  1. Erm... not necessarily. The fold field around them that transports our dimension into the Super dimension may simply dissapate, exposing them to the physics of the Super dimension.
  2. Even if that is the only factor, it still means a drastic change: instead of the poles reflecting light/heat, they are now absorbing it. At the very least, it would mean the planet as a whole is warmer, and the el nino/nina would be lengthier - perhaps even become the norm (no place for the heated water to disipate into.)
  3. Hmmm... this raises an interesting point. What we've seen in Macross Plus is a cratored surface from orbit, and a crator filled desert in the areas surrounding Macross City. It's entirely possible that other areas have seen partial to complete restoration. But doesn't it strike anyone odd that there is no snow or ice (on the ground) EVER in Macross City? (Aside from that one snow storm in SDFM). Macross City is in Alaska, right? Why would the area be a dry desert? I believe it's implied that the world has been fundamentally altered - perhaps a lowering of the depth of the seas? Schitzo - that fish is from DYRL. You have watched it, right?
  4. I think it was rewritten when they made DYRL - flowers became mutant fish, etc.. Which is why, at the moment, I'm leaning towards the contamination of soil post irradiation (sterilization) of the Earth's surface (which, BTW, has nothing to do with damage to the atmosphere. It's a natural process due to the exposure of the seabed to the elements (mostly wind).) Though, having brought up the mutant fish, I'm curious to see (in a future Macross production) if the oceans of Earth were effected. The mutant fish implies that life near the surface was effected, but not enough to kill everything. What about the depths? Were they even effected (aside from increased amounts of sediment)?
  5. The ones who unwisely use their time to see both?
  6. Because it doesn't. The UN abandons the base*. The return fleet is destroyed somewhere between Mars orbit and Earth orbit. *Speculation: to consolidate resources around Earth/they had a budget shortfall?
  7. You guys have read the Compendium, right? http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Category:Chronology http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2000 - start of the UN Wars (July) http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2005 - Anti-UN hijack the 3rd Oberth Space Destroyer, and use it to destroy the returning fleet from Mars Base SARA (no reason why the Harry Miler wanted to withdrawal). http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2007 - Conclusion of the UN Wars (in January) http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2008 - Macross Zero
  8. What he said. (Looks at Schitzoid)
  9. I didn't say that it left radiation. I said that it was irradiated (aka rendered sterile). Though, it could be due to the removal of some other element vital to life on Earth, such as destruction of all nitrogen in the atmosphere and soil. Nevertheless, Bikini Island is a flawed example, as it is a small area exposed to a (limited) amount of radiation surrounded by a sea of life (both literally and figuratively) that both dilutes the effects of irradiation (by spreading it over a larger area) and inputs non-irradiated things into the area. In the course of typing that up, I thought up another possibility: the seas were vaporized sending saline into the atmosphere. The effect would be something akin to what's happening in the Karakalpakstan region of Uzbekistan due to the effects of the drying up of the Aral Sea.
  10. Or they may just be waiting for a script that is "just right". (Who are they? Could be anyone, but most likely the people bank-rolling the project, and are looking for a sure-fire hit.) There could be other factors as well (scheduling, etc.), or the project might already be dead. Most likely, it's in pre-preproduction. Keep in mind that design work on Macross F starts dating from the end of 2006. We didn't hear about it until mid to late 2007. Same could hold true for this project.
  11. It's from the Charabarries issue with an article on Macross F. I can't remember, but the Movic Macross F book may have a larger version of the same image (about the same size as yours, in the first post, is displayed at.) Also... sarcastic jokes, especially those that use tone, don't work in text...
  12. Macross, in all it's incarnets, was never a children's show. The timeslot of Macross F also speaks volumes (1:25 to 1:55 AM). If you want kid shows, check out the prime time ones: Sazae-san (Ongoing from 1969.10.05. Yes, 1969.) Boy Detective Conan (Ongoing from 1996.01.02) One Piece (Ongoing from 1999.10.20) Yatterman (1977.01.01 to 1979.01.27; retelling ongoing from 2008.01.14) Sure, there's Gundam, but the above 3 get much, much, much more exposure. There's also NHK. My son loves: Senzai Zamurai (ongoing from 2006.04.03) These anime (and there are literally only 1 or 2 more) are readily and freely available (ie one doesn't need to stay up late at night or have to pay for cable/pay-TV in order to see them). They are all good examples of what children are watching. EDIT: forgot to add (and it pretty much goes without saying): Anpanman, Hello Kitty, and import shows, such as Thomas the Tank Engine.
