I guess it could be dock based, as it starts off with pontoons. (see http://macross.anime.net/wiki/VF-5 for what little we actually know on the VF) There are presumably others in the squadron, I just don't have enough time to draw them in a way that gives them all justice. Not to mention as a reader, it's easier to follow the action if it's just focused on one.

http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2009 I don't think that they knew it was a Supervision Army Gun Boat simply from the traces of the defold that they happened to detect. Nevertheless, it's ambiguous at best. All we can verify is that a) the Inspection Army left the area and b) the Buritai fleet was searching for survivors in the area.

Again, it's not a colony fleet. Emigration and Immigration are synonymous, but colonization is not. And for those disbelievers: 超長距離移民船団

Yes, and this is why we have to be extremely careful with the terminology we use. New Macross class = combined Battle class and City class ships. Battle Class Variable Stealth Attack Space Carrier (shortened to Battle class) = which, if memory serves, is shortened to NMC in the series (New Macross Carrier).

Finished VA-3C Kai: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g33415#msg33415 (By this, I mean the remaining two sections: attacker mode and battroid mode).

Colony fleet? The term is 移民船団 - emigrant or immigrant fleet. (We've been down this road before. One can search the site for the discussion.) I'm not entirely certain that the Macross Galaxy Fleet is the 21st New Macross Fleet. It does have the 21st New Macross Carrier, aka 21st Battle (class) ship. Here's my source (take note Redwolfy): http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2017.0 IMHO, based on the preceeding Emigrant Ships (SDF, Megaroad, New Macross Class) and that the Island Cluster Class is designated as being the 5th generation of emigrant fleet, either the Macross Galaxy Mainland (if memory serves, the correct name of their Emigrant/City ship) is either the 4th generation OR the emigrant ships in the Macross 7 fleet (Riviera, Three Star, etc.) are the 4th generation type.

Why are you referring to a 3rd party source? Why not go with direct sources, such as translations? Even the Macross Compendium is starting to show some mistranslations and "coloring"... FYI, the fleet designations are quite clear. If, and only if, one understands that a single fleet has multiple designations. Also, please stop using the shorthand "NMC". Is it New Macross Carrier? New Macross Class? Take the time to spell it out... ... and take the time to find your sources, and cite them. Memory isn't infallible.
-
Yes. It's called "getting your facts straight" and "citing your sources". It is your arguement after all. If you cannot be bothered to find supporting evidence, then who are we to believe you?
-
It's another assumption on RedWolf's part. The official information offers only the following clues: 51st Super Long Range Emigration Fleet (Macross 21 Galaxy) 55th Super Long Range Emigration Fleet (Macross 25 Frontier) From: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/L...tions.htm#slref Additional sources (though there are some mistranslations. Nevertheless, the commonly accepted source): http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Macross_Frontier_(fleet) & http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Macross_Galaxy We also know that the Megaroad Class Super Long Range Emigration Fleets stopped at 30. Therefore, any to all of the remaining 25 that we know of can be similar to any of the combined emigrant vessels seen in M7 and MF. PS: all explained without resorting to pictures!

Erm, you do realize that even a science fleet can be attacked. It's like the people who shoot at red cross units - they either are not aware or do not bother to care who they are attacking. And going down the tangent a bit: they could be studying the Zentraadi, who are using human technologies to improve their battlesuits. The whole opening sequence could be the science fleet on a mission to capture operating specimens. (No matter what, my money is on it being solely a "cool scene showing stuff blowing up real good to restablish Macross as "teh sex" when it comes to the missile circus")

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
sketchley replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, it does say "volume 1", doesn't it? -
I did a bit of research on the Super Long Range Emigration Fleets that have been shown or mentioned in the various Macross series'. Basically I was looking for where they had been or were last mentioned, and when they were mentioned. The result: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/L...tions.htm#slref (I will have to update the Macross 13 entry, as it appears new information has been released on it.)

One other angle to consider is the effect of the energy conversion armour. Sure, it probably shouldn't be working in battroid mode with the engines turned off or gerwalk mode (engines on or off), but there's probably a pseudo-scientific explanation that can be worked out of it that states that the energy conversion creates a watertight seal around the surface of the vehicle... it'd also explain how the Regult's can operate underwater as they also have energy conversion armour. Nevertheless, my real question with that underwater scene (Macross 0) is: where does that torpedo come from?! Macross Chronicle doesn't state (at least in an easily spotable location) that the Octos has torpedoes, and it has the lineart for the torpedo in that scene with the Austerdat (spl?) sub! Gah @.@

I think it was the producer. And I believe the reason was nothing more than that he liked MacBeth.

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Issue #30 has her costumes in the final SDF:M episodes. There's probably 2, maybe 3 more at most (the aforementioned DYRL, and FB2012 costumes) Yup. The "M" sheet (Developement history 1) only covers the initial motivations for creating a combined battroid and jet fighter vehicle (text on front). Given the amount of information available in other sources (TIAS:M+, for example), there's probably enough info for another 2 pages. Mind you, they've covered a lot earlier in the Tech Sheets on Valkyries. -
About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The latest release mentions that next issue (#31) will have stickers for binders #4 and 5. Couple that with a significant increase in the number of characters and mecha covered (4 mecha, 5 characters), I'm thinking that they are aiming for #50 issues. I don't think the MF movie(s) will warrant that many new pages. -
The info is relatively unique to it. in general, Great Mechanics are mostly focused on mecha stats. Which is great, as other publications tend to neglect statistical data... Anyhow, started a translation of it: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2252.0 and some other Great Mechanics and Great Mechanics.DX: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/p...ranslations.htm

Erm... talk about the content of this thread elsewhere, please and thank you. Translation of the YF-25 Prophecy, and an overview of other parts of the Model Graphix No 299 (2009 October) article(s) on Macross: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g34792#msg34792 The YF-25 Prophecy is pretty interesting. I hope that it's background doesn't change when it finally does go to press.

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
sketchley replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
Perhaps after 2009 there are more, but as 2009 is the launch year of the SDF-1... I've translated (in another publication on the VF-1) that by the time the SDF-1 left, there were only enough VF-1 to equip the SDF-1 to serve as escort. I think it'd be safe to conclude that 2009 is a transitional year that VF-1 production geared up from zero to max production, so there may be a surplus of VFs and a lack of squadrons at that point. You mean furigana? That's only for kids books. Adults and high school aged kids should be able to read all of the kanji in this type of publication. -
Model Graphix No 299 (2009 October) has some interesting tidbits of information. VF-25Gu + APS-25E/MF25P Armoured Messiah Valkyrie Klan Custom Not sure how factual it is (but it's a nice thought that Klan gets her own VF), but it has the following details: 3 head lasers SMS 801 Armour Pack has dual-laser turrets on back Right arm has a retractable chainsaw! VF-27 It may be announcing that the 1/72 kit is under development, but it definetily has some groovy pseudo-lineart. (3D modeling lineart presumably for the kit. But it's better than nothing). Parts are: head, wing & engine nacelles, legs, shield and knife, gun pod, and landing gear. YF-25 Prophecy New kit from Bandai releasing on September 1st. Given that it's a kit, does it mean it's canon??? There's also a VF-25S Messiah Valkyrie Ozma Custom "Low Visibility" Looks cool, but I doubt it's canon.

Oh really? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2005-...or%27s-salaries Compare that to the ¥2 million annual income unofficial poverty line*, and you have 46+% of Japanese animators living below the poverty line! Overpayed, my eye. *http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/10/your-money/10iht-masia.html
