Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread III *Read 1st Post*
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't really see the why it has to be explained IN THE ANIME, its rather superfluous to add all that info in to the show and it can start detracting from the story telling aspect of things. now I do agree with Mr. March on the point that they should give equally detailed statistics for all the valks. -
ORLY? I thought that the slits things were just hinged plates that filled out the underside of the fuselage in fighter mode and stacked over each other to let the back part of the fuselage slide forward. the compendium is as close to official as we english speakers will ever get. and it is aproved by th HFH.

during the show while they were analyzing footage of the VF-27, they say that it performs maneuvers that a human pilot even with an EX-Gear couldn’t survive. the line implies that the EX-Gear is doing something to help the pilot survive high G loads. and what they have today is G suits that keep blood at you head to prevent you from blacking out, EX-Gear (or whatever is working in these things) is making it so the pilot doesn't turn to Jelly do to high G load. id doesn't remove the feeling of movment completely, just enough at the highest levels of acceleration/deceleration/turning, to keep you in one piece and not dead. if thats what they'er using. were talking about space though, no air in space. and the backpack thrusters are for propulsion. it's the future, they (through the magic of OverTech©) Figured out how to make the valks strong enough to handle these sorts of things. but starscream doesn't have a pilot, he's a maniacal sentient robot from a planet that itself is a giant sentient robot. Valk design has alway's tried to be at least somewhat realistic (excpet in 7) and having the cocpit (with a human pilot in it) right in front of the chest with just glass and a thing shield in to protect them seems rather unsafe. (they actually show this in MacII) the 21 is awsome, it's like a variable Q-Rau. and yes their ar thrusters in the feet that suplament the rear engines. and it's no more redundant than how on the VF-0/VF-1/VF-19/other valks I can't think of off the top of my head the backpack thrusters (which provide aditional thrust for propulsion) can't be used durring fighter mode. well I like Alto, he was cool so
-
but then you'd have a giant version of luca and his valk, and that would suck.
-
so, are you suposed to throw away the nozzle and cup when you finish using using that color? sounds like it would get incredibly expensive after a while

yeah, there's actually a lot of that going on, if you watch the transformation animations closely, you'll notice that the little part on front of the chest passes through the nose cone when it goes to batroid mode. also the hip lasers and frankly most of the parts on the hips tend to move into each other or float around not fully connected to each other. -

I blame SDF-ONE, he started it! j/k seriously though... I think it would be cool if they came out with some regular non-snap kits of the non transforming aircraft? I'd like to see the different ghosts and that one fighter from galaxy fleet (the one that folds to frontier fleet to tell them that galaxy was attacked) in regular glue and paint model form. -

so we'll get models, great. but that wont stop them form pulling the plug on aditional stuff. if the alto and ozma toy's don't sell well they may cut back the toy line. we may never see super parts or armor parts. we may never get a VF-27 toy or a VF-171. they may decide to cut the toy line short and not even release the luca/michel versions. also it's possible they may just give up on doing macross toy's and the only thing we'll get is models. -
depending on what mode you're in you can utalize different weapons more effectively, and you probably have the mech's vainer thrusters better positioned in fighter mode allowing for better maneuverability. real reason, because if they spent all their time flying around in battroid mode and didn't constantly transform, it would be Gundam. alto in a VF-25 could beat brera in a VF-27 because he's the hero. the only weakness the VF-27 has is that it isn't a hero mech and therefore automatically vulnerable. not necessarily, if you've got enough altitude you can try and re-light the engine

OMG, SO PRETTY! you are so beautiful.

just rampant speculation on my part. the VF-25S Ozma is confirmed for next month, it it's most likely that Michel will be after that fallowed by luca. no word yet on super/armor parts. nor has there been any word on whether or not there will be any mechs other than the VF-25. (I'm hopeing for a 27 and a vajra mech myself) based on normal bandai practice with gundams though we can probably expect 1 new release every other month or so. -
Film adaptation of Joe Haldeman's The Forever War.

In a perfect world there would be a film adaptation of starship troopers that actually fallows the book and doesn't suck agreed with everything you said up till that point. -

the hands dont retract on the VF-25 though, they're supposed to be open with the fingers together pointing strait out, tucked into the shield (which in of itself isn't PT). you can't get possable hands into the correct position for PT anyway's -
it's elliptical discussion. It starts on topic and quickly starts drifting off, but it always comes back to topic eventually. in that case one trying to take out an arm/leg to block transformation would be secondary to getting a head shot/kill on the pilot.

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

considering there's a word after stand, and the fact that there is no "with" or "w/" on that sign I thing what it says is "VF-25F stand alone." which I think means there will be super and/or armor parts, but it won't be coming with them first run. but those are kits, they don't have to paint and assemble the tiny little cockpit on it, you do. -

I was actually thinking the same thing. -
that and only one of like 6 or 7 grand cannons were finished when the zentreadi showed up. had they been able to use every cannon, they would have been able to take out something like 80%+ percent of the zentreadi fleet. I actualy think a cross between a NMC and a Macross cannon would be pretty cool. an NMC size ship, but with the gunship sized cannons on each sholder and each arm.

welcome to the club. that's why I'm glad I never bought into this 1/60 scale crap and have nothing but 1/48 and 1/72 stuff (except for my YF-21)` years from now, nobody will give a crap about toy's as we know them today. by the time yamato gets the license they'll be doing something crazy like self transforming valks and we'll still have all kinds of new QC issues that wont get fixed. 3 YEARS. 3 months is nothing. articulated hands suck. they're either too tiny, or (on some gundams) absolutely massive. either way they look like ass and can never hold a weapon right. I'd rather just have fixed pose hands with good detail. -
I have no knowledge about helicopter design but here's a theory. the commanchero is huge so it can carry more ordinance. so when it's fully loaded it's heavier than a fully loaded hind. and from what I've read the hind is so heavy as it is that it can't take off vertically fully loaded, it needs to taxi first. maybe the 4 engines are to provide extra power to the rotor so it gets better lift. again, just a theory form someone who knows nothing about helicopters.

WTF is this, Gundam? it's not like bandai is... oh wait.

except the VF-25 isn't any bigger than the YF-19, but the legs are considerably skinnier. and in the official technical drawings we've seen, the engine takes almost all of the room in the lower leg (it's directly exposed when the big panel on the side of the leg opens) there is defiantly no room, and there are no pallets shown in that part of the leg if their are any missiles in the legs they're either in the back of the legs or in the little parts on the outside of the knee, and both of these places offer almost no room for missiles. also there's a difference between not being shown in the animation and not being shown in official technical drawings. if they were to say that there are missiles in the legs, they would have to completely redesign the interior of the legs. (not that I wouldn't put it past HFH) -

maybe you'd like them to start writing you checks too while their at it. be realistic, regardless of how good/bad the DX looks, there's no way they could charge that little. it's not a cell phone or playstation where they can sell it bellow cost and make money back through later charges. bandai has to at minimum break even, and expect to be able to turn a profit.
