Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
anime52k8 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
then we'll need an "I told you so" thread where the people who are right can gloat. -
hehe. anyways... I just got a new Destroid. Showed up Monday but I was feeling to lazy to take pics until today. I don't like to do diorama's So I haven't come up with a better use for the little ground crew than this. and as a random extra, alto can suck it
-
not quite the only one...

I love battroid mode even the VF-4's. They'll need to make plenty of variants so I can justify having ones for every mode

Bandai 1/48 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Model kits
but the Toys bandai is offering now are sh*t. I would rather buy a toy than something I have to build myself but I'm not going to buy something that's all chunky and clunky. If bandai had a toy that was larg scale, PT, and was as good looking and acurate as possible while still being strong enough to survive light handling (i.e. like Yamato's recent efforts) that would be great, but since they don't make that, this latest kit turning out to be a variable PG model is the next best thing. now this sounds more like it. -
I want a VF-4 but I hope it doesn't look like this one. The guy's who made this did some nice work but it Just doesn't look like the VF-4. STICK TO THE LINE ART YAMATO!!!
-
Screw love, it's about money. A 1/60 v2 with Yamato's weathering versions cost less than $200 $150 for a v.2 1/60. Same toy with the quality of work Jung did would easily be $400+. If you're willing to pay more than twice the price for better weathering than what Yamato's doing now go right ahead and commission someone to do the work or try to convince Yamato that enough people feel the same to make it worth their while.
-
sure. As long as they do a VF-4, VF-14, VF-17, VF-3000, VF-5000, VF-9, VA-3, Monster, v.2 Q-Rau, Glaug, Regult, Gnerl, Variable Glaug, SDP-1, Orguss Valkyrie, VERF-1, Feios Valkyrie, SW-XAII Schneegans, 1/2000 scale factory satellite... Seriously though, I've never been a fan of the R versions from the 2036 game or any of the alternate timeline designs (2036, eternal love song and MacII are all part of the same timeline right? Seto?) for that matter. If Yamato or bandai (depends on who has the licence, I think bandai is more likely though) wants to make toys out of them that's fine but there are a ton of toys I'd rather buy before this, including MacII valks (I dislike them very much but I still think they're better than the 2036 designs.) And if we're talking about Valks/mechs from PC engine game's I'd much rather see stuff from SDFM: Remember Me. the SDP-1 is one of my favorite valks, I would totally get one (it would be even better if they released it as an add on that you could attach to the existing v.2's) also Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this but the Maverick is an awesome Destroid, and it's the same from the waist down as the Tomahawk/Defender/Phalanx so Yamato's already half way there.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
anime52k8 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
no, I'm even more confused. I thought Jetfire was in the movie and dies at the end, wouldn't he have to be ALIVE at one point to die later? damnit I really need to go see this just so I can understand what the heck you're talking about. -
Evangelion 2.0: You can (Not) Advance
anime52k8 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wow, that looks like crap. What was wrong with the old plug suits. -
eh, I mostly just like them 'cus of the Ranka/Brera Kemonomimi.
-
did someone say we need higher rez, I don't know but I think we need some higher rez. :edit: stupid crappy attachment system, "max single upload size 10MB" my butt. I think Alto looks pretty happy about the situation, although I think Brera's looking a little TOO happy for a guy who has his little sister on his lap. but I'm more upset that klan and Michael got left out of the picture. by the way, is it wrong that I think alto is the most atractive woman in this picture?

Right back to Kakizaki... how the heck does he get 2 valks out before milia gets 1? But seriously, now that both versions are out, is there anything left to talk about? I have a feeling we won't be seeing any more Kakizaki valks, unless we get a weathering version, or if they decide to make a "what if" kakizaki 1S. (I have a feeling everyone else is going to hate both these ideas.)

