I agree Duke, but we really need to get back on topic.

Back to the old nose for now, I do plan to redo it a little bit, we will see how it comes out. But I did rescale the underslung MDC for a three barrelled cannon, I think it looks pretty good, but will need to clean it up a bit, thoughts?

I am definitely in and as I said before if Cap'n A needs a VF-1 to tear up and expermint on I will gladly donate mine to cause, so long as I get VF-1D out of the deal, lol.

Haven't had much time to work on this this week since I am on travel but today I played with the thrusters and nose a little. I am considering changing the nose to be more like that of the Phantom-4, of course if I go th, this route I will refine it more, and I also will redo the canopy. I will also play with the MDC pods tonight, thoughts? And Graham, remind me not to eat at your place.

The whole Macross toys going away thing is not that much of a surprise to me, especially with the whole liscencing fiasco, no one can distribute Macross toys outside of Japan, therefore limiting them to the Asian market. If HG had just said back in the day that Yamato and the others could sell Macross products outside Asia, but had to pay them a small royalty we would probably see many more macross products for sale and distribution, and at a lower cost too.

Ye Gods those things look terrible. I mean they are so cheesy and cartoony looking with hard edged muscles and features, I mean come on. If you go to a larger format why not make them more detailed and realistic, take GI Joe back to what it should be, not bring back that uber-carpy GI Joe Extreme,

I am definitely interested in a VF-1D and am willing to donate a slightly dinged (canopy hinge broke), Hikaru VF-1A to the cause, of course as long as I can get it back, and I would of course pay for it.

Exactly, so the thing might have enough range and onboard payload to destroy one or two targets, ok, but after that threat eliminated, it can't get additonal fuel or weapons on its own. Also, how the heck is that thing suppossed to hover? And, do these morons realize how big and how high an explosion has to be in the atm in order to be seen from space at the distance they are showing?

Interesting, the plot doesn't look too bad and the cast is fairly solid, though I still am not a fan of the designs. I will wait on the reviews and maybe, big maybe, see it in the theatres if a friend or family member really wants to. Otherwise I will wait for it to the video store to watch it. I just don't like that the AI starts to attack because of an outside force, the lightening, that and the trailer gives too much away. If anything the thing should go rogue on its own, kind of like why the sentinals in X-Men start attacking humans, because Mutants are humans, well guess what all humans can become a target to an AI killing machine. Also the people who produced it do not impress me at all XXX and the Fast and Furious movies were all garbage. We will see but right now I am not giving it prop or holding up much hope for it to be anything better or worse then something made by Roland Emrich, a cheesy popcorn movie with cool effects and nothing more. The AI fighter design was actually not half bad other then the lack of rear vis, but the "Stealth" FSW, eh, I do not care for the lines.

Ok, not much progress this week, trip has not allowed me much time to work, and using the touchpad on the LT makes it a little difficult, i think I need to pick up a travel mouse. Anyway I added the folding joint to the tails, need to flesh it out more. I also added a quite simple undercarriage, that i need to fix up, add details through and really think through. It will be a traditional undercarriage though with wheels as oppossed to skids like on the Splicers. Also, I played around with the idea of making the nose more traditional in nature. I'm still debating whether to stay with the bullet nose or go wing the more conical nose. What do you guys think, appreciate your comments.

The characters, the story, the atmosphere, the effects, the tech, it all blends together to create one of the best sci-fi series seen on TV since Farscape or SAAB. Speaking of which I finally finished watching all of SAAB, never saw the last episode before, and damn, why did Fox have to kill it, that was such a great show? I hope that BSG does not suffer a similar fate.

@ZD: I don't think I will get rid of the tails entirely, I may play with them a but not entirely eliminate them. As for the cockpit, were this an early or even mid war design I might consider a design with poor visibility that relies more on sensors. However as this is late war GF has learned that a fighter without good visibility is as good as dead considering how badly sensors get scrambled in heavy fighting.

I've fixed up the Lerxes, I'm pretty happy with them and reformed the cockpit pod, I think it came out ok, though I may do a remodel of the whole region, narrowing it. Forming a canopy that looks good will be a major pain at that point though, let me know what you all think.

Hey I'm not saying everyone in the navy is homely or anything, heck I've worked with a few FCs that I've had more then a few fantasies about, and one that, well holy shreg she was beyond hot and well i won't go into details.

Not a problem Godzilla. As for the whole Moley thing, I've not noticed that so much, I think the fact that most of the characters look very human, not all of them are supermodels, the humans anyway, lends more credibility to the series. I work with the navy and let me tell you most of the people I work with not be featured on the covers of Vogue or GQ any time soon.

Update: Trying to figure out the LERX and right now I am trying to decide which type to go with, a hard edged LERX, or a more softer edged one similar to the rest of the wing. I have two examples below of what I am thinking, they will be fixed to fit the design better, but which do you guys like more?

Moley?

Dang I could of sworn I said that like two or three pages ago.

Ok, so have it fighting a 1:60, I have my little 1:20 power armor beating up a Banpresto in my cubicle. -
Good thinking but then why did Kirk always wear yellow in the original series, and all the guys in red shirts got wasted? TOS=> red = dead
-
Talk to trekkies, some say they actually do represent different shipboard functions, but mostly it is because in the original series they used bright colors to justify filming in color. If everyone wore the same color uniform, or all the ship interiors were the same color scheme they would never have been given the funds for the more expensive color film. Even Enterprise maintains that tradition, albeit more subtly, with the blue jump suits all having colored piping. To date the only trek uniforms I have liked have been on Enterprise and in the movies, Kahn and after, except for the bell bottoms.

Very nice, now build it and show us pcitures of it grappling with a 1:48 VF-1S, strike of course. -
Yes another update: I added lateral thrust control vains to the engine exhausts, I also moved the wing back 2.5 ft and added temporary place holder LERXes in. I will have to refine the shape and chamfer them down but you get the idea. Oh yes I also added a set of tails, dorsal and ventral, they will fold for storage and landing. I think it makes it look quite a bit more agressive and almost shark like. Any thoughts?
