  1. 偉大的祖國貨 I am so proud to be a Chinese http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-118989-1-1.html
  2. The Max and Millia VF-22 are selling quite well, so I wouldn't worry too much.
  3. Looks nice to me. It's good that Bandai finally uses anime footage for non-model kit boxart
  4. Didn't we get a kick-ass French secret agent in the re-make of Godzilla? Yeah, the movie sucks, but the French guy was awesome ...
  5. I think it's too much to say that the film has no plot, but do agree that the story sounds very familiar and cliche. However, gotta admit that the story was told quite well and execution was top notch. I'd rather take a predictable story with good execution over complicated/preposterous plot with poor story telling (aka TF 2) any day.
  6. I was going to pick up the VT-1 next, but now that there is a chance that it may have a defective shoulder (knurled pin), I will probably get the VE-1 instead
  7. I knew very little about the original Gundam universe, and when I first saw F-91 back when it first came out, I was completely lost. It was a good thing that Bandai decided to start an alternative universe.
  8. Graham, did you see it at the brand new UA iSquare IMAX or somewhere else? Just wondering if it's worthwhile to pay 170 bucks. Plus all the good seats are sold out until end of the month. Crazy.
  9. Try the following: www.generalsjoes.com www.theterrordrome.com
  10. I just wish Yamato would re-issue the VF-0A with all the fixes. Or are they planning a v2?
  11. You are right. I kept thinking I had bought my first 1/72 YF-19 in 1999, but it was actually in the summer of 2000. It was the Bandai Mac 7 valks that came out in the 90's.
  12. I know what you mean. I started my collection with a couple of 1/72 yamato's back in the 90's and thought to myself, "What harm could it do?" How naive I was...
  13. How come you had captions on Toysdaily but not here? Not fair! BTW, didn't you say earlier you would only pick up Roy's 1S?
  14. Is it fair to say that the resurgence of Mospeada is pretty much over?
  15. I am quite happy with the Bandai Macross Quarter. Not that obsessed with big toys anyway.
  16. Many Hong Kong guys refer to their girlfriends as "their vegetable"
  17. Of course it doesn't sound right because the arrangement was different. They also took out the bridge section of the original song. Note that re-dubbing Japanese songs into Cantonese was pretty common in Hong Kong back in the 80's. The name of the cantonese version of the song is actually 真情流露 (zhen1 qing2 liu2 lu4). 可有記得愛 is the Chinese translation of the phrase "Do you remember love", which many have mistaken to be the name of the cantonese version. The singer Priscilla Chan actually got a degree at Syracuse University several years ago. Perhaps some of you in the US may have been her classmates Jonias, are you sure they used the name "Akina"/明菜 for Minmay? I saw the Cantonese theatrical version in Hong Kong too but don't recall. Or maybe my memory was flawed since it was so long ago. Either way, they fixed the name in the latest Cantonese dub of the official DYRL dvd. I think part of the problem is that there was never an official Chinese translation of the name Minmay. Depending on which Macross series you saw, a different Chinese name was used. For example, in the SDFM tv series shown on ATV, 林明明 (lin2 ming2 ming2) was used. Then in Macross 7, it became 凌明美 (ling2 ming2 mei3). However, I think the most popular version is 林明美 (lin2 ming2 mei3), which was used in DYRL.
  18. I wouldn't worry too much about the holiday break affecting the product quality. After all, this is China we are talking about. If you've got money, you will have workers ready to work even during the holidays. Furthermore, many factories in the Guangdong region were shut down due to the economic crisis, and a lot of workers lost their jobs. I am sure many of them are eager to find work.
  19. I absolutely agree with you. I saw a lot of Gundam influence in Macross 7. The Fire Valk was in Battroid mode most of the time, the way all the VF-11C launched off from Battle 7 in battroid mode, etc... There was also an episode in which Mylene hugged Gamlin in space with their two valks in the background... it reeks of Gundam Sorry to be off topic, but yeah, that thing is the most non-macross fast pack we've seen.
  20. That's correct! Unless they are dubbed in Chinese, all foreign films released in Hong Kong do have Chinese subtitles. That's the case with the second Evangelion film being shown right now.
  21. Graham, just wondering how you plan to see the Frontier movie in Hong Kong. An official theatrical release would be nice (the second Evangelion movie is playing now), but I doubt it will happen since Frontier is not as popular as Evangelion.
  22. Unfortunately, there is no model kit version of the Macross Quarter
