamato would expect the consumer to assemble a great number of details themselves for the price. For $200 or less? Sure, I could understand them wanting to cut corners a bit. For the retail price (not counting the import shipping, since these aren't made for my country, and I understand that) it's unacceptable. I'm quite disheartened, as this was pretty much a "grail" piece for me, possibly my number one most desired Macross collectible. Perhaps if HLJ has one of their crazy clearance sales in the future, I may be swayed, but as it stands, Yamato just lost a sale.
  3. Wow, seriously? Some of you guys are actually going to defend Yamato for this? SERIOUSLY? I admit, comments like "I wish they didn't make it at all" are ridiculous, but wow. No wonder they get away with pulling this kind of garbage over and over, when their fans will just eat it up. For the record, I could easily afford to buy this regult, but I absolutely refuse to, based on the fact that A) I don't paint/assemble model kits, which is why I always purchased Yamato TOYS in the first place; and B) they are out of their minds with this price and strategy and I simply can't support it. Also, I have been a big fan of the company since the first 1/60 v1 and am very vocal in my praise of their work over the years. I don't think I ever wrote a single negative thing about Yamato until the SDF-1 debacle recently, so I'm not "one of THOSE guys." I seem to recall a massive backlash against pictures of a proposed VF-0 1/100 scale line awhile back that actually caused Yamato to stop and rethink their strategy with that piece. If more people took that stance instead of bending over, maybe Yamato would look at this differently. But again, I'm just going to get flames and "sarcasm" for this post, so I don't even know why I'm bothering.
  4. ...and then it turned out to be a web exclusive resin kit, unassembled and unpainted, costing 90,000 yen. Hey, at this point, that's more likely.
  5. Wow, this thread made me go from "OMG! FINALLY! THANK YOU, YAMATO!" to "F*&K OFF with your web exclusive bullshit and model kits. I'm out." I have been a loyal fan of this company for years now, and their latest moves have been pretty much a series of kicks to the faces of collectors. I love my Macross collection, but I'm royally fed up with all this "exclusive this" and "model kit" that nonsense. I'm not one to "rrrrrrrrrrrage" normally, but seeing this stuff just really frustrates me to no end. First Bandai screws us over with their constant web exclusives, then Yamato continues to explore this same path. These things are expensive to come by at normal retail, never mind having to use a third party to acquire them at an even more marked up price due to the ridiculous limited nature. I buy Yamato TOYS because I don't want to assemble, paint, etc. model kits. And yeah, I bought my Milia and Max Q-raus at full price. And I would do it again if they made more enemy mecha.
  6. Thanks for the links! You just made my day. I'm going to go with tokyohunter, since I seem to recall hearing decent things about him. I'm just happy to have a chance to get these damned things.
  7. Yeh, nothing in the SP set sounds exciting enough to justify a much more expensive purchase. I'm going to have to go for the cheaper one, too. I hope this turns out awesome, since I've been debating selling my Yamato one for awhile now.
  8. Okay, as much as I don't want to give in to this blatant robbery, I'll bend over. Now where can a guy in the US actually ORDER these??
  9. :sigh: Web exclusives SUCK. Why, Bandai, why??? I would have ordered at least 2 of these.
  10. Composite Ver.Ka Gurren Lagann PREORDER up! http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN962611
  11. I've been so tempted by this one...but I just know if I keep waiting we'll eventually see a Protect Armor bundle. Now THAT I would buy with zero hesitation.
  12. Wow! I've been so out of the loop with this stuff, since GRR Martin news is generally very slow to come. I'm beyond excited that my favorite book series of all time is officially getting at least one tv season. I've never had a reason to sign up for HBO before, but I'm damned tempted now.
  13. I'm interested as well. I'd love to have a full Pixie squad.
  14. I'm trying to look at the Ranka figure, but... my god, the fruit drop tin. I don't think I could own that without nearly bursting into tears everytime I saw it in my house. That film gets to me like no other. So sad.
  15. Glaug, for sure. But I would also gladly buy any Inbit related stuff!!!
  16. I just ordered one of these from BBTS based on this thread. I am a sucker for Zentradi mecha of any size, and the sculpt on this one looks excellent. It's also refreshing to find a Macross related item for under $100.
  17. Not when you're working 80+ hour weeks for nearly a month straight. Playing with my toys was the last thing on my mind. I barely saw my house, let alone my collectibles. I can understand if I had waited a few months, but it's been a mere 35 days since the thing shipped. Sometimes it takes more than 10 days to receive something in the first place!
  18. BOMBAAAA!!!!! Sound boosters or NO SALE. And they'd better not be freaking exclusives. I'm now cursing the High Metal version that's currently on its way to me. Too late to cancel now. Ah well.
  19. Man, some of the apathy in this thread is absolutely shocking to me. This news is more exciting than most recent product announcments. We're getting BRITAI, for f's sake! Macross is more than just pretty transforming planes. I've been wanting figures of the Zentradi for ages. How cool would it be to display the giants near the valkyries?! You know, the REASON variable fighters were created in the first place?! Well, there goes any chances of this line taking off. When even Graham is passing, future enemy soldiers look more and more like a distant dream. I know I'm being a bit dramatic, but if fans don't speak with their wallets, this line is history...and the lame stereotype of Macross fans only being in it for the valks grows more weight.
  20. Not at all. If you check the art books, Britai is unusually tall for a Zentradi. He towers over other characters. Milia is also short.
  21. Hrrm. It seems I'm not the only one who is faced with bad QC on the Milia. I finally opened the Max and Milia VF-22s that have been sitting in my office for over a month now. Max is pure Valk porn, but Milia was my first experience in being "Yamato'd" after collecting their products for ages now. She's missing her front landing gear completely! I discovered this by accident when I was attempting the initial transformation from fighter to battroid (I've never transformed my YF-21, so this was my first time really attempting conversion with this mold) when I accidentally opened the panel doors to discover an empty space. She also had a very loose arm swing connector, which luckily was "fixed" by a good screwdriver. Well, at least it stays in place now. It's nowhere near as secure as the other arm or Max's two arms. Here's the extra crappy part: I got these in a big haul from AmiAmi back in January. I contacted them about sending Milia's VF-22's missing front landing gear. Since I waited more than 10 days to open the package (sorry, "real life" got in the way!), they can't help me. Crappy policy if you ask me, but live and learn. Good thing I usually don't display my valks with their landing gear deployed. Honestly, though, the battroid mode is so damned beautiful that I'll rarely transform this thing anyway. But for $200, I shouldn't be missing a freaking piece! I've heard rumors that Overdrive is no longer offering parts service, correct? That was another route I was considering...
  22. THIS is an absolute GRAIL PIECE for me! I've been wanting Zentradi figures – especially Britai – since the early 80's. And no, those godawful Robotech Matchbox figures don't count. WANT!!!!!!!! Guys, we need to make sure this line does well. I need Milia, Kamjin, Exedol, Laplamiz, Generic Zent soldiers, DYRL versions, the 3 spies, etc. etc. BEST news I've read in a long time!
  23. :sigh: As usual, I'm unable to find a copy of Volume 3 anywhere near CT. I lucked out with Volume 2 when a kind member sold me a copy on here. Do any of you guys have a spare to sell? Or a link to a good site? Ebay is ridiculous and Amazon.jp is claiming that they can't ship it to the US.
  24. This picture made my day. I picked up one of these last month, as well. It absolutely rocks. This is a toy I always wanted as a kid. I've been trying to figure out who would make the best driver for it, since we're not going to get any BTTF figs anytime soon. I think you've made up my mind. Maybe dear Cobra Commander can go back in time and prevent ROC from being produced.
