  1. The only reason I bother with them anymore is because they still tend to be cheaper than going through Yokatta or Big in Japan for web exclusives.
  2. I figured as much. clearly just giving 1% in store credit back with every purchase is too simple and easy to understand.
  3. It boggles my mind when people defend NY and blame their shitty customer service policies on scalpers, when they're a bunch of scalpers themselves.
  4. The two kits he's looking at are back-ordered at HLJ, and if you order them together they'd qualify for free shipping at amazon even without prime and they'd be about the same price while still shipping out and arriving quicker. also, why wouldn't you have amazon prime?
  5. FYI, it's a model kit, you're going to have to paint it anyways, so just paint it the color blue that you want it to be.
  6. I still have no idea what the point of these exp and DP stuff is.
  7. oh, I almost forgot. the HGUC zeta gundam comes with the Hyper Mega Launcher, where as the RG does not. also, there's two versions of the stand alone Hyaku shiki, the vac chrome one that has just the MS. and a non-chromed one that's molded in this really nasty looking mustard colored gold plastic that comes with the mega bazooka launcher.
  8. I just so happen to have the HGUC gryps war set and RG zeta. From left to right: Gryps war Hyaku Shiki, RG Zeta gundam, Gryps war Zeta gundam, Gryps war RX-178. the Hyaku Shiki is built out of box with the included stickers/dry transfers, panel lining and some detail paint applied with gundam markers. the RG zeta is entirely OOB with the included stickers. the only thing extra was panel lining with a gundam marker (no top coat or anything). The RX-178 and Gryps war zeta are both partially stickered, partially detail painted and partially panel lined. I never actually got around to finishing either. it's worth noting that the the Gryps war set had special recolors of all three included kits. Hyaku Shiki comes in a satin gold finish where as the individual release is in vac-chrome gold. Zeta has darker red and navy blue compared to the stand alone release (which is basically the same color wise as the RG zeta). and the RX-178 is an ugly grey instead of white. the Hyaku Shiki looks the best of the three strait out of box and only needs a minimum amount of work to make him pop. the HGUC zeta has nicer proportions IMO compared to the RG, but it's nowhere near as detailed and needs a lot of work to make it look anywhere near as good overall. and the HGUC RX-178 is just a crap kit IMO, skip it if you can. I'd say get the RG zeta and RG RX-178, and pick up the HGUC hyaku Shiki if your OK with mirror chrome gold. if you don't like vac chrome, skip it and hope the do an RG of it.
  9. to get more technical in the comparison. the extra deep BILLY, with two glass doors, and 4 glass shelves to replace the removable wooden ones. comes to $240. but the billy is twice the width and 15 inches taller, so really it's $240 vs $130 (for two detolfs). now getting into actual storage space. the extra deep billy is actually about and inch deeper than the Detolf with the actual shelf panels being 37cm deep vs 34cm. And because it's devided between two units, the Detolf looses out on usable internal width despite being slightly wider in external width when you've got two side by side. if you do the math and total everything up. The detolf has 10608 square centimeters of usable shelf space spread across four levels each in two cases. the Billy on the other hand has 16872 square centimeters of space spread across 6 levels. now, the flip side of this is that the Detolf has a fixed vertical clearance per shelf of 38cm (about 15 inches). where as the billy, with two extra shelves only has about 31 cm of vertical clearance (a bit over 12 inches). That said, the billy has the advantage of movable shelves, so you can very shelf height with some taller to accommodate bigger items and others shorter and loaded with smaller things. you can also leave out shelves and trade surface area for significantly more height; or do the inverse and add shelves to get significantly more area to work with as long as all your stuff is relatively short. So the short version is, at the cost of about $110, the Billy gets you a lot more space to work with and a greater degree of adjustability. Is it worth the extra money? I'm not actually sure myself, I'm still trying to decide.
  10. Unit cost aside, I personally think the detolf just looks better from a display perspective because the glass sides and back create a more open display environment with better possibilities for external illumination. Anyways, I just realized that I've actually had a BILLY bookcase for years without even realizing it. it's this one http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/13690607/ It's basically the same as the Billy Valbo without the doors. the 11 inch depth is definitely an issue and really limits display space. if you're going to use a billy, get the extra deep model http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90208473/ Also, an important thing to know about the full size billy, while it has extra holes so you can add or subtract selves and move the top two and bottom two shelves as you please, the middle shelf is a structural support that can't be taken out, moved, or replaced with glass; so you'll be stuck with at least one wood shelf dividing your case in half. Another thing to watch out for, the back panel is a very thin sheet of veneer that's easy to crack. I managed to split it from top to bottom of the whole case just putting books away.
  11. oh yeah, and I totally forgot that Nendoroid Tsubasa Hanekawa is coming out next month too. http://www.hlj.com/product/GSC44384/Act
  12. I cancelled it at some point, but now I'm I'm feeling the itch to get it again. if I end up getting it, my preorder docket will look something like this: Super sonico Berry version + $400 Titanfall mech paid for this month. pink MP Sakakibara + VF-25F tornado parts next month MP wheeljack + cowgirl Pochaco + figuarts sailor jupiter in august Cecilia Alcott Bunny + Beach queens Sonico + seven deadly sins lust + RD God Gundam + figuarts zero sailor mercury in September travel cat in october figuarts zero venus in november and seven deadly sins satan in February. I feel like I need to thin that list down some.
  13. when SFII first came out in arcades (early 1991) I was less than a year old; so yeah, kind of before my time. also, I was always more into light gun games than fighting games (read, I sucked less at them). for me it was all about Time crisis II
  14. Quick question, is it weird that the first street fighter game I've ever owned is the copy of super street fighter 4 I got free with Xbox live gold this month? :edit: and I'm super, super bad at it.
  15. I've looked for that one before, it's brutal all over. I've been flip-flopping back and forth again about getting this one. There's other stuff I need to pay for that I want more and/or is coming out after this, but it's pink and pornographic. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-005482
  16. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
  17. as long as it's available and doesn't cost hundreds of dollars, I'll be happy.
  18. dawww.
  19. There's really nothing exceptionally bad about the Island, it's just kind of meh. Pearl Harbor and RotF are really close at the bottom, but I think I'd agree with giving it to Pearl Harbor if only because I could more easily be cajoled into watching RotF again.
  20. I still stand by the assertion that Avatar is closer to a direct rip off of Ferngully than anything else.
  21. Also, this was put up last night. I don't care for the face on this one but she looks good from behind: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-006551&page=top
