  1. I would love if they did a more accurately scaled y-wing and B-wing like they did for the X-wing and A-wing, though I realize that would make them pretty big.
  2. Looks and sounds very professional, from the teaser, though I don't care for Misa's voice too whiny for my tastes. Hikaru sounded great though.
  3. Ok, got some time so I refined the cockpit some more I like it better but it still needs work. The whole interior will be gutted and the placeholder equipment will be replaced with better more realistic gear. Let me know what you think.
  4. Or that could be an entirely different class of ship in that shot based on the burke hull, maybe our missing frigates.
  5. The F-22 is really an aerodynamic step backwards when you think about it. The stealth features are not condusive to good aerdynamic airflow and really hinder performance, especially since they add drag. The YF-23 on the hand was very stealthy, and was designed to be very smooth producing some very nice laminar flow making it quite aerodynamic. Heck right now the F-22 has a flutter issue similar to what the early F/A-18s did. The hornet solved it with that vortex generator strake up on the LERX, but the F-22 designers are fighting against doing that bitterly since it will mess up the stealth features. They are primarily looking for a software fix to correct the problem that a simple 3"x8" vortex generator would fix. Your tax dollars at work folks.
  6. Works for me, as for your modified Arleigh Burkes, we need some better pictures of the ones in the OVA. The picture you showed looked nothing like an Arleigh Burke, maybe it was an animation mistake, or maybe it is one of those wierd japanesse destroyers.
  7. No real feature creep, all the things I have tacked on have been there from the start of concept sketch. The only thing has been added is the drop hatches on the sides, and the only real repurcussion of that is limiting the number of troops to be carried. Everything else has simply been a refinement. As for the cockpit, yes I am not sold on that being the final configuration of the windows. I wanted to make it more open compared to my last one however due to all the complaints about it not having enough visibility. I will probably end up lowering the upper area cut off and will eliminate most of the window are behind the pilot above and below.
  8. Zinjo you are so off base on this it is not even funny. The Su-33 does have canards, it also has the trimmed tail boom, folding wings, etc... to make it carrier capable. The aircraft seen in episode 5 is clearly a modified MiG-29. It bears no resemblance, beyond basic layout, to the Flanker family of aircraft. Look at the picture neid posted. The engines, stabs, verts, spine, cockpit, radome, wings, intakes, lerx, etc... all match the basic MiG-29 configuration. The only variations are the ordnance and very odd canards off of he SV-51. Heck it even has the MiG-29 parachute canister and airbrake in the rear.
  9. Man that Fulcrum is about to get spanked. Those are some wierd fulcrums, I remember a long time ago we were trying to determine just what model MiG-29 they were based on. The conclusion was that they weren't just like the F-14s they were a mix, and the canards were just tacked on their and look really bad since they make no sense on a MiG-29.
  10. Of course you've probably answered this before, but how would one burn DVDs of your fansubbed Macross work, and or what would be the cost to buy them from you?
  11. IIRC the sub carrier was undergoing a transfer or cargo onload immediately prior to the attack right? If so then those two destroyers were probably not escorts, they were just there to provide unrep. As for the Asuka-II's escorts, yes there should have been more, but remember there was a war on the whole Mayan island op was top secret. So, they would have kept the whole task force to a minimum, and using only "stealthy" ships would also help to conceal the task force. Not that helped them against the Anti-UN forces there.
  12. ANother big bird on the horizon, Boeing is starting to seriously look at the X-48 again, Blended Wing Body. But, not as a passenger plane, yet. They are conceptualizing using it as a tanker/transporter, they figure that they can get two or three booms on it without much difficulty. This was also brought about by the fubar that is the KC-767.
