  1. As a stand alone toy I dislike it because his chest is the wrong color and his arms are the wrong color and made of clear plastic which means it will probebly crumble in less than 5 years all for a gimmick that doesn't even work right and didn't even require it to be that color (seriously, his chest windows aren't even blue in the show anyways, why just mold the clear parts colorless and tint the arms red). He's also got completely hollow legs with no attempt to hide it and giant truck panels on his back like a god damn superman cape. Also, the fact that he uses his actual truck windows for his chest windows, which many people cite as a plus for the RID mold, completely spoils the look of both modes. The windows are too large in vehicle mode, lack the proper red trim and have a big hunk of silver kibble on either side, then end up too wide and the wrong shape in robot mode. And finally his weapons are an utter joke; they barely look like anything, have nothing to do with the character, and don't even manage to accomplish a single interesting or effective action feature despite all the compromises to the rest of the toy they cause in order to exist. I mean, I was into mechtech weapons, the DotM voyagers had some great ones; they all had two distinct modes that both worked as weapons and they could be locked into each mode for display. Powerizer primes weapon is just an unsightly hunk of grey and clear blue plastic that turns into a longer unsightly hunk of grey and clear blue plastic with an LED light on it, and a bendy grey sword that looks nothing like the weapon in the show. Had this been the only representation of this character we've seen in toy form, it would still be a really mediocre toy with a lot of problems; but it's not. This is the third unique mold of this character that's hit retail, and it is by far the least interesting, least show accurate and poorest proportioned version of prime. And going by the pictures we've seen so far, the cyberverse and "weaponizer" versions of prime both pull off better renditions of the character than the RID voyager. There are representations of prime in every size class that do thing better or in more interesting ways, while the RID prime itself does nothing that makes it stand out. It literally has nothing to justify it's existence and yet it's the only version of prime you can actually find on US shelves right now.
  2. They go up at 5pm here in California, I consider that still afternoon.
  3. so who do I need to throw money at to get this? Honestly, I don't care if the armor packs are web exclusive limited, or part of a bundle coming 6 months latter, or if Yamato's VF-17 ends up being significantly better, the VF-171 in alto's colors is just so beautiful. I need it.
  4. um... what is it?
  5. correct, 9:00AM HK time, which is the afternoon on the day before for people in North America.
  6. I refuse to buy that god damn prime on the grounds that it is an aweful peice of crap that should never had been produced. on the subject of the megatron, what is the textured grey plastic made of (i.e. the chest plate)? Is it are hard enough plastic to sand? When I get him I plan to take the thing apart and paint it, but every painted up megatron I see online looks like it was brush painted by a five year old because of that damn texture. Of couse that all hinges on me ever finding one. TRU keeps putting new RID cases out but if your not there within about 15 minutes of them hitting the selves every Megatron and soundwave are gone. same deal with target, today was the first day they even had prime toys out and by 10:30 they where down to 1 cliffjumper and 2 bumblebee.
  7. every series used CG mechs with traditionally animated characters and backgrounds done as a mix of both to varying extents.
  8. what do you mean? zoids has had 4 full lenght animated series, with the last one coming out in 2006. Honestly, I think the first two series (Chaotic century and New century zero) are actually quite good and worth watching. the forth series (Genesis) I've never actually finished, but the first third that I did watch was quite promising. and the third series (fuzors) is... kind of a hot mess. I wouldn't recommend watching it unless you really like crappy animation and hilarious mispronunciations (seriously, guy-ricky fury...)
  9. It just didn't feel solid to me. No ABS like a modern bandai kit, the part fit was a little touchy at times and the joints didn't feel all that stable. Also, while it was molded in color and had some pre-painted parts (the claws and a few pistons where painted gold) it needed a lot of paint work to match the box art. At the time, I could make it work if I took the time and did a proper build (paint, glue, filler, etc.) but I just didn't feel motivated to do it. It's amazing because it's Leena's Gunsniper. Every aspect of it is utterly nonsensical by design and it's a perfect representation of the way it was in the show. They are Bandai kits, and if anyone knows how to do sprues that don't mar pre-applied finishes, it's bandai.(see MG Hyaku Shiki).
  10. Not fully paint and panel lined, more like if a part should be blue with a white stripe, the part would be molded in blue plastic with the stripe painted on. I don't know about other kits, but the one I bought only had a sheet of clear plastic stickers. I've got this one: http://www.hlj.com/product/KBYZD13 there's part of me that has always wanted to pick up a few more as I really loved the zoids cartoons as a kid and really wanted to get some of the ones from new century zero, but I was was turned off to the line enough by my first purchase that I haven't been compelled to actually pick any more up. I really wish that Yamato or revoltech had kept going with their respective Zoids releases.
  11. They're kotobukiya model kits, which means they're a lot like gundam kits only not nearly as sturdy. In terms of design they're pretty modern, with inner frames and lots of joints and moving parts. the problem is they rely entirely on styrene plastic and Polycap construction, with no ABS as far as I'm aware. The end result is something that feels like an MG gundam figure from 10 years ago; theoretically posable and nice looking but easily broken and prone to turning into a floppy mess over time, even if you don't actually pose it. Many Kotobukiya kits are pre-painted/have tampo printing already applied. Honestly it's kind of stupid, as they frequently don't include dry-transfer/water-slide equivalents so you can't actually paint the model without loosing all of the markings.
  12. I support anything that involves hot lesbians.
  13. Let's look at the exact quote from the official news letter one more time, shall we... So yeah, that's a flat $490 no matter where in the world you live. And as Tober said, if you're worried about customs charges, just hit up CS after you've made your order and they'll make a note to list a lower declared value for you. 3A is a bro company like that.
  14. BOOM!!! From 3AVOX 2-5 I hope you've been saving up your pennies children...
  15. there's not even that many left to finish off EW. we've gotten all the ver. Ka/"ver. EW figures, and Sandrock/Heavyarms kai and altron are all easy remolds of ones allready out. The only 100% unique design we haven't gotten yet is Tallgeese III. (of course that's the one I want the most.)
  16. MS Igloo suffers from having completely uninteresting cardboard cutouts standing in for actual characters. Except instead of cardboard cutout they're horrifyingly creepy meatbags. Also, by the end of it series, the level to which they're pushing both the "Zeon= Nazi's in space" AND the SEIG ZEON! space nationalist fervor simultaneously is kind of creepy. And I've never been all that impressed with battle sequences either. All the suits move as if they have zero momentum or inertia.
  17. I'm still convinced that they are the same guy.