First: It's an animation error because it wasn't supposed to have 3 head lasers, it was supposed to be a either a 1J or a 1A (don't know which one off the top of my head). That scene though was one of the ones that got farmed out to STAR PRO because Studio Nue couldn't handle doing all the animation themselves. STAR PRO is notorious for how bad their work was, they produced terrible quality animation that contained lots of continuity errors and was contently off-model (planes being the wrong color, people not looking right, planes with weapons they don't have, etc. etc.) Second: Robotech is not Macross. Robotech Used original Macross footage but it is not "Macross Just renamed." For further info see here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=228 and here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=29850 Yamato couldn't make a 1R because it's not part of Macross. The "1R" is a creation of HG and only exists within the Robotech franchise. HG owns the IP rights to the head design that Tommy Yune created so any company who want's to make a toy out of it has to make a deal with HG, hence why Toynami is the only company to make a "1R" toy. Yamato would have no interest in producing it anyways. Virtually no one in Japan (Yamato's primary market) knows or cares about robotech, and few would be interested in a head based liberally off an animation error that appears for all of half a second.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
anime52k8 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Obviously no one has scene it, it's not out yet. And just being a knockoff doesn't automatically make it bad, Gerard Butler's cool and I like Michael C. Hall. I think we should wait to name films in this thread until they've actually come out. -
Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
anime52k8 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
that is true. Sometimes though I Find that even if a movie is bad, I still enjoy it just because it's a spectacle. Perfect example is Death Race (the Jason Statham one) or most Jason Statham movies. It's a stupid shallow movie but it's Just so ridiculous that I love it. anyways, I finally watched the second part of Impact... OH! MY! GOD! did ANYONE involved in this crap pass a science class EVER?!?!? GRAVITY AND ELECTROMAGNETISM ARE NOT THE SAME THING YOU MORONS! UGHH... This was pretty much my reaction to every other scene. -

lack of budget is no excuse for being crap. and while I won't comment on movies I haven't seen, I'm feeling confident that Transformers 2 will have enough explosions to make up for it's stupidity. -
The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread

I voted for dinobots. As much as I love Omega supreme there's no chance we'll see him as a fortified rocket base that can magically teleport, had to go with Grimlock I think they should just give up on any attempt at adding dialogue at all. They might as well just make the third movie a 90 minute fight sequence, that's the only redeeming quality of these movies anyways. -
animation error, Tommy Yune's bazaar interpretation of said animation error,
-
Veritech's are never cool. now Valkyries... Also the "-1R" head looks like a sloppy, ugly mish-mash of existing designs that look much better on their own (Just like everything else in Robotech).

Not really. Back when the v.2 1/60's first came out and the cracked shoulder hing thing first came to light a lot of people were suggesting they change the plastic to make it stronger. Graham took that to Yamato and they flat out said they had considered it and the improvements were only marginal at best. Using stronger plastics alone will in most cases not provide enough of an improvement to justify the added cost. The only way to avoid breakages is to design parts more robustly, but you can only make things so robust and still maintain good posability and aesthetics. Going back to the transformers toys again, those toy's are built robust enough to handle rough handling by small children and both articulation and aesthetics take a huge hit as a result. Most transformers are frankly bricks. They end up being big and chucky and often have limited articulation. aircraft tend to be the worst, ones that have convincing aircraft modes often lack any form of articulation in robot mode, and the ones that have good articulation end up looking more like robots lying face down with a jet strapped to their backs when in alt mode. The only transformers toy that compare to yamato products at all are the MP seekers. Those look much better as jets and have better articulation but they're also not nearly as robust. And even then they're still chunkier than a yamato Valkyrie.

Now that I've actually got a destroid and have handled the little figures they come with first had, I'm even more certain I'd that Yamato SHOULD NOT sell prepainted ground crew. What the HELL happened with those little guys. I got an OD Tomahawk today and the pilot looks great, Just as good as the v2 VF-1 pilots. The ground crew look like crap though. I hate painting little figures, especially ones this small, but damn it I could take one of those Hase sets and do a better job painting them myself. Also the has figures are crisp polystyrene instead of gummy PVC. if all they were to release ground crew set and it had the same quality as the Destroid figures I'd rather just do it myself and save a little cash.
