  1. Just think of all the possible VF-25 variations! http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2071.html (scroll to bottom - Japanese links)
  2. 'Cuz they're sponsoring it, silly. AMPM? 7-11 (which should be 7 and i)? I think Lawson would be more likely.
  3. I answered it. See: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=789238
  4. From this I believe you've misunderstood my point. My point is that there is a 2 decade (decode as you wrote) transitional period. The equipment being operated in Macross Zero take place within the first 5 years or thereabouts of that transitional period. See: "Therefore, I'm of the opinion that real world (in the sense of not being upgraded or enhanced partially or completely with OTEC) equipment continued to be used, but was being phased out by equipment that either partially used or was completely based on OTEC". It is true that the helicopter and like wouldn't have the big name OTEC enhancements, such as fold drives, gravity control, SWAG and so on. However, there's much more to OTEC than that. "Variable Fighter Masterfile VF-1 Valkyrie" has a section devoted to the small OTEC enhancements. The accompanying images to that section are of the threads on nuts and bolts. Pre-OTEC, there are gaps between the threads of tightened bolts and nuts. Post application of OTEC, the gaps between the threads has been eliminated. If OTEC is able to create such perfect machining on the lowely nut and bolt, what about more important things, such as engine blocks and so forth? Therefore, so-called "conventional" vehicles have a lot more OTEC in them then is readily apparent. The AI pilot of that helicopter should also be a big clue as well. It'd be more cost effective, up until the point that gas fuel supplies run out*. HOWEVER, the vast majority of conventional equipment was destroyed. Not to mention that a large part of the surviving population was in orbit (Apollo Base, Ship Yards, the Colony Clusters). So, a lot of "conventional" equipment wouldn't even be applicable, let alone readily available, despite those off-Earth locations having survived the destruction of the Earth. * Yes, there would be a ready supply of fuel in the Zentraadi ships that joined the UN forces at the end of SWI, but as Zentraadi craft use thermonuclear engines, the fuel wouldn't work in conventional vehicles without significant OTEC modifications.
  5. As soon as the ASS-1 (later SDF-1) crashed, everything on Earth changed. Long story short - the existance of aliens is confirmed, and the application of advanced alien technology is applied. So, everything in the real world developed after July 17, 1999, would be different somehow. SDF:M went into great detail with changes in technology (F-203 Dragon II, Fan Racer, Yonyo Motto-72 CD player and so on), but Macross Zero appears to have forgotten about it, and introduced a lot of real world equipment. Therefore, I'm of the opinion that real world (in the sense of not being upgraded or enhanced partially or completely with OTEC) equipment continued to be used, but was being phased out by equipment that either partially used or was completely based on OTEC. What is clear in the various translations of Macross materials I've been doing of late, is that not just the VF-1, but pretty much all of the transitionary equipment made after the introduction of OTEC (pretty much before and for up to a decade after the end of SWI) was phased out and replaced by better equipment. So, it's highly unlikely that anything pre-introduction of OTEC is still being used, but there is the possibility (as the general rule of thumb with Macross is: if it's not clearly stated one way or the other, it's possible.)
  6. I see a bunch of quotes, but narry a clarification of your point. What's the point in continuing this discussion if you can't clarify your point and feel the need to obfuscate things?
  7. No, no, no. It's par for the course. Case in point: HD Yamato Pachinko game: Evangalion Pachi-slot: (attn: CGA) and
  8. Other than arguing for the point of arguing, what's your point? 翻訳した情報を持っての? And in your sentence, how many of those start with the prefix of VE? That's how many you *really* know are VE specification. . You're the one that turned it into a discussion about FAST packs and Super Parts. Anyhow, you're forgetting: the specialized avionics, rear-seated RIO, enhanced sensor equipped head, et al. The VE-1 is more than the sum of it's FAST packs.
  9. I still firmly believe that news which isn't clearly and directly related to Macross shouldn't be in that topic. Nevertheless, I'll let things go with the one request that members properly label the content they are directing others to (or moderators go back and relabel). Anyhow, this topic has served it's purpose. Locking it to prevent it from getting out of hand) is fine by me.
  10. Re: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=790673 I am not annoyed that my posts have been deleted from the thread. I am annoyed that content, which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, has also not been removed or moved to another topic. Please justify how a financial institution's commercial containing Marii Ijima is "non-Toy, non-Model Macross news". I visit the thread for Macross news; not for news on Marii Ijima, nor new bank commercials!
  11. It's called parsing. compare: vs. the VE-1 and it's FAST Packs. Quoted sentence is refering to all FAST packs and all VE type variable vehicles, and the modified sentence is referring to only the VE-1 and only the FAST packs used by the VE-1. Anyhow, atmospheric use FAST packs exist for the VF-0, VF-5000, VF-11, VF-17, VF-19, VF-22, YF-19, YF-21, and possibly even the VA-3C Kai.
