  1. I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life; my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die. (I don't care what anyone says, I love Harrison Ford's original voice-over)
  2. Don't watch the ADV dub, it's pure pain. Evenf free on hulu it's not worth it. Volume 1 for $48 used. Volume 2 for $22 used. Volume 3 for $48 used. Spend the 118 American dollars; man up and read the damn subtitles. further more, download Macross 7 and Macross frontier and watch them all the way through. If you do you'll be a better, smarter person for it. Alternatively the extreme shock and trauma of it all will leave you either dead or in a vegetative state. Either way things will be better for everyone.
  3. I'm really not clear on what the whole movie vs. anime color thing is about.
  4. Then wouldn't you need space for fuel, ammunition, oxygen etc. on the fighter? the only number ever given for the new galactica has been the ~4,700ft number. for the original series I've seen it described as anything from 2,000ft long to almost 3 miles long. in any case, big ship. actually I think the largest amount of space is taken up by needlessly wide hallways. seriously though, why does a ship like the Galactica need these big, roomy hangers and HUGE landing strip area when all it launches are little raptors and vipers that are all less than 30 feat long. and again, if you can make all the electronics and mechanical components really tiny on a fighter, why do engines and all the mechanics need to be so big on the capital ship? :edit: didn't really want to make a second post to bring this up; as someone who doesn't know anything about star wars besides whats on screen in the films (which I haven't seen in years) could someone explain to me why the executor class needs to be 19 kilometers long?
  5. wow. somebody needs to forward this on to Yamato, I need this as a toy.
  6. damn that's a big monitor!
  7. but the Mercury capsule didn't have to carry weapons, long range sensors, powerful engines and enough fuel to get into a dog fight. it it did was coast around the earth for a day; and it needed a 7 story rocket booster to do it. ok, but if miniaturization is advanced to the point that you can cram engines, fuel, weapons, avionics, sensors, life support, FTL etc. onto a fighter that's the size of a mini-van why does its mother ship have to be nearly a mile long?
  8. to all the wing commander fans, what do think about this gorgeous machine. (also, let us have a moment of silence for the poor English Electric Lightnings that had to die to make this crap )
  9. I say disappointing because there was so much right about the black hole and so much potential to the movie, but it ultimately falls flat. the design work was good, the concept was good. A lot of the acting, a good chunk of the effects (i.e. any time old BOB/VINCENT are on screen) and the overall execution are just poor. The had the makings of an excellent film and they didn't pull it off. THIS! nothing bugs me more than shows with ridiculously undersized space fighters. It's pretty much my main reason for liking animated Science fiction over live action. I understand that it's a TV show with a TV show budget and it's expensive to build a life size shooting model the size of a modern fighter jet, but come on, things like the Vipers in BSG are just ridiculously tiny. as for stargate, I think they're ugly ships, but I like them that way. they look like very no-nonsense, practical space battleships.
  10. wow, I've never heard of this. I've always thought it was just based off of Roadside Picnic directly
  11. oh, I love Nadesico. I should go re-watch that.
  12. man, they really should make a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. movie.
  13. wow... Wanzerfan has been on a roll lately, hasn't he?
  14. they'll probably just remove it all together as a way of "streamlining" and "improving the user experience." as for your initial question, there's no way for individual users to change how attachments open. If you're using IE, you can right cick and open attachments in a new tab that way. If you're using Firefox you have to drag the thumbnail preview up into the tab bar to open it in a new tab .
  15. I think I should leave this little exchange from another thread here, as it might make things a little clearer: Great, one of the feaking Baldwin bros. is part of the cast as Breakdown no less (check the link above to find out why I bolded the name); There is only one Baldwin I really liked, and that is Daniel (Beau Felton, anyone?). Now my theory is that Wanzerfan isn't a person at all. He is in fact a semi-sentient beta version of googles new psychic search feature which has found it's way onto the board and now periodically churns out non sequitur responses derived from random words in previous posts.
  16. It's just one of the many brilliant new features that make IP.Board ver.3 so much f*cking better than the last version. by the way, the reason you're only seeing three threads in this section is because you need to change the thread filter options. there should be a dark blue bar under the list of threads that says "click here to show filter options," click it and change the time frame from 30 days to show all.
  17. Here, now it's an embedded image; Was that so hard? (hint: no it wasn't ) OK apparently it is. well it's his fault for picking such a god awful site to try to steal images from anyways.
  18. I Really, really detest just about every ship design coming out of both star wars and star trek. Now for some really great spacecraft from two really awful movies. First up, the bubble fighter from 1998's lost in space. While these things take up about 30 seconds of the movies 130 minute run time, that represents about 25% of this lackluster TV remakes watchable footage (the other 75% being the robot). And one of the most beautiful space ships from one of the most disappointing science fiction films ever made. The U.S.S. Cygnus from 1979's The Black Hole

  20. F*CK YEAH! I love outlaw star.
  21. so it's like the rapture without god? I wonder what pat Robertson is gonna think. Meh and meh again. first one looks like absolute crap and I'm apprehensive about the second one being little more than a preachy b*tch-fest about immigrant rights and how the drug war is our fault or some sh*t.
  22. now I'm sad, I was kind of hopping this crap wasn't coming back.
  23. I doubt it. Just looking at the prototypes shown, there's no visible seam-line around the bulge where the missile hatch should be. If bandai had any intention of including it as a feature they would have in all likelihood included it on the prototype and been showing it off in promotional photos (just like the chin turret and butt stabilizer). I have a feeling that Bandai decided to skip it because at no point that I'm aware of in the show is the Monster shown using or even possessing those missile hatch's.
  24. I've actually never liked the rocket pods on the Alien dropship either, although for a completely different reason. the pods themselves where never a problem but rather the way they attach to the hull of the craft. I just think the extremely long, thin arms that they sit at the end of and the way they unfold across the top of the hull was really awkward and goofy looking.
