If it was easy to find I wouldn't have asked, lol. Looks like I need to find some shirow books or the manga to do this.

No offense Grebo, but if you just pick and choose like that you are creating a whole different universe then what is established in macross canon. And well, you are maceking the whole thing into another robotech type franchise. Your changing the fast packs is cool and a good idea, though the mounting leaves a lot to be desired as it would be very weak. Also the 19S head on the 19A body is cool, but why say it is a 19S, why not say it is a 19B or 19C? That way you can use existing craft more easily and make the game more accessible to the canon purists.

Ok, so I was a little off with my box color predictions, I haven't bought a valk in a long time, so I figured that it made sense.

Oops the thread was on Macross Nexus, see here: http://forums.macrossnexus.com/index.php?showtopic=123 And this was the eventual concept that sumdumgai and Ghost Ryder drew up for how to make the cockpit armor: http://forums.macrossnexus.com/index.php?a...=post&id=35

We had a discussion a while back about how best to make an integral cockpit armor for the VF-11, I think the concensous was to put in the nose and depress the cockpit to pull it out.

Speculaton about the price of (future) 1/60 YF-21
Knight26 replied to ruskiiVFaussie's topic in Toys
The VF-22 IIRC also has the FAST packs integrated into the belly giving it a slightly fatter profile in fighter mode. -
As I said in the YF-19 thread I think that the color scheme of the YF-19 box is a dead giveaway that at least the three advanced fighters will be produced. Why you ask? Well look at the colors: Creme, Red, Dark Blue/Black. Then look at the fighters' colors: YF-19- Creme, YF-21- Dark Blue/Black, Ghost X-9- Red. The only mecha this really leaves out would be the VF-11, but maybe that is what that swash is suppossed to represent. Maybe once Graham's review comes out we will get better pictures and we'll be able to get an idea if a VF-11 color is there too. In this way they would be creating a unifying box scheme, much the same way they did with the DYRL boxes (all black), and the TV boxes: IIRC they were done in the rough color scheme of the individual fighters i.e. Hikaur, Max, Millia. Even the Mac-0 VF-0s have a common box design, though I'm not sure on that since I don't have either.

I'd say the box should give some hope for the future to all. A tri-colored scheme, creme, red, and dark blue. Hmm Creme is the YF-19, Dark Blue is the YF-21, and Red *drum roll* the ghost X-9. I think this shows that Yamato plans to release the three advanced fighters from Macross Plus, and use that box as unifying identifier, like they did with the DYRL VF-1 boxes. Though I doubt that the X-9 would require such a large box, and it does but in some doubt about a VF-11.

I'd check the compendium to see if there are any official designations besides the 19A/F/S if not I would put your modified heads on those. Maybe make your VF-19S into a VF-19B/C. There really is no reason to keep with the A/D/J/S designations of the original series as not all Valks stick to that. The VF-17D is not a two seater, it is more akin to a VF-1J in configuration. Also IIRC there is a VF-1B designation that is basically a VF-1S but with different avionics, need to check the compendium for that.

This is exactlty why I am so anal with my designs so that just in case my books get popular after publication debates like this don't start.

Mostly from the first OVA, the ones with the balls instead of treads, I have never seen the Manga or the new series, but those might be interesting to see too.

Does anyone have pictures of the tanks from Dominion Tank Police? I'm not looking for Bonaparte but the main line large tanks, thanks in advance.
-
ah, its ok by me, I don't care for the 19f/s frames, but for some of the purists he should consider it
-
Also you have the wrong body on the VF-19S, that is the YF/VF-19A body. I love the YF-19 I think is a great fighter and battroid, but agree that it needed one more design revision to do away with some of the anime magic inherent in its design, see the new toy to see the lengths having to be made to make it because of that.

It may look cool, but when you think about it it makes no sense. Why take four highly powerful and manueverable ships, strip their engines and join them together like that? You instantly loose four ships, tie up resource to build four more (from looking at the size) make them slower and far less manueverable, loose overlapping fields of fire, loose the ability to bring on firepower from multiple angles, and make them sitting targets. Now all you have to do is take out the core ship and all four of those are lost, whereas before you would have to engage them all individually.
-
Man the macross cannons were a stupid concept. Hey let's take four Zent command ships, which were what 10-15x times the size of the Macross and link them together to a giant macross looking main ship. Oh then of course make it transformable and to further confuse people as to its size give it a large Macross style bridge to boot. The whole concept is just dumb, it would be much more practical and provide better use of the resources to just have the four command ships and not the central transforming POS. Just look here to see what I am talking about with the size problems: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&id=33753

Looks good, but something about the VF-1S is bothering me. Maybe it is the higher details movie hands on the series body, or just the scale of the forward hand is a bit off.

I am quite underwhelmed, I mean I can turn out better renders in AUTOCAD for goodness sakes. And who are these new enemies that are betraying them, did the sentinels go bad? The new baddy ship designs look like the Shivan's from Freespace. -
Nice but turn down the self-illumination on the textures, it is somewhat jarring.

Transformer designs make great use of taking exists bits and turning them into something else. I can remember one that was an A-10 and its engine turned into its arms as well, or maybe it was its wings. Either way it was not a practical solution. An engine is a large device and so it takes up a lot of room and adds a lot of weight. Combing arms or legs there makes its size and usability limited. In most VFs the engines are in the legs, the engines do not become the legs, the legs are large enough to contain them. In your case I see way that the power drive from either set of engines could reach the rotor and, especially with all the twisting and turning. And, the engine pods house too much of your arm and leg components to allow for the space needed for an engine. The other mecha on the other hand look great and are much more mechanically feasible, though I am curious as to why a large mecha would have a standard internal combustion engine, you would conceivably want a gas turbine at a minimum for the power requirements. The rest looks great though I have a question about your carrier ship. Why did you put the rotating habitation section transverse to the rest of the ship? This would make transitioning into it somewhat problematic, you'd probably have to enter it from the middle of the spin and climb down to the floor. Also why did you put a spinning AWACs style radome right in the middle of that same habitation section, do you want to sterilize your crew? It is a very interesting looking ship but those two design features just kill it for me, maybe if the radome weren't there it would make more sense but then you still have the transition issue.
-
Nice done, the character and mecha design are all solid except for one. Your variable helicopter, it's too transformerish. I see no power source for the rotors or the mecha, you have arms come out of where the engines would be on a modern attack helo. It all looks good other then that.

Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return

Definitely not macross worthy from what I have seen, but a nice transformer
