    Yamato $2000 DYRL MACROSS

As long as the Attacker mode is noticeably taller than a 1/48 Valk, I'm fine with it staying at a little over 2 feet. 5 feet, on the other hand, is just too impractical. Unless you're busting out a self-made, scratch-build custom like MechTech or MaveRick, there's really no point to having an SDF-1 that large.
  2. Nah, the fax machine from Office Space is far more evil.
  3. Nah, the reason some folks like Ledger's Joker is that he struck the perfect balance between disturbingly amusing and cold-blooded psycho. He could be campy, but there was always a very dark undertone brimming right under the surface. One minute you find yourself wanting to hang out with him and witness his wildly twisted brand of humor. And the very next second, you wanna get the bloody hell away from that sick freak. That and he is Batman's formidable equal in almost every regard. I could never say that about Nicholson's Joker.
  4. If this poll results in Yamato saying, "I guess we we should skip making any Basara VF-19's," wouldn't we ALL be winners?
  5. You still get your news from the local TV stations?! It's called satire; you might be entertained and educated by it.
  6. So, should we change the title of this thread to "My name is Stick Bernard. You killed my toy lines. Prepare to die! MOSPEADA News"? I have a feeling most people would not get the irony.
  7. Actually 1/60 is too small. As a good rule of thumb, take a 1/60 VF-1. Stand it up in battroid mode. You see where the VF-1's hips/intakes are at? A 1/60 scaled Legioss would be just around that height. I think the consensus here was that the Toynami Alphas/Aoshima Legiosses are probably somewhere around 1/50 or 1/52 scale.
  8. I just figure the lack of flow and all the odd angles on the fighter are just part of the its stealth/radar-deflecting profile. But yeah, if there's one area where the VF-171's trump the VF-17, it's in GERWALK mode. Not really feeling the whole armless look of the -17 in that mode.
  9. Gotta add "Aura, Limit Break=>Renzokuken, Rinse, Repeat" for every later boss battle too. Not the best FF game, but it was enjoyable enough.
  10. Actually, the VF-17's fighter mode appears to be inspired from these little "skunk works" :
  11. Let's not forget: there is a little bit of anime magic going on with the Legioss and Tread. And as much as I like Yamato's skillful design work, even they have had to make a few compromises and concessions due to anime magic (such as the internally mounted gunpods of the VF-22). Like I said earlier, there's definitely areas that can be vastly improved over both Toynami's and CM's offerrings. I just don't want to see Yamato address those issues and flaws from Toynami's and CM's versions but then wind up with their own unique set of issues or inaccuracies. That's all. <shrugs>
  12. Cowboy Bebop called. They want to know what the hell that wanna-be, imitation Swordfish II is doing stuck to the VF-2SS. P.S.--Awesome pic and pose work, eugi!
  13. There's definitely room for improvement for both the Legioss and Tread. I think I've talked ad nauseum in other posts about the improvements needed for Toynami's basic Alpha. But on the Tread, despite me seriously loving the Toynami Beta, there's some things that can be improved: Bigger, removeable chest missiles; Adding the shoulder, pop-up missile launchers (present on the CM Tread); A twisting cockpit piece to improve the look of the soldier/battroid mode; Stronger and additional locking points for the fighter combo (the Alpha's arm boosters and the Beta's chest intakes don't really connect on the Toynami version); More details and rivets to panel-line (ala the CM Tread); Less of a gap between the two leg boosters and the yellow missile rack in bomber mode; Integrating the landing gears into the body without compromising the bomber's bottom clearance space. Reducing the unsightly gaps on the solo bomber's underside (where the torso, hips, and upper legs are). If Yamato could address these issues and seriously knock it out of the park with both the Tread and Legioss (definitely needs to match or exceed the size of the current combo offerings - meaning 1/60 scale is out of the question), then I'd be hard pressed and tempted to get one. But if it's just a marginal improvement in some aspects but a step back in other areas, then it'd be an easy pass for me. Just my 2 cents.
  14. The Stampede? Yes. It's a bit much too. As for the Armored VF-25, I just look at it as a natural evolution of the Reactive and GBP-1S armor. You gotta figure someone at Spacy probably said, "S*&t!! Why don't we just integrate the armor with the transformation process? Enough of this sacrificing-fighter-and-GERWALK-modes-for-the-extra-armor-and-missiles crap!" Makes sense from an extended storyline standpoint (much like the YF-21 being the result of further human and Zent' collaborations). I'll admit there's some "kewl kibble" on the Armored VF-25 too. But that nice little aspect of evolving a GBP-like accessory into a versatile, multi-mode armor mitigates that kibble factor. In any case, if there's one good thing that can come out of this poll, it's that more people are probably checking out the M3 website more in-depth.
  15. Sorry repost. (Site was acting fidgety for me a little earlier.)
  16. C'mon eugi, that orange and green thing is clearly a "variant" of the VF-4! Doesn't this just SCREAM VF-4?!!!!!
  17. Oh!! I TOTALLY see the resemblance to a VF-4 battroid!!!
  18. But how many of them are official/canon? Like I said before, the VF-4 in fighter mode is drop-dead gorgeous. It is a beautiful, beautiful looking fighter. If only some of the shoulder kibble was used instead to make some semblance of a back or backpack, I would probably like the battroid mode a hell of a lot more. And if we're going off the model kit above, the VF-4 really needs something of a better defined back. ------------------------- As for the VF-2SS, I really don't mind the stand-alone version. But the SAP version is beyond excessive for my tastes. Seriously, is the 2SS "compensating" for somethin' with its railgun and kibble?
  19. If you've got a white or light-colored background, you could cheat with those do-it-yourself sticker/decal sheets. But that's only if the decal or sticker has some color in it. However, whether it's a colorful or all-white decal, it's a PITA if you're trying to put any kind of sticker or decal on a dark-colored spot. Even something as simple as a red NO STEP sticker needs white under it to really pop out and become legible. I've cheated a little bit with using a white-out/correction tape strip and then printing over it to make white decals (think a pilot's name on a black background). But it's tricky to get the sticker's printed color to match the background (unless the background's black). And it doesn't look all that great the larger the sticker size becomes.
  20. Looking good. How'd the paint hold up after the transformation? Any issues with chipping or paint rubbing off anywhere?