  12. Careful, careful. Some are, some aren't. Latest info (alas a partial translation at the time of writing, but one can get the gist of things): http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g35158#msg35158
  13. It's been that way since, like forever, in the Compendium.
  14. Finished: Tech VF N http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g35166#msg35166 I wasn't planning to do it completely, but the darned thing just turned out to have so many interesting tidbits of info! (Which is kinda unusual with most of the other sheets that I've translated from this publication). Just to clarify (as sometimes these things don't tend to always come across in the translation: there are 3 types of VF: general purpose (able to be used in space just as well as atmosphere) space or atmosphere use (VF is better in one regime, but still able to operate in the other) exclusive/dedicated space or atmospheric use (VF is able to work in only one regime, and probably not at all in the other) That is, of course, my impression from reading the terminology (専用 et al) and it may or may not be exactly what the author intended. Anyhow, I found the VF-11/VF-14 fly-off interesting. Perhaps it's comparible to the F-16 vs. F-17 cum F-18 fly off (this would be considering the AVF fly-off as comparible to the F-22 vs F-23 fly-off), not to mention some more details on the VF-9 and VF-14 (will they be getting their own pages?!?!) The mentioning of, what I perceive, given the terms used, as a variant of the VF-5, is also eye-opening.
  15. So? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko
  16. "simple" game? It's pretty much par for the course - especially with franchises containing 25+ year-old animation. (Should I bother mentioning the 3D CG animated Yamato looked pretty sweet in the CMs for that game? Especially at highvision widescreen resolution? (Not that the game has a display screen with that resolution or anything)...)
  17. One other thing I'd like to add to my "pachinko = mainstream exposure" is (and apologies that it's taken so long to get this up... life is busy!): There is a great chance of a mainstream (as in, on one of the very, very few TV channels that are broadcast all over the country) commercial advertising the pachinko game (and by extension, Macross). Even more so, there will be a Macross presence on shopping streets (just in terms of advertising signs in front of individual pachinko parlours) - which is, in general more visible, especially with working adults, than TV, 'cuz TV isn't comparitevely watched as much as say, Canada or the USA. The aforementioned Nadesuko pachinko game is a good example: I only became aware of it because of walking down shopping streets. And even with the comparitively lesser amount of TV I watch, I've still seen Yamato, Fist of the North Star and Fuyu Sonata 2 pachinko CMs!
  18. I understand this feeling. On top of the pile of Macross Chronicle translations (see linky above), I've also got Great Mechanics DX.9, Hobbyhand Book, and TIAS:M+ on the go! Thankfully Great Mechanics DX.10 (released this past week) has zero Macross content.
  19. I'm quite surprised that it didn't warrant a Tenjin painting. Though, I'm guessing we'll get a painting of the VF-171EX. I'm also quite surprised that the RVF-171 only got a small extra info blurb... kinda disappointing. Hopefully the VF tech sheets will have a page devoted to recon models... Anyhow, I've hammered out the sections of the tech 1n sheet. Hopefully later today I'll find the time to finish the handful of sections on the reverse of the page that picked my interest.
  20. Housekeeping: revised the TOC of my translations: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/p.../Chronicles.htm Also, I've consolidated all of the Tech 01 VF articles into one thread (links either found in the above, or starting from: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2264.0 ) To do list: Partial translations: tech VF 01 n (development history 2), VB-6, VF-171 (decided before Graham's post ) Gah... too much interesting stuff is being released in the past few issues! Forgot to mention the most recent (partial) translations: Tech: OTEC B (fold) : http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g35077#msg35077 (limited mostly to external fold boosters and fold communications systems. Some interesting stuff. Alas... I don't have enough time to complete this one for the time being. >.< )
  21. The main reason: it's a two person cockpit - one that is "significantly" redesigned from the VF-1D. Compare http://www.new-un-spacy.com/sdfmacross/vf-...-1d-gerwalk.gif vs http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossdyrl/vt...t-1-gerwalk.gif (open both, than rapidly switch (alt+tab) between the two)
  22. Stickers for binders 4 & 5 included in #31. Also on the backcover: Pict of 5 binders w/ caption along the lines of "completely fits all 50 issues!", followed by, in really small text: (planned). Binder organization they recommend: #1: Mechanic sheets #2: Character sheets #3: timeline, history, technology, worldguide sheets. #4: glossary, gallery, song, goods, making, and extra sheets. @Seto: Mac II content's been appearing in the past few issues (leading up to, and including #31), in the glossary sheets. For example, in #31, there's: Operaton Minmei, and GERWALKroid (gerwalkroid? Not sure the best way to romanize it). And for those wondering, issue 31's: Queadluun Rau is SDF:M's B sheet. Minmei is DYRL's A sheet.
  23. Ah, I'm basing the logic on "a non-anime related company* has noted that the media is popular enough for them to make a profit off of it". * Music companies are excluded, as they are traditionally an anime related company (part of the production). Also, it's my personal, opinionated barometer. So it's mileage for others varies.
  24. Evangelion can be considered a "mainstream" anime. (It's got it's own pachinko games (plural)). It's nowhere near Gundam. In other words: Gundam is the exception, not the rule.
  25. Macross -> Pachinko? MACROSS HAS ARRIVED! Yes, only the most popular/big names get made into pachinko games. I've kinda considered it a barrometer on the success of a movie, TV series, etc. (animated or otherwise).