  13. Update, per suggestions I enlarged the tails. I also cut a basic cockpit, it still need work but gives you an idea of how it will be arranged. I am not 100% on the window arrangement, it may change, thoughts? I also increased the door size, but as expected it dropped the number of deployables to 12 per side. @KingNor: Too many off CG issues to move the engines up that high, out of atmo the thing would have a serious pitch down moment that would be a pain to correct for. @Akilae: JSF design nightmare, I take offense, lol. But serious how do you figure that? The engines are not jet engines, they are a type of 1st generation gravity drive, hence the housing. The doors will also open in such a way as to not but the trooper in its path and they will be fired out fast enough that unless the ship is seriously jinking there shouldn't be any trooper fod, lol.
  14. Yikes I don't know what you did to the colors there but tone it down a little.
  15. We've derailed this topic enough with discussing the AG generators, Sketchley why don't you make another topic on the subject?
  16. Ok update for tonight. I added in the landing skids, they can extend quite a ways as you can see here, but normally won't because as you can see the forward crew door no longer reaches the ground, right now it is sitting up an additonal four feet from normal resting position. I also added the assault boarding hatch to the top. I may not keep it though, but it is compatible with the enemies airlock hatches so it will allow the ship to board enemy ships through the airlocks. @phyrox: I'll look into increaseing hte door size, I realized after I typed that, multi-species, duh, so the hatches will have to be increased in size, I was thinking too human again. Also remember those doors are used during drops, i.e. they open shoot out the trooper and close again, I checked and there is plenty of clearance that way even for the hatches right next to the engine pods. The engine pods will also allow for the lift vents that shown a couple posts back. As for the top turret, this thing has to operate in space and atmo, the top turret is used for defense against enemy fighters and attackers, so are the lower pair, but they can also be used more effectively on the ground for enemy ground units. There is also plenty of weapons for lower suppressive fire, two fighter scale chain guns and four AP turrets should be enough to keep the enemies heads down. As for the asthetics I wanted this one to be a bit on the displeasing side, as it is not suppossed to be a human design, I just haven't decided which race it belongs to yet. And I am considerng a name change to whale. Anyway onto the pics and keep the comments coming. ANd yes I will change the hatch sizes.
  17. Wing fold has been figured out, here is a quick picture showing the mechanism
  18. Well in a child or pre-teens hand it would seem to be proper scale when compared with an adults hand, so that might be why you thought that.
  19. Did some checking, 95% male is considered to be 21" wide, so with the hatches being 30" wide, I think I can safely make the inner frame lip 1.5" wide making the actual openning 27" wide. Figure with armor the 95% soldier would probably be around 24" so that gives him 1.5" clearance to each side. Anybody bigger, just roll your shoulders forward, lol.
  20. I think he definitely is not, Nanashi, no offense, would just pull images from sources and then claim ownership. Op4 is trying to actually do real research into the subjects and then build 3D models, if anything he his a 3-D modelling version of Egan.
  21. Last update for the night. I started in on the VG wings, figuring out the fold point mostly. And have a quick shot of the ship with the wings folded. As for the hatches. They currently stand at 2.5 feet in width, figure you might lose about 3"-6" of that from structure, so the actual openning will be a little smaller. Even with full armor a median individual should fit, otherwise I will widen them, I will have to check a couple things. But the more I widen the hatches the fewer soldiers it can deploy at once. Anyway first VG folded shot.
  22. Update time. the doors are in, the main bay has been carved out, but the interiors of the drop hatches have not been put in. Neither has the interior detailing started. I need to do the cockpit and finish up the major exterior features, like the docking points and VG wings, and landing legs before I press with the interior more. I also posted an image showing it on the ground with two 6 foot tall soldiers for scale. BTW those solsiers were kindly supplied by EXO.
  23. As for the VLS cells, I don't think they are going on CVN-77, but I know for sure the that CVNX-78 will feature an Evolved Sea Sparrow VLS on each side of the ship, same mounting points as the current Sea Sparrow launchers. BUt I've no idea where they are on the Asuka II, you'll have to do some serious video searching.
  24. Question is the mid fuselage-arms section actually removable, or was it just pulled off for the photoshoot?