  13. Vector art is fairly simple with only a minimal learning curve; especially when it's a relatively simple design, like the SMS logo. And the best thing about it is: the end result is scaleable (sure, you could reduce this logo, but imagine being able to project it on the side of the building? Raster art turns into jaggies.) Anyhow, haven't you heard of GIMP, or photoshop? (former free, later expensive) Using either, the same logo at the same scale (or larger) would take a fraction of the time it took to complete the image in MS paint. Also, the results would be a lot clearer (I can see some bluring of the yellow and black in places...) This logo took me about 10 minutes in photoshop (1/3 scanning time, 1/3 manipulation, 1/3 exporting). Using the enlarge and vector art features, I'm fairly certain that I could achieve something similar to the SMS logo in the first post in around 60 minutes. (12 minutes if I just used the enlarge, magic wand select+inverse, paint on new layer features.) EDIT: linky for gimp: http://www.gimp.org/ wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP
  14. One should keep in mind that the seeding program has been going on for 47 years by the time Macross F begins. I'm not disagreeing that there may have been a minority who voiced against the plan, but after 47 years? That's two, possibly 3 or more generations (taking cloning into consideration) that have grown up with the seeding plan as fact. (Consider it somewhat akin to man having walked on the moon.) On the other hand, one should also take into consideration the people who survived SWI. They were, most likely than not, members of the UN Spacy, who are already inclined towards travelling, exploring and perhaps even colonizing space. Perhaps only the civilians who were brought along inside of the SDF-1 were not inclined - but even then, they have first-hand knowledge that humans can live in space. Couple that with the irradiated surface of the Earth (even after 40+ years, the majority of it is still a wasteland; most likely despite the best efforts of mankind and OTEC technological advances) and I see an overwhelming support for the seeding plan - Earth has been destroyed, and it'll probably take centuries for it to even begin to recover. Why not hop a ride on the next emigration fleet to a blue-green world? Heck, even the average Megaroad-01 colony ship has more green space than what we've seen on Earth in the post Flashback 2012 Macross productions.
  15. I believe that's due to them exceeding the distance that the fold boosters are able to travel (not certified to travel more than 20 light years).
  16. The Frontier Fleet (and by extension, the "Vajra Homeworld") are "in the vicinity of the center of the (Milky Way) Galaxy". The only thing we know 100% about the Megaroad-01 fleet is that communications from it stopped in 2016 (I believe that's the year), and that the UN Government covered it up.
  17. Feb.2009 issue of Newtype.
  18. As a documentary, the film looks like an interesting examination of a social phenomena. However, those in the "anti-" column are disturbing, in the worst way. The best line in the preview comes in French, and it just highlights how sad the fans are in that the only way they can express their love of Star Wars is with negativity and insults of the creator of it... <shakes head>
  19. The Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy. Next best place to look for Protoculture that may have fled from the Milky Way Galaxy. http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/galaxy.html
  20. No, he's not saying that at all. I know of one middle school student of mine who liked Macross F, and only saw it using the internet.
  21. The Fulbtzs-Berrentzs Class (latest info from Chronicle gives it a height of 890 Km, and a length of 510 Km). The Factory Satellite only has a length of between 5 and more than 500 Km. The DYRL version of the Fulbtzs-Berrentzs Class is even bigger, having a total width (or was it length?) of 1,400 Km (the length of the Japanese islands.) Of course, the largest "structure" (if it can be called that) is the ?orbital? ring around the Vajra homeworld. No info on it's size/capabilities/function(s) have been released to date.
  22. 趣味【しゅみ】 (n) hobby; tastes; preference; interests Hobby is the most common translation. If one considers it in the more broad sense, it makes sense.
  23. Erm... what month is that from? The 2009.02 issue has: all of... Sheryl at 5th place and going down. Macross F was at 8th place (formerly 6th) on the most popular anime. Macross F was 2nd (from 14th) on the DVD top 10 @ 17,426 discs. Macross F OST 2 was at 3rd (from 47th) on the CD album top 10 @ 19,598 discs. Macross F OST 1 was at 10th (from 108th) on the CD album top 10 @ 7,802 discs (reentry???) Macross F's "Raion" was at first on the mobile phone melody top 10 Macross F is 3rd on the animation "anime" distribution top 10 ... all of which is a snapshot of the 08.11 or end of Nov, early Dec period.
  24. Added a bit on Saotome Yasaburo. I'm about 2/3 of the way through translating. Some new stuff, some clarification of stuff, and some stuff if you were paying attention during the series and are aware of previous Macross series, you'd already know about.
  25. Seconded.
