  1. Yes! Rock on, live your truth ! Obi Wan and Vader's fight scene was very entertaining at least. This about sums up all of the issues with the Sequel Trilogy. Hopefully future stories will help flesh these out in the same way The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian etc. has done for the OT and PT. X number of years later I still don't know if I actually enjoyed Solo or not. It was fun for an adventure flick and Lando was fantastic but so many of the other elements from the film, like how Solo got his name were just...ugh. -b.
  2. Well then I guess it depends on what circle of the fandom one travels in. Just like what the fandom thinks, what the professionals and YouTubers think doesn't much influence whether or not I like, or dislike a movie. I keep my own council and with that, my opinion is my own and is just as valid as anyone else's. Again, depends on what circles one travels. And the discussion can quickly devolve into "true fans" vs. "casual or not true fans" and all of that which I'm hoping to avoid. I am however very happy to be the first person to say that they praise The Rise of Skywalker, that you remember (), but people have chimed in even among the chorus of "it sucked" here on the forums. But like me they probably quickly realized it's a fools errand to try and have a conversation about what you like around these parts, SW or otherwise. It's just not worth the trouble which is kind of a bummer. But come on, awkward acting and terrible dialogue are hardly superficial problems as it relates to cinema - I mean, that's exactly the point of movies. Acting out well constructed sentences, otherwise it might as well have been a book. One final point re: the prequels, three movies that turned the big bad Darth Vader into an intergalactic moron. I mean, Palpatine played him like a fiddle with the dumbest plot ever. The prequels as a whole had few redeeming qualities, Obi Wan, how the Clones evolved in later media, John Williams's score, the lightsaber battles and it gets the benefit of having a cohesive, but really stupid plot across 3 terribly acted (save Ewan's performance), directed and scripted movies. But, my opinion. So y'all like your laughingstock, and I'll like mine. Pretty sure no opinions are going to get changed regarding these particular movies no matter what points and counterpoints we make. I do however think that The Mandalorian is universally liked, so that's a small victory for all Star Wars fans. Cheers! -b.
  3. 😁 Well, I enjoyed the Sequel Trilogy, I have gripes with them for sure. The greatest of which is the lack of an overall plan for the trilogy which truly led to the biggest misses from a story and character development perspective. That said I very much enjoyed TFA and RoS and I didn't hate TLJ. For what they are that is, Star Wars has never been high cinema, they're popcorn movies. Besides the Prequels suck, suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccccck. Besides Obi Wan and the spin-off animated series that is. These memes and "that" subject though, just hilarious on so many levels. -b.
  4. This movie was so much fun, it was James Gunn unleashed. Didn't know most of the characters but it didn't matter, they played very well off of each other and the 'weirdness' just worked. I feel like Gunn used this movie as some sort of catharsis from his ordeal over at Marvel being fired/re-hired. -b.
  5. They're not likely to carry it, generally speaking they carry more TWE items than regular releases. Especially for Macross DX Chogokin items. -b.
  6. You can say that again. Hell, you could scream that at the top of your lungs. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL 🤣. But it is a very pretty stand that I'll never use. In any event I'm really digging the design of the 31AX and doing my best to ignore all of the thermometer and pregnancy test talk about the Pod so I can just enjoy my toy in peace once it arrives. I even like the Battroid mode which I usually don't outside of the VF-1, VF-11 and YF/VF-19 (Isamu only) variants. -b.
  7. Not gonna lie, I initially thought this was HLJ as well, but reading it quickly shows that this was the mag, not the store we all know and like/love/hate. -b.
  8. Pretty much, however as I think about it and to be fair to the movie makers, in some ways that was by design. GI Joe and Cobra are left on the periphery on purpose which kind of works. But the story and the characters are all cookie-cutter which makes this so generic-looking and feeling. The movie stays pretty grounded (which again, would have been okay had the story been stronger) until the last act and then BOOM invincibility plot armor and an infinity stone come out to play. -b.
  9. Yeah, I don't even know (or remember) Snake Eye's comic book origins, it was that as generic hero (who happened to be Snake Eyes) was written as a unlikable jerk. And as stated above, if you like Storm Shadow, this really is the movie for you. That was a character in the movie that was truly well done and he came across as more of a protagonist, as the designated protagonist did. -b.
  10. Welp. The Jeremy Jahns YouTube review posted above was pretty spot on. Honestly this should have been Storm Shadow: Cobra Origins as he was a far more sympathetic character than Snake Eyes, who was an a-hole pretty much the entire movie. Even then, the acting was good, the fight choreography was good, and most of the movie was fairly grounded - then the third act and all of a sudden everyone is a super hero. Bottom line, I left the theatre thinking that Storm Shadow literally has every right to want Snake Eyes dead, and honestly he'd be 1000000000000% justified. Just...ugh. -b.
  11. Expectations super low, feedback that seems to match those expectations but I'm still going. Because my EMAX ticket was only $3 with a promotion from my wireless carrier and Atom (ticket seller). Going on Sunday so I'll come back to this thread and leave a one-emoji review lol -b.
  12. Got it, thank you @tekering I guess EvilBay it is 🙃 -b.
  13. Definitely going to take advantage of my existing HBO Max subscription and watch this at home, but certain movies beg to be seen in theaters. This is one, so I'll be there on opening night. -b.
  14. Like others have pointed out, this was okay to bad, with a small handful of good moments. Wasted potential really is the theme here. Great cast, some really good acting (Scar Jo and Florence Pugh were outstanding) but the story/plot...yikes. AND this might be one of the only end-credit scenes that actually annoyed me. I'm fine with what Marvel is doing from a connected universe perspective (there's a lot of potential there), but I'm not stoked about this particular setup. Kind of a bummer because I was very excited to have a new MCU movie to watch. Hopefully Shang-Chi and Eternals (really looking forward to that) are much better. -b.
